I haven't seen all the films on this list but this must have been a pretty shitty year because while Drive was pretty good and didn't get the recognition it deserved, J. Edgar was a horrible, boring mess. It pains me to say that because I really had high hopes for J. Edgar. I love Leo and think he is probably one of the best actors of his generation and he did a great job, but the movie itself was terrible, especially since it was a Clint Eastwood film. Normally, I love Clint's work as well but he really dropped the ball on that one.

I haven't seen any of these movies but i'm a little bitter about The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo the original was awesome don't understand the point of the remake. Anyway I'm surprised about The Help not being mentioned I thought it was such a good movie. Also J. Edgar I keep hearing it was a complete mess. We'll see.

Why is "the Help" not mentioned more?? Some of those women in that movie deserve oscars for their performance.

i think all of the movie choices are fine i just can't stand shailene woodley. i HATE her show secret life of the american teenager it has some of the worst acting i've seen on tv in a LONG time. i'm surprised its still on

Oh dear lord! While reading this I thought the worst thing I'd have to comment on was Drive, but now I see there are a whole slew of artsy-for-the-sake-of-artsy movies that were really quite terrible to watch. Drive, The Tree of Life? If either of them wins anything other than a technical award then I'll stop watching the awards shows. Both of them made me wish I could get the two hours each I wasted watching them. And the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo better be pretty damn good to justify both an American remake AND awards. I refrain from judging "War Horse" until I see it, but damn this is a poor list.

HUGO was long, rambling and boring. And the kids weren't even that cute! UGH!

Not really.but I'm pretty psyched that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows:Part 2 is on NBOR's list.because I'll be totally ecstatic that it'll win an Oscar nomination.and also, because those movies have been out for a while and also grew up reading the books and watching the movies.so I'm hoping it'll be Oscar reconized.
