T.I. Thinks Some Gays Are Not "American" And Are "Too Sensitive"

Ugh.

We were so proud of T.I. for his recent charity work with an Atlanta children's organization, but now he has gone and said something that just has us shaking our heads.

In a recent interview for Vibe's December issue, the rapper made some interesting comments on gay rights.

Even though the rapper allegedly "supports anyone's sexual preferences," he had no problem finding Tracy Morgan's recent controversial homophobic statements funny.

T.I. said:

"Man, I will say this, the funniest joke I ever heard Tracy say during a stand-up was, 'C’mon man, I think gay people are too sensitive. If you can take a dick, you can take a joke.' [Cracks up laughing.] That shit was funny to me. And it’s kind of true."

He then went on to say:

"They’re like, 'If you have an opinion against us, we’re gonna shut you down.'… That’s not American. If you’re gay you should have the right to be gay in peace, and if you’re against it you should have the right to be against it in peace."

Aaaah! So conflicting!

Yes, we agree that everyone has a right to speak their mind and also has a right to live in peace, but his comments are ignorant. And NOTHING about Tracy's homophobic rant was funny.

You might want to think twice before you open your mouth on gay rights.

I agree with him..and this should go for any group…just remember words can only hurt you if you let them…

  2. 2

    "…his comments are ignorant."

    Right on cue Payrez.

  3. 3

    I agree with him

  4. 4

He's right, and it IS funny. All I hear is gays whining, including you Perez. Annoying.

  5. 5

This comment actually IS funny… it was the other part of Tracy's rant that was not… calling for killing his own children of they were gay and for Obama to man up and stop pushing for LGBT rights…. So T.I. should be aware that there was more to this rant than this one comment… but yeah the affiliation between taking a c*ck and sensitivity… its just funny!

  6. 6

Oh sure! Lets go american, lets wait and hear a white person saying something racist and we´ll hear all these rappers making deaths threats.. As if someone would listen a pot addicted ex convict..

  7. 7

I completely agree with TI. Get over it, stop attacking people.

  8. 8

I totally agree with him, everyone is entitled to their own opinion

  9. 9

It is too easy to twist his comments and suggest that he believes that some gays are not American. If you use your reading comprehension skills you would understand the meaning behind his comments. He supports a person's right to live their life, which would include as a gay person. But he also supports another person's right to speak out against homosexuality. It is called Free Speech. It is an amendment to the Constitution. When gay rights groups bully people who say things they do not like (which is what it is, "bullying") they are stopping their right to Free Speech and that is un-American.

  10. 10

Re: Naimad_ – you can't be addicted to weed, you can be addicted to the sensation..but you can't become addicted to weed. dumb ass.

  11. 11

Re: Naimad_ – What are you talking about? Comedians say racial jokes ALL THE TIME. The comparison you were trying to make is invalid. And to go on with the name called is very ignorant.

  12. 12

Oh f**k off! Could you imagine if anyone said anything racist about black musicians, comedians or actors? It would be all over the media and there would be a massive out cry from the black community, so its exactly the same with the gay community. Leave the gays alone. Can't we all just get along and stop with the HATE.

  13. 13

TI is absolutely right. Take for example what just happened in LA. The billboard said, "Christmas quality, Hannukah prices." The Jews got upset, claimed anti-Semitism. What was everyone else's reaction? THat the Jews were over reacting, and the over reaction was why people hated Jews. That apparently is ok to say though, but say a negative thing about a gay no matter how light, the GLBT community is ready to lynch them.

  14. 14

I love to hear a n*gger say "you should have the right to be against it in peace"… who's the minority now, bitch?!

  15. 15

More and more people are against the gay agenda!!
    Soon it will all stop!

  16. 16

PEREZ DOESNT CARE FOR GAY RIGHTS. HE ONLY CRITICIZES CERTAIN PEOPLE FOR HOMOPHOBIA AND NOT OTHERS BECAUSE ITS CONVENIENT.

HEY PEREZ, WHY DIDN'T YOU PUBLICIZE THAT LADY GAGA"S PRODUCER REDONE WAS WORKING WITH AN OPENLY AGRESSIVELY HOMOPHOBIC RUSSIAN ARTIST ALEX SPARROW (ALEXEY VOROBYOV) WHO WENT ON RECORD SAYING HE HATED GAYS? BECAUSE LADY GAGA'S IMAGE WOULD BE AT STAKE? WHAT A HYPOCRITE! DON'T PRETEND YOU CARE ABOUT TEH ACTUAL ISSUE AT HAND, WHICH IS HOMOPHOBIA…. YOU JUST CARE TO DRAG SOME PEOPLE THROUGH THE DIRT AND LEAVE YOUR FRIENDS WHO ARE JUST AS GUILY, UNSCATHED.

  17. 17

This guys a dick head. Saying dumb stuff like he says is not "Free Speech" its prejudice. Plus he sucks more than any gay guy I know. He's so uncool. Wish he would disappear. Poooff!

  18. 18

Perez, YOU'RE the one who has conflicting statements: "Yes, we agree that everyone has a right to speak their mind" followed by "You might want to think twice before you open your mouth on gay rights." So which is it, dumbass? If people have a right to speak their mind, why should they have to "think twice" before opening their mouths? Stop trying to silence people who don't support your gay lifestyle… the truth is most people don't support it and never will and they have a right to voice their opinion against it.

  19. 19

He is just reacting to all the dick he took in jail. Doesn't want everyone to know he liked it.

  20. 20

sorry bout you ARE too sensitive, im gay myself and it gave me a good laugh actually

if you can take a dick you should be able to take a joke!!!
b ut then again… perez is always crying…

  21. 21

Stupid fucking n*gger…..but don't get mad. I'm only joking. Don't be so sensitive.

  22. 22

The poll at the site where you stole this from, tee_M_zee, has 80% agreeing with him. He's 100% correct, gays think they deserve special rights, not just equal rights. They have created more hate against them and you're the leader of the fudgepackers. Can't stand the heat? Get out of the bath house. Morgan was the victim of the gay Nazi brigade, he did nothing wrong. You've once again showed why this site has lost half it's readers, your gay agenda keeps backfiring.

  23. 23

you are wayyyyy to sensitive. comics make jokes abotu different races and you dont see them up in arms. theres nothing wrong with being gay. if you know that and are still upset over little jokes like that then you are giving them the power. get over yourself and just live. you are the ones giving them the power in the situation. take it back and get over yourself. you are hated because your a bad person, not because you are gay.

  24. 24

Let's say something negative towards the Blacks… and see what he has to say then.

  25. 25

I agree with him!! T.I. for president!! fuck herman cain, bring T.I. and his massive meat pole!!

  26. 26

Re: WowzaChild – love him and his gigantic meat pole.

  27. 27

I AGREE WITH HIM AND YOU ARE PROVING HIM RIGHT
    HA
    HA
    HA
    HA
    HA
HA TI IS OBVIOUSLY CORRECT, YOU PROVED IT
    HA

  28. 28

While I think the joke was funny, and can see why the "let people believe what they want to believe in peace" mentality is so easy to settle for, when you really think about it, it's not in peace at all. Someone fighting for gay rights vs another person fighting against their rights does not balance out. Two people agreeing to disagree while one side still does not have their basic human rights simply does not equal zero. I'm getting sick and tired of gay people being accused of fighting for special rights. They don't want special rights, they want the exact same rights that you enjoy. If you have the right to marry and want to keep that right away from me YOU are the one fighting for special rights, not me. It's that simple.

  29. 29

Some gays are too senesitive! If you're not gay, ppl will just find something else to laugh about so just lighten up. There is a huge difference between gay bashing, and his comments.

  30. 30

I'm pretty sure you just proved his point. relax perez

  31. 31

the gay community can be pretty brutal to some stereotypes such as blacks, asians, fat, old, unattractive etc. if they really want to be accepted they SHOULD START AMONG THEMSELVES!

  32. 32

I think he has somewhat of a point because according to the American political right that all citizens have the right to freedom of speech. People should be able to discuss anti-whomever grievances. This being said just because its law doesn't mean its right. This does not mean that you can deprive people of their rights based on sexual orientation though. Well thats my little rant. I wanted to write that I have been watching the Family Guy episode where they tried to ban gay marriage.

  33. 33

Re: Wild-Guitar – and you obviously need to go back to school you ignorant piece of crap!!

  34. 34

He's right though. He didn't even say anything derogatory. Everyone is all for free speech, until someone starts using it.

  35. 35

He has a good point and you just helped prove it.

  36. 36

OMG are you fucking serious? yes the joke was a little offensive but it was a joke, and why are they making that joke in the first place? BECAUSE WHAT YOU ARE DOING RIGHT NOW. its a joke GET THE FUCK OVER IT. and if you had an education you would understand he wasnt saying being gay isnt american you idiot, hes saying its not american not to have the right to BE gay and live in peace, and its not american to not be able to have your own opinion about being gay and live in piece. if ANYONE says a single word in any way that may be portrayed in negative light about being gay you go and cry about it and shit. STFU no wonder people make fun of gays, you are helping!

  37. 37

See this just proves T.I point once again because he is making a remark what involves homosexual's it's obviously bigoted.. not! Read what he is actually saying, he only saying there constant fighting against people's opinion is against the right to free speech.. go him for saying what he believes

  38. 38

Re: whywhat – turn off the CAPs asswipe. OCCAISIONALLY for emphasis, continuously is just stupid

  39. 39

Re: Beautiful Disaster311 – T.I. and his big fat black cock meat pole for president!! He's wise and I like him.

  40. 40

FINALLY someone has the guts to day that out loud. Seriously. All these barriers we put between people of different sexuality, race or religion - they are put by people who are offended by every single thing and blame these who are different. if nobody would care, nobody would be rated different. YES i am for equal rights for everyone, but that also includes saying what you think.

  41. 41

and seriously, you need to stop spinning words around - he didn't say gays are un-american .. he said the thought process behind not allowing people to express conflicting opinions about the gay community is not the american way.

Re: Zeppelin – What do you mean, "can you imagine"? It happens every single day. T.I. did not agree with everything that was said in the rant, he specified the one part that made him laugh. He is for gay rights, for every American's right to free speech. Just because a person disagree's with a certain lifestyle doesn't mean they are a bad person, just a difference of opinion, as we're all entitled to.

    43

Re: Wild-Guitar – So to be a racist is ok, but not to disagree with YOUR lifestyle? If he makes all that money picking cotton in fields, sign me up!

    44

Re: Viva LaChapelle – N*gger. Really? But calling you a "F*ggot is not ok?
To get respect, you need to give it. Racism is the same as homophobia. Practice what you preach.

  45. 45

Yeah TI!!! Now watch the gays cry over this one…lol

  46. mre says – reply to this

    46

Re: charuki – so you don't say anything about blacks now? He is not against gay people, he is for freedom of speech, including your racist speech.

  47. 47

But he's right, Perez. I support gay rights but if someone doesn't, then they don't have to.

  48. 48

The title of this article is very misleading.

  49. 49

raypearson, learn how to spell first.

  50. 50

I agree with T.I. everybody has free speech unless it offends the lesbian gay transgender and bi's. That's bs, they not only want free rights but to control everyone else's opinions on the matter. Stfu!

  51. 51

You know, sometimes it is okay to laugh at yourself. Gay jokes don't have to be taken 100% serious, sometimes it is just a joke. Doesn't mean that person is some gay hating homophobe that wants to kill all the gays. He is also right about the fact that everytime something slightly "homophobic" is said GLAAD or somebody wants it silenced. That is wrong, nobody should dictate what I'm allowed to say, just as I don't think people should dictate how you live your life.
Also, I remember around Halloween time you posted a costume you thought was funny and it was like a sterotypical gay man costume. Why did you find that funny, but not other gay related things? If somebody who isn't gay posted that would you still find it funny, or is it just because you are gay and think it's okay for you to joke about it?

  52. 52

Wawa What said it best!! I totally agree with T.I. Gays are way too sensitive these days. It's a freakin joke!! If you cant laugh at yourself than you got issues. Comedians don't discriminate. They talk abt everybody, from mexican, blacks, puerto ricans, whites, midgets, retards, etc., Duh!! It's too bad that some of you guys didnt get that. Hello! It's no longer freedom of speech when you're not able to express yourself. And he's right, if gay people can take dick up their as#es then they should be able to take a freakin joke, period!

  53. 53

You're completely proving his point by posting about this, and you're twisting it to make him seen homophobic when really he's not.

  54. 54

will never support his music again.

  55. 55

Gays are the whiniest b!tches on the planet. STFU!

  56. 56

Sense and wisdom, he's got both.

  57. 57

Classic rhetoric of the uninformed. TI and like-minded individuals have the right to say whatever they please but we're not allowed to be "sensitive" and defend ourselves, is that the case? So free speech is only extended to those of us who wish to say questionable things but the offended parties don't have a voice? He's just intimidated by the power of the gay population and is having to come to terms with the fact he and his cronies are probably a bunch of fucking bigots.

  58. 58

    hm!

  59. 59

Re: Wawa What – Couldn't agree more! There was nothing ignorant about it..

  60. 60

I wonder how he would feel if someone made a similar comment about African Americans. Does he feel they are too sensitive when someone makes a joke at their expense? Or does it just apply to grouips of which he is not a member. I mean anyone who thinks Tracy Morgan is funny should be able to take black joke … right? Is that really the American Way? If you think you have to make fun of someone else to be funny, then usually you are not being funny. And if you had to face what gay people in this country face everyday, you would not be amused either. T.I.'s good work is still laudable. But calling him out for saying something stupid is fine. If you replaced the concept with something negative about Black people and made a joke about it, I doubt TI would be laughing

  61. 61

    Re: designdesign23

Why so senstive? I was only joking.

  62. 62

What do you expect from these monkeys who promote violence and stupidity? I really don't give a sh$t what he thinks or any of his group. I wouldn't waste internet space with their opinions if I were you Perez…

  64. 64

Please give me a break it is funny. If u have such low self worth you cannot take a joke go back to your shrink

  65. Zopo says – reply to this

    65

It was funny. To avoid discrimination you need to be able to laugh at yourself and others, by selecting yourselves as a special group that cant take a joke just causes you problems.
Get over it, its just a joke.

  66. 66

I'm gay and I am NOT offended in the LEAST by TI's comments. He's right - I have ZERO issue with those who respectfully believe gay marriage is wrong. They're entitled to that belief as I am entitled to mine.

You can't have it both ways guys, either everyone is entitled to voice their opinion or no one is.

  67. 67

    Re: mre

Why so senstive? I was only joking.

  68. 68

He's right. Some of us really are way too sensitive. I mean, there are many more serious issues than a little comment that actually didn't mean a thing. There is a limit though

  69. 69

Re: RaRaranded – Ohs noes!! You'll seriously ruin his career if you do that! lol, you're silly…

  70. 70

Please give me a break it is funny. If u have such low self esteem u need a few more appointments with ur shrink

  71. 71

I agree with T.I., we all need to stop being so sensitive about jokes. Comedians do joke about every race, religion and sexual orientation. It's not just Tracey Morgan. The "Queen of Mean" does it all the time. When I hear people joking about my race or religion, I can honestly find the humor in it. I'm not in the least bit offended. Everyone has an opinion, it doesn't make it right or wrong. Sometimes we need to step back and laugh at ourselves. It's healthy!!! Instead of being angry over what someone else's opinion is.

  72. 72

Isn't this the looser who was in prison? What dumbass would listen to this jail bird's opinion on anything?

  73. drdre says – reply to this

    73

i don't agree with homophobia, but he's not going out of his way to disrespect- at least no intentionally. I do agree with "If you’re gay you should have the right to be gay in peace, and if you’re against it you should have the right to be against it in peace."

  74. 74

Re: Wild-Guitar – Oh please! Don't say something that reveals the type of stupid and racist person you really are, and then defend it by saying you were only joking!! In case you didn't realize it, you're not funny!

  75. 75

    His comments were on POINT!!!

  76. 76

I have to say I kind of agree, you can't force everybody to love gays, just the same you can't force all people to love black people, Jews, Arabs, Asians, Latinos, Easter-Europeans and so on. As long as we can all live in peace, harmony and respect that is the important thing.

  77. 77

I agree with him… put aside your own fear of phobia… and he isn't saying anything even remotely ignorant. Just speaking the truth… and I fight fiercely against homophobia.

  78. 78

Maybe the no American comment is off. But they are way to sensitive when it comes to gay jokes. I have been teased all my life about what I am and I just laugh it off. No big deal.

  79. 79

    Re: designdesign23

Move on, Missie. It was only a joke. You know….just like Tracy Morgan jokes.

  81. 81

"if you can take a dick, you can take a joke"

    That is actually pretty funny…

  82. 82

although minorly offensive, for the most part these statements are just simply dumb. He's trying to say something deep but when re-reading that, he's not really saying anything…because he is a typical stupid machismo
"If you’re gay you should have the right to be gay in peace, and if you’re against it you should have the right to be against it in peace."…wow WORDS of wisdom. Enlighten us mister strong black man.

  83. mre says – reply to this

    83

Re: Poindexter-X – it's spelled "loser", not "looser", Loser. If you actually READ what he said, you would understand he is for gay rights.

  84. 84

Re: Wild-Guitar – Who said Tracy Morgan's jokes were funny? They are stupid just like yours?

  85. 85

I agree with him. It's the same thing when I hear other black people whining over little things or simple jokes that they think are "racist." Its annoying either way.

Like, if someone doesn't like me or has a problem with me having color on my skin, I'm just gonna think, "fuck you" and go on about my business. Same thing goes for gays. Not everyone is going to be accepting of you. Get over it.

  86. 86

Re: Zeppelin – Could you imagine? You're kidding right? People say racist things about black entertainers ALL the time. I'm sure that at this point in his life, as a person, T.I. has learned to simply live and let live. (However, for publicity, he might make a rap out of it as a response to stir things up).

Any mature and educated black person would realize and accept that some people are racist and close-minded and just get over it.

  87. 87

I agree with TI 100%! I have no problem with gays, but stfu already! Stop whining about how people are so anti-gay. You make things worse by complaining about stupid shiz like this. Like it or not, dear, but this is America and we have a freedom of speech. Someone is ALWAYS going to be offended by something someone else says. We've come so far in the gay rights movement and change doesn't happen overnight but acting so effing whiney and annoying does not help your cause. You're giving fuel to those who stand against the gay community. So grow some thicker skin and shut up!

  88. 88

totally agree and im gay. comedians makes jokes about everything from straight folks, white folks, black folks, jokes about mexicans and what not. why are the gays an off limit subject. too damn sensitive. relax.

  89. 89

    what a asshole

  90. 90

Idk why so many gays ask and look for sympathy …

  91. 91

Damn T.I. hit the nail on the head! I agree with the man. I also think that joke is funny. Being gay should not make you off limits to comedy. Comedians make fun of everyone and everything. Put your big girl panties on and get over it. If you're going to act like a two year old, fine, you can't watch big kid shows.

  92. 92

I also agree with him, look at your many posts where other gays thought you were overreacting.

  93. 93

black trash-go back to jail loser

  94. 94

not that i'm racist at all, nor would i make jokes about it. If someone made a black joke that was extremely offensive, he wouldn't think it was okay or funny. but because he isn't gay, he thinks it is okay. Its not, i got made fun of my entire life for being gay, even when i wasn't "out" and knew I was gay, just hadn't met the right person to come out for. I haven't been black, haven't felt what racism is like. So he shouldn't act like he knows what its like or whats okay to be said as a joke when we have been going things like this forever, have contemplated suicide, or in fact have committed suicide. The joke was not okay, nor was it funny. Grow up, do your research about issues like this. then mayeb T.I. you won't think its so funny

  95. 95

I have one more thing to say to all these people saying that, he is black and if he can accept a black joke, us gays should accept gay jokes. Difference here: a lot of the time our own FAMILIES do not accept us because we are gay… can you name a black family that doesn't accept there own child because there child is black? this isn't a race thing… there is a HUGE difference between a race joke and a gay joke, especially at this time in age when children are killing themselves for being gay. NOT okay to make a joke about being gay in this sort of way.

  96. 96

Re: Frankilicious – I agree, it is semi-funny, but that being said, i don't think this its okay to make the jokes right now when young kids are hurting themselves because they are gay, we don't need more people making it sound like gay is a bad thing. its not. it is 100% normal and something we can not help. Just bad timing, thats all

  97. 97

Re: jfkwashot – Because we don't some of the basic human rights that the rest of the country enjoys. Was that clear enough for you?

  98. 98

I do think the line 'if they can take a dick they can take a joke' is somewhat funny. It's not the funniest thing I've ever heard, but its whatever. The other stuff Tracey said that night wasn't. And we were totally over it, he went on Rosie Odonnell, where she kissed his ass for 10 minutes, and we agreed. It was over. Now during the biggest sales week of the year TI dug it back up. Because if you're not going to have a hit single during the holidays, trashing gays can probably bump up sales just as much. So glad he's such a prolific writer since I've never really identified any vocal talent from him.

  99. 99

T.I. only spoke out about this for media attention. He's just another worthless ex-con trying to remain relevant. Who gives a sh!t about what he has to say. Perez stop giving this cu*t attention.

  100. 100

I applaud his honesty and he's not saying anything hateful so I don't see a problem.
