Did You Know That Steven Spielberg Wanted Raiders Of The Lost Ark To End Differently?

Now you do!

In a new interview, one of the greatest directors of our time reveals that he almost had one of his most iconic films end much differently than it actually did. It was Steven Spielberg's dream to make Indiana Jones, but he admits now that the first flick, Raiders of The Lost Ark, could have turned out a whole lot differently.

We all know the ending - a bunch of other-worldy spirits come out of the ark through the sand and do away with all those pesky Nazis - but that wasn't the original ending of the of the script and Steven reveals he had serious doubts about the ending when it was first in post. He said:

"I was a little bit dubious about what happens when they open the ark. What actually is going to come out of the ark? There were a lot of crazy things in the script. I wasn't sure how much we could actually get on the screen. We made a lot of it up as we were in postproduction."

Whatever you did, it seems to have clearly worked! Three sequels and a millions upon millions of dollars later, doesn't seem like you did anything wrong!

Ah, Hollywood! How funny that the magic of the movies sometimes just ends up being purely accidental.

Who gives a shit. A lot of movies end differently then they were originally written. But his quote above does not really say he had a different ending in mind as much as it was unclear how his vision would work.

Perez, fuck you and your misleading titles, you asshole. Nowhere in the paragraph does it say he wanted it to "end differently". It just says he wasn't sure how it would end in post production. This was because he wasn't sure of what they could get away with, FX wise, for 1981. But again.. nowhere does it say that he wanted it to end differently. Asshole.

Where do you see he wanted his film to end differently. Still learning to read English, aren't you, Perez?

Spielberg also wanted Indy to have loved and left a preteen Marion Ravenwood, so let's be glad cooler heads prevailed when that movie was made.
