Crucified Santa Skeleton Causes Outrage In Virginia Town

A display outside a Virginia courthouse caused outrage from local citizens.

A skeleton was dressed as Santa and then nailed to a cross.

The silent protest was almost immmediately dismantled and many came to take pictures.

The courthouse opposed holiday decorations but reneged on its policy to allow the first ten applicants ser up displays.

This guy was one of the lucky ten.

    now that's funny

Christmas has become ridiculous. It is time people stopped pretending it is still what it was 100 years ago, and take a good look at what it has become - a competitive, highly stressful money drain. This is distasteful, but if it gets people talking about how perverse Christmas has become, then good.

Notice that Perez doesnt say anything negative about it, but if it was a transvetite being crucified, he would have been outraged.

The guy has a point in his message but made it pretty distastefully. People do need to be reminded, though, that Christmas is not about Black Friday deals and competition over who gives or gets the best gifts, which is what it has become.

isn't it a skeleton in a santa suit and not a santa in a skeleton suit lol?

I think you're wrong though. Christmas is NOT about Jesus or a religion… It IS about Santa Clause and it is about the winter solstice. Jesus was NOT born in December nor on December 25th… However for centuries winter solstice has been celebrated

I have no idea why Christmas has become so offensive to so many people. I am not offended when I see other religions celebrating their holidays. Why is Christmas suddenly so offensive? Smells like a liberal attack to me.

Liberals are so funny. They are so hypocritical.

it's a bit morbid, but not that big of a deal. christmas is derived from a pagan holiday anyway..it's nothing really to do with christianity. jesus wasn't even born in december.

Re: JennyJJJ – Actually, it is a religious Christian conservative attack. It seems that if you put up something like that, the Christians tear it down because it violates their beliefs. Too bad, it probably could have been used to explain to children about respect for art and respect for freedon of speech — even when you disagree. Now they can just remove all of the displays, because the town obviously cannot protect free speech from the distructive force around them.

Don't even pull that bullshit. I'm a liberal Catholic, and I find that disgusting, not just as a Catholic, but as a HUMAN. Honestly, how many little kids SAW that and were freaked out because they thought Santa was dead?!
