Ke$ha’s Cover Of Bob Dylan’s Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright

| Filed under: Music MinuteMiley CyrusAdeleStingKe$ha

Amazing! How is this Ke$ha?!?

If we didn't know who was singing we would have NEVER guessed it was the girl who brushes her teeth with Jack Daniel's.

This version of Bob Dylan's Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright(above) was recorded for music Amnesty International’s upcoming Chimes Of Freedom: The Songs Of Bob Dylan compilation.

Ke$ha says covering Dylan was emotional experience. She explained:

“Getting a chance to cover a Bob Dylan song for Amnesty Interntaional was a massive deal for me. I pulled up my Garage Band on my laptop and just sang through the song once, and by the end of it I was just crying hysterically alone on my bed."

The producers ended up using that recording as her contribution to the 76-song compilation, which also features Adele, Miley Cyrus and My Morning Jacket, among others, and will be released on January 24.

Other artists included on the collection include Miley Cyrus, Adele, Cage the Elephant, Dave Matthews Band, Ziggy Marley, Maroon 5, My Chemical Romance, and Sting.

  3. 3

Actually making me nauseous, sorry awful!

  4. 4

oof perez, times like these make me realize how novice your music taste is. this is plain terrible. really atrocious. actually worse than jessica simpson's these boots are made for walking.

  5. 5

    VOMIT

  6. 6

Obviously people aren't gonna like it. She's crying and it's low quality. I love it though.

  7. 7

Bob is an artist and a poet, this pig can't sing her way out of a wet paper bag. and her "EMOTION" IS CAUSING REVULSION. I'll bet Bob is too busy puking to comment

  8. 8

Re: Ivybby – "and it's low quality. I love it though. ' i think this comment shows something rather sad about your life.

  9. 9

it sounds great and its raw. I think people won't like it because they are to hung up auto-tune.

  10. 10

who the hell let someone like Ke$ha touch a Bob Dylan song? The people in charge of putting together this album are obviously only interested in selling albums than actually paying tribute to Bob Dylan or else they would of let someone deserving with real talent record this. My ears were bleeding just listening to this disaster, and Don't think twice its alright is one of my all time favorite songs by Bob Dylan. Please Ke$ha,just stick to shitty pop songs that disguise your voice with auto tune.

  11. 11

People just automatically hate this because Ke$ha sang it. It's not as bad as you all are saying.

  12. 12

I liked it. I thought it was really emotional and real. More of a monologue than a song, but you could feel the hurt in her voice. She should do more stuff like that and less dance music.

  13. 13

    "Amazing!"?
    .
    What?
    .
    Really?
    .
Mario, just how much Payolla are you receiving for your insane recommendation of this swill?

  14. 14

I hardly recognized the song. This is awful.

  15. 15

You think this is GOOD? You should have your rights to speak to celebrities revoked. She's trying to sound all raw like Adele but she is barely understandable let alone anywhere near good. I know you want to have your friends backs but this is just pathetic.

  16. 16

Re: raypearson – Have you seen yourself in the mirror? Ke$ha might not be the hottest shit on the planet but I'm sure most people on the planet would agree that you look much more like a pig than she does.

  17. 17

i actually kinda like it. not what i expected out of her

  18. 18

she sounds like a sloppy drunk rambling with a bottle of scotch in her sweaty cum stained hands! Just depressing shit and very contrived.

  19. 19

having seen pics of her on the beach in a bikini she certainly is not attractive! Seriously she has the flattest ass Ive seen on anybody under 85 years old. Old womans body with a sloppy slags head!

  20. 20

I don't like kesha, but this was freakin beautiful. i love that she was crying and you could hear her breathing, it was so authentic. i'm not going to automatically hate any song just because it's a bob dylan cover done by kesha. if i heard some indie chick at a bar do an emotional cover like that, i'd be floored.

  21. 21

I think it's a great cover. She did really good!

  22. 22

Ugh! And now that she's destroyed a classic…I guess we're suppose to accept her as a "serious artist" (if there is such a thing anymore) NOT GONNA HAPPEN!

  23. Thaye says – reply to this

    23

I am saddened by the hatred, ignorance and shallow insults in many of these comments. Too many.
    That is all.

  24. 24

Omg people get so mad… I never got that if people hate it so much why say anything it just makes you look bitter and jealous… I'm a huge Ke$ha fan and I think it sounds good, not great but good… It's cool if you don't like her… I'll just never understand peoples need to comment on things and say OMG SHE IS SO UGLY, a cows ASS SHITTING would sound better than her! People who think this is music should go jump off a cliff and KILL themselves etc… Positivity FTW~!

  25. 25

First of all, this is fricking beautiful. Yes, it isn't a glossy pop track; it doesn't sound anywhere near professional, but that's the whole point. It's supposed to be raw, and that's what makes it so great. I'm actually quite happy that they aren't glossing over this track with autotune, which they could easily do.
For everyone who's bashing on Ke$ha and calling her fat and ugly, right, because you have such great taste. Since when did talent have to come in a midriff-baring porn-star-esque package? Ke$ha's wonderful because she doesn't give a fuck what anyone else thinks.
And for everyone who says she has no right to sing a Bob Dylan song because she's just a drunken autotuned whore, she chose to do pop music because she could be unique and, of course, make money. Her favourite band is the Rolling Stones, and she definitely has appreciation for good music, even if some people think that her music doesn't fall into that category. So just because she's a pop artist and one that you either love or hate, that doesn't mean she can't have emotions and it doesn't mean that she's a bad singer.
She's actually an amazing singer. And the fact that she can sing with such beauty (and I agree, it isn't the most aesthetic noise, but the emotion is so beautiful) proves that.

  26. 26

Re: ZubatZubat – its opinion. you think only those who love it can comment? God knows these popstars have enough sycophantic fans licking their buttholes so they should take the flipside of that too…the haters. I think she's a no talent sloppy mess and anybody could sing her songs with her autotuning. And she sounds drunk on this record and I for one dont wanna hear a sloppy drunk wallowing in misery! And good luck to her singing a whole album like this…fuck me what a depressing disaster that would be.

  27. 27

First, "all right" is two words, not one. Second, she performs the song, not covers it. You don't know what covering a song means, do you, Perez?

When I first saw the track list for this upcoming CD and saw "Ke$ha 'Don't Think Twice, It's All Right'" I thought, "What is this, some kind of a joke?"

Having now heard Ke$ha's take on the song, I can say that she has more than lived down to my expectations. That is really, really atrocious.

"Don't Think Twice" is, in my opinion, one of Dylan's hardest songs to sing. There are seemingly conflicting emotions in it (sadness, remorse, defiance, scorn, etc), and very few real singers are able to get a grasp on it and deliver it in a convincing manner. Fortunately, most real singers know their limitations and know well enough not to attempt what they cannot deliver.

Ke$ha, however . . . Yes, her version of "Don't Think Twice" is a travesty, a joke, an injustice. I sure hope that 4-CD set is cheap, ’cause I don't want to pay good money to be exposed to such crap.

  28. 28

Re: Thaye – you stated so much with so little words, I appreciate that very much! thank you!

  29. 29

Re: raypearson – me liking a low quality song show smuch about my life? Lmao retard.

  30. 30

this is incredible. So genuine and honest, It's beautiful. Made me love Ke$ha all over again. I hope she does more stuff like this..

  31. 31

    Was she sick or something?
