Shame Has A Solid Opening Weekend…Even Though It's Rated NC-17!
Could this pave the way for more NC-17 movies in theaters???
Despite the fact that the Michael Fassbender/Carey Mulligan-starring sex addiction drama Shame (above) was TOO inappropriate for an R-rating, the film still got a theatrical release and it had a solid opening!
Shame grossed a total of $361,181 over the weekend, and it'll probably bring in quite a bit more when it expands from 10 to 19 theaters next weekend.
Here's what Fox Searchlight executive vice president Sheila DeLoach had to say about it:
"NC-17 films always create a challenge, but the late shows were very strong. With the midnight shows being sold out, it’s encouraging that we’ll do well with a young, edgy audience."
We're glad to hear this, and we'll look forward to seeing how Shame fares next weekend! Good luck!!!!

Fassbender is a very troubled and abusive man, but unfortunately also a great actor. This film looks very good.
boring, I've seen pornos with more intensity than this
So did they show his dong?
Not my kind of movie, sorry
