Four Famous Ladies Fight For The Coveted Eponine Role In Les Misérables

| Filed under: Film FlickersScarlett JohanssonTaylor SwiftEvan Rachel WoodLea Michele

So far, the casting for the new musical movie version of Les Misérables has been spot on. Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne and Geoffrey Rush are filling out the roster quite nicely, but there is one role still open that has everyone buzzing and as of right now, it sounds like four young ladies are in the lead for the coveted part.

Right now Taylor Swift, Lea Michele, Scarlett Johansson and Evan Rachel Wood are all in the running for role of Eponine, each bringing something different, yet equally desirable to the role. Like ScarJo. She "brings acting ability, and she can really sing," but Rachel "brings her indie cred" that Tom Hopper is such a big fan of. Obviously, casting Swifty would be a risky, but profitable move for all as her name will bring in an audience all it's own. However, Princess Lea - who played Young Cosette in the Broadway show and Eponine at the Hollywood Bowl show - reportedly "knocked it out of the park” during her audition and if you ask us, she's got the most to offer the production in skill and publicity.

But that's just our opinion. Who would U like to see in the role?

Lea Michele!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! she's the only one that makes since. personally i feel taylor swift shouldn't even be considered…

  2. 2

Come on… Scarlett Johansson can really sing? Are you freaking kidding me? And acting abilities? Which? She's got two faces: mad face and eat me face, and they're actually pretty similar. And don't even get me started on Taylor Swift! I really like Evan, she can sing, act and she's pretty. Leah is a great singer and a good actress, but I just can't get pass how snobby she looks most of the time.

  3. 3

Why would anyone even need to think about this! Lea Michele all the way

  4. 4

How many of these girls even knew who Victor Hugo was? My vote is for Lea Michele. She's probably the only one who has read the novel.

  5. 5

Lea Michele, PLEASE. NOT Taylor Swift. She can't handle that strong of a song. She just CAN'T.

  6. 6

I like all 4 but if there is what the field is narrowed down to then either Lea or Evan and I favor Lea by a mile. Scarlett is all wrong for this and Taylor should not even be considered. Her acting sucks and she really does not have a big range vocally.

  7. 7

so three real actresses and a talentless celebrity whose fame wont die…cough taylor swift cough.

  8. 8

Not a Glee fan but I think the best choice is Lea Michele. She has a strong singing voice. Taylor Swift? LOL!

  9. 9

    Its Tom Hooper not Hopper…

  10. 10

I hope for Evan, she is by far the most superior actress. I'm not sure about her vocals, but I'm sure she'll manage. After all, it's not like it's live.

  11. 11

Scar Jo is a BIG JOKE but Taylor is an even BIGGER ONE!! LOL Come on Scar cant sing and Taylor cant act and she has zero vocal range! As for her profitable "audience" it's nothing but tweens how probably never even heard of book. Best bet is Lea, who's voice will nail every song, or Rachel who's a great actress, never heard her sing though.

  12. 12

They are all too old… Cast a teenager.

  13. 13

My first choice is Evan Rachel Wood and second would be Lea Michele. Period. They other two are just a bad dream. A really bad dream.

  14. 14

lea michele all the way, she was great as ephonine at hollywood bowl concert 2008 just before glee.

  15. 15

Anyone who says it should be anyone other than Lea, has not actually seen the musical….and if they did….then they didn't get it!

  16. 16

i love taylor swift!! i do agree she's probably not right for the role, but she is an amazing singer..

  17. 17

    Lea Michele!

  18. 18

    lol @ Taylor Swift!

  19. 19

Good God they are all way too old-Eponine is supposed to be around 17 yrs old. Find a talented YOUNG voice-how hard is that???

  20. 20

OMG DUHHH OFCOURSE LEA MICHELE ALL THE WAYY ! she's the most deserving, and has the best voice between all of them.

  21. 21

I love Taylor Swift but she doesn't have a strong theatrical voice, nor can she act. ScarJo bringing "acting credibility" is laughable, she's horrible. I can't say much for Rachel but Lea is the best choice between the four.

  22. 22

Evan Rachel Wood is my number one choice. I'm tired of the other 3.. can't stand to even see that Lea Michele anymore!

  23. 23

Lea Michelle or Evan Rachel Wood. Scarlett would be awesome as well but you've GOT to have a certain type of voice for Eponine. I've played Eponine twice, her role is very challenging and her songs are the hardest to sing well. As much as Lea Michele seems like a diva, I'm gonna go with her because this role needs to be cast perfectly.

Taylor Swift would make a decent Cosette but aside from that no thanks.

  24. 24

Taylor swift? Really? lol. Lea should definitely get it. She's perfect for it!

  25. 25

I'm not a fan of her but come on, lea michele is the only one even vaguely fit for this role.

  26. Mayle says – reply to this

    So who's playing Cosette???

  27. 27

I hate how NICE Perez has become, to say ScarJo has acting ablities? Are you serious? LOL I say go with an unknown. Lea is too much of a SNOT face. I would choose Rachel Evan Wood

  28. 28

First off, spot on casting? There are a few names in there that shouldn't be. And I would go with Evan, she is an amazing actress that can sing; there is a reason why Chicago was a hit and Phantom flopped on the screen. Lea would seem the perfect choice if this were a stage production, no she would be the perfect choice if this were on stage, but it's not. Lea is a great stage actress but it doesn't translate well on screen.

  29. 29

no we're sick of Glee and that Lea woman. Her voice is very whiney and high pitched. Plus we've heard enough of it. Personally I dont see this being a hit film. Im sure theyve tried many times before but it just doesnt translate to film.

  30. 30

taylor swift?? are you kidding me?? i like her, but no way could she pull off les mis. lea is definitely the frontrunner out of that group

  31. 31

They would all be awful, I'm losing all hope for this adaptation…

  32. 32

    lea michele FTW

  33. 33

Obviously LEA MICHELE is the right choice here. Strongest singer out of the four, a decent actor, debuted on Broadway at age 8 in Les Miz, and performed as Eponine already. Is anyone else out of these four as well-qualified as she is? Nope.

  34. 34

Definitlly Lea. She's been on Broadway since 8. She could defiantly handle it. I love Taylor, but, really, that's a joke.

  35. 35

It should definitely be Lea Michele, she's the only one out of the for that has Broadway experience if they don't pick her then it will the the 25th Anniversary concert all over again.

  36. 36

it has to be Ms Lea Michele she is the most talented one!!!!!

  37. 37

LEAH MICHELLE !!!!!! She has the most spectacular voice !!! Taylor Swift LOL she cant act

  38. 38

Obvioulsy Mz. Lea Michele is he best option. She has a nice range of voice and naturally is a "belter",has the brodway experience, she also brings in her audience it may not be as big as Taylor's but alot of people like Glee. Taylor is a good singer but doesnt have the brodway voice and not an actress. Scar Jo….um no.
