Ouch! John Goodman Slams Hollywood BIG TIME!

john goodman slams hollywood

Way to bite the hands that feeds U, John!

During a recent interview, John Goodman totally SLAMMED both current AND classic Hollywood:

"There was a lot of baloney back then (when movies were first being made) too, most of it hasn’t survived, unfortunately."

"The crap progresses age to age. But it’s all the same."

We certainly have taken issue with the recent wave of reboots, sequels, fourquels, and fivequels…but we'd probably think twice before accusing Hollywood of ALWAYS being full of crap.

Just sayin'!

What do U think? Do U agree with John Goodman's comments about Hollywood???

Who cares, he's worth $65 million. I think it's safe to say he's pretty much set for life, especially at his age. He really doesn't need Hollywood (anymore) if you think about it. If I was that wealthy I wouldn't feel the need to work in this industry anymore if it's such crap. I'm sure he dealt with a lot of fake crap while he was actively working in the industry, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to make it.

I totally agree. Another thing is that they have their own laws and rules that just pertain to them. You can actually get away with murder and not spend 1 hour in jail. It's sad but it's true. If your a celeb, you can do the crime and you won't do the time.

There is nothing wrong with what he said. It is really not a slam. Hollywood has always made crappy movies and since the beginning they have made sequels and remakes. But who really cares some work and some dont. There are still enough good movies out there if your willing to watch them. The 'Artist' is suppose to be great, but really how many people will watch a silent film these days! Johns career has been good and will remain so. He can say what ever he wants after all he has years of experience in the industry. I wish perez would just post celebrity gossip and stop with the stupid commentary and stop trying to make something out of nothing. You just seem never to have a clue.

I love him now even more :)

He's 100% correct. Same could be said about today's music industry with Gaga, Perry, Minaj and Bieber.

Does he take credit for his contributions to the crap and baloney? Or is he only talking about the crap and baloney of everyone else?

This is not John Goodman 'slamming' Hollywood! This is simply two lines of speech, presented without context and taken from a sensationalised Fox News article, taken from a Fox column… This scraping together of crumbs and printing it as gossip is a bit pathetic really… come on Perez. The trailer for The Artist looks great. Later in the article (and far more interestingly) JG is quoted as saying: “(When I was young) we didn’t have problems with black and white, or that Charlie Chaplin didn’t talk. It will be very interesting to see how the new generation of audiences embraces this film,” he said. “I think they will be very intrigued to participate in a film where they aren’t spoon-fed.”

John Goodman is correct, Hollywood needs to get back to writing and filming good movies not grasping at straws by remaking movies that were big in their day! Some of the Original versions (Karate Kid! Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) are classics and should have been respected as such and not touched! And sequels and prequels of movies is getting a bit much…go out and purchase rights to some great books with original characters in them!! And stop making celebrities out of Blog writers (Yes I am talking about you MARIO), reality stars that have zero talent (Paris Hilton) and the like!

Re: NoMoreTalkingHorses – I've seen John Goodman interviewed on numerous occasions and I must say that for an actor he is an extremely inarticulate man.

  11. 11

I totally disagree with Mr. Goodman. EVERYTHING Hollywood puts out is genius and pure cinematic gold…

  12. 12

Always been sequels and fivequels. How many Tarzan and Thin Man Movies? Great movies, dont' hate; even Classic Best Picture Academy Award winners had sequels, Bells of St. Mary, The Miniver Story, The Sting II…

  13. 13

He's right. Some people in Hollywood believe in making movies just for the sake of making them and not because they might be good. Look at how many were completely pointless to bother making, and yes, John had some duds too. You have to sometimes do the crap movies to survive and succeed. We don't NEED reboots or mindless sequels (what is "Saw" on now? 25? :-p). While SOME sequels have been successful, about 75% weren't needed.
