Jersey Shore's Vinny Is Under Fire For "Rape Rap"

| Filed under: MTVMusic MinuteSad Sad

Chances are, you've heard Vinny Guadagnino's first single today. It dropped this morning, but no sooner did it hit the Internet did the nation's largest anti-sexual assault organization RAINN get wind of it and now, they're blasting the reality star for his flippant lyrics about rape.

For those of you who's ears haven't indulged in Vinny's first musical venture, at one point the guido raps about having sex with a stripper and "actin like I'm raping it." A rep for the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN) points out what a "dangerous message" this is sending out and adds:

"The lyrics in Vinny Guadagnino’s new rap song that glorify rape are ignorant. Trivializing this violent crime sends a dangerous message to the public. Use of the term 'actin' like' doesn't mitigate the harm this crime has on survivors of sexual violence. We hope that Mr. Guadagnino will reconsider his stand on this issue and leverage his platform to reinforce a zero tolerance policy for sexual violence, as he has with bullying."

They make a good point. They always do.

We suppose he heard their message back to him loud and clear as the video has since been pulled from the Youtube and Vinny just tweeted, “Whoa! Some people really know how to take things out of context ! … It was fun though!”

Yeah … he still doesn't quite get it, but at least his management team does!

Just another ignorant meat head who is an anti-woman douche….the lyrics are offensive…Rape is not a joke considering it is at epidemic porportions AND with the violence and prejudice against woman all over the world…so sick of it and women, come on SPEAK UP!! This is whack.

  2. 2

what a pile of fucking SHIT!!!!

  3. 3

he has such a way with words doesn't he

  4. 4

I like Vinny but OMG that is the dumbest song ever.

  5. 5

    he's a horrible rapper

Re: sanfran1 – Agreed. And this habit of referring to women as 'it' drives me nuts. Dehumanizing women makes it easier to abuse them.

  7. 7

what the fuck?? for some STUPID reason i always thought he was the "nice" one - who in the world would talk like this to women?? not only the raping bullshit but calling women bitches and talking about their bodies as if they're inanimate objects? what a fucking TOOL. i hope he goes the way of "the situation", ends up looking 50 when he's 30 from tanning and drinking too much and just fucking DISAPPEARS. Hey Vinny! i know you're reading this because you're such a fucking moronic dumbass - go fuck yourself, you fucking DOUCHE! Enjoy getting old and grey and never getting a real woman to stay with your sorry ass longer than she can spend your dwindling celeb-wannabe $$$. Asshole.

Fucking discusting. That is all I have to say.

I used to have such a crush on him, but he lost all respect from me. When will some people realize that NOTHINGG about RAPE is funny, or a joke.

It drives me insane when people (usually men) say that women are too sensitive about rape jokes, too. Its a fear that MILLIONS of women live with every single day and something the vast majority of men will never have to worry about.

Seriously Vinny, get a fucking life you piece of shit.

what an s$$hole…i really liked vinny too. no longer.

I love how this completely contradicts his "Hey Realitystar" monologue, or whatever it was called. He is what he is, and that is everything we see on Jersey Shore and none of what he thinks he is. "Acting like I'm raping it" - how can someone put so much idiocy in just one short sentence? Last nail in the coffin. Like so many others said, his mother must be so, so proud of him.

Re: rosebud99 – "Dehumanizing women makes it easier to abuse them" - exactly.
    Re: tateration2Re: sanfran1 – Agreed.

  14. 14

i used to like Vinny, but that is completely disgusting, and extremely offensive. I wonder if he would still think that rape wasn't such a big deal if his baby sister or his mom was raped.

    Re: tateration2 – Right On!!!!!

this song makes me sick. it is absolutely offensive toward women. rape is a serious social problem in today's society, and it should not be taken lightly. Vinny's lyrics are sexist and dehumanizing toward women. The content of this song makes women seem as merely sexual objects to men and he makes it seem that women are only on this world to please men. Women should never be called "bitches", we are strong minded human beings, that deserve respect. it is the media, and songs like that make equality a far stretch. I am appalled at his behavior. What a jerk.

  17. 17

Douchebag. He used the word and images full well knowing he'd have to comment everywhere and get free publicity. I can't wait until their 15 minutes is done.

  18. 18

Honestly……..I'm a woman and don't find it anymore offensive and insulting than what other well known rappers rap about. It was intended to be a joke! And since I'm being honest, all the other rappers who talk about this stuff in the songs aren't joking. So I find them more offensive than Vinny's little ploy to be funny. People over react to stupid shit!!! Give it a rest already!!! Vinny is a sweet guy regardless what anyone else thinks. This will not change my views on him! Find something more important to bitch about like world hunger!!!

i liked vinny so much, he was my favorite from jersey shore. he seemd the realest and like the only person in the house who had common sense. but after hearing that song i lost so much respect for him. the things he says sounds like stuff you'd hear mike "the situation" say, and ive hated him since day one. sooooo dissapointed.

  20. 20

Holy crap. I have to admit I am a tad addicted to Jersey Shore and I really thought he was the decent one of the lot… this is disgusting.

  21. 21

    Re: Frostypop – You're delusional.

  22. 22

This surprise and annoys me because I thought out of all e boys in the jersey house he was the most decent. I understand lots of boys this age are completely unaware of the power of words and just don't get how serious rape etc is VERY annoying. People need to get that rape isn't sexual it's a form of violence. They need to teach this shit at school my god!!!

  23. 23

Re: sanfran1 – So true! He is a piece of shit. Even if his music wasn't offensive, it would still suck. Not only does he have the audacity to put out this garbage, but he also defends it. Like what's to take out of context Vinny? You're an idiot. Also, referring to women as bitches isn't degrading enough; women are people, not 'it'.

  24. 24

Play nice everyone. We are all entitled to our own opinion. I really don't think it's any more offensive than some of the stuff that's already out there. But yes he was vulgar, our Vinny seems to be trying too hard to create a "bad boy" image. Stay sweet Vinny, we like u better that way!

  25. 25

Re: Everything popular is wrong. – Just as stated above. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and mine matters just as much as yours does. Truly, some of the other music that is out in this world is a hell of a lot worse than this. People rap about killing other people, selling drugs, rape and all kinds of other BS that makes absolutely no sense but I don't see anyone lashing out at them for saying those things. Why is it that JUST Vinny is being picked on for this and not the others?!?

  26. 26

Re: Everything popular is wrong. – On another note. I'm not dillusional, just expressing my opinion. I guess the motto here is that if you have nothing negative to say about it, then don't say anything at all huh? Sorry that I refuse to stoop to that level.
