What did we do to deserve such good fortune! You guys just gave us a new album back in April and already another!
Dave Grohl has confirmed via the band's official blog that the band is working on some new material to release in 2012. Though things are in the early stages, he seems confident that he and the other Fighters can write and record a new album in the coming year.
On the blog, he writes:
"We're not finished yet. There are still more shows to play, more songs to write, more albums to record, for years to come. I mean if you would have told me 17 years ago that in 2012 I would be writing songs for our eighth studio album…well."
Well…YEAH! We're stoked about it!
Dave also commented on his excitement that the band is nominated for six gongs including Album Of The Year for 'Wasting Light' at next year's 54th annual Grammy Awards. He added:
"The fact that a rock and roll record, made in a garage, completely analogue to tape with no help from computers, could be a Number One album around the world, and get a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year… well… these days that's no small feat. It's truly inspiring, and it makes us feel like the luckiest band in the world. So thanks. It means everything to us."
We're happy for you, Dave. And your bandmates. It's a well deserved honor.
Now, less yapping, more writing! Let's shoot for double header Album of the Year nominations!
