Composer Danny Elfman Drops Out Of The Hunger Games

Ugh! Hasn't Katniss been through enough??

This Hunger Drama broke our little nerdy hearts!

Academy Award-nominated composer, Danny Elfman, has decided not to score The Hunger Games movie.

Elfman blames scheduling. The Nightmare Before Christmas composer decided currently also working on Men in Black 3 and Johnny Depp's vampier movie, Dark Shadows.

We get it Danny. A Game where children murder each other isn't dark enough for you! You just HAD to go do a vampier move with your bff Tim Burton!

Well, fine then! We The Hunger Games have already replaced you! Lion's Gate Announced that Oscar WINNER James Newton Howard (The Batman Begins composer) will be taking Danny's place.

Producers say that the change will have no effect on the post-production and release schedules for the film.

Too bad. But I'm a big fan of James Newton Howard's work so I'm not that broken up about it. Actually I think I may prefer him. Can't wait for the film anyway ! :)

    a vampier?

  3. 3

I thought Hans Zimmer composed for Batman begins.

    decided currently also working ???
    vampier ???

He didn't say the movie wasn't dark enough. He just doesn't have enough time. *sign*

From Firstshowing.net: "Danny Elfman, who last worked on Real Steel and Gus Van Sant's Restless, is currently finishing work on Barry Sonnenfeld's Men in Black 3 and Tim Burton's Dark Shadows, and is also set for Sam Raimi's Oz: The Great and Powerful and Tim Burton's Frankenweenie, too."

And, by the way, James Newton Howard never won an Oscar. Nominated a lot of time, but he never won.

At first I thought "vampier" was a typo but no, you've obviously snuck some of your illiterate cuban relatives over to do you work.
    Re: magicalstephie – He did.

    Re: magicalstephie
    With James Newton Howard.

To say that Howard composed the music for Batman Begins is misleading. Both Hans Zimmer and Howard composed the music for the film, but the gutsy, triumphant, wonderful score people are thinking of is all on Zimmer, while Howard handled the quieter tones for the film. Howard's work stands on it's own, however, like Lady in the Water (beautiful music, no matter how you feel about the film), The Sixth Sense, The Village, Peter Pan, King Kong, Atlantis, The Water Horse, Dinosaur, and many other wonderful scores.

I couldn't find a better replacement! While I love Danny Elfman, I think this is a good save for the movie :)
