Now that is a set of pipes!

Along with four of the most acclaimed Phantoms - Simon Bowman, Earl Carpenter,John Owen-Jones and the yummy Ramin Karimloo - she performed the title track from the musical and we'll give her credit, she performed it WELL!

Have a look for yourself in the video (above) and see if you don't agree that Nicole would make a lovely Christine!

She is horrible. I'm embarrassed for her!! This woman has the audacity to judge other people's singing?

  2. 2

    amazing!

  3. 3

    Re: The Audge – Really???

  4. 4

OMG She is amazing! Love her! Awesome vocalist, awesome dancer, beautiful, sexy… this girl deserves so much more credit and success than she actually gets!

  5. 5

You know, I was so worried about this when I heard she was going to be singing, but she actually sounds pretty good! I don't think her voice is quite high enough to play Christine, but it isn't terrible by any stretch of the imagination!

  6. 6

Those last notes… wow! It almost sounds like she's playbacking. If not, she did a stellar job! Really impressed.

  7. 7

    No denying she has talent.

  8. 8

I thougt she did a very good job, especially in the last minute where she belts those high notes.

  9. 9

Considering she was ill, only had 2 days of preparation and is a pop singer who desn't do this for living, I think it's safe to say she nailed it. She's obviously not up there with our usual Christines but with a couple of months of intense training, she could very well play the part with greatness. It's the second time she surprises people with her musical theatre skills (remeber her as Maureen in Rent, last year?). She should definitely consider a career on Broadway.

  10. 10

her voice isn't strong enough to play christine, but she did okay. after the guys sang, it kind of made her voice sound dull

  11. 11

Re: SovietKitsch – Acording to Ramin Karimloo and John Owen-Jones it's all live. Plus I find it very hard to believe that Andrew Lloyd Webber would allow anyone to go on such a massive stage just to mime some of the most important notes of this song.

  12. 12

Re: The Audge – Clean out your ears. Who do you like, the horrific Britney Spears I suppose? Or Katy Perry? Neither of them can sing worth a damn.

  13. 13

she killled it she has talent haters don't like her she beautiful has a body and she could sing her ass out

  14. 14

Wow! Just wow! That was great! I was prepared to watch her massacre the song, but damn if she didn't surprise me! Well done! And to "The Audge" … let's see what you got!

  15. 15

    Amazing! Gave me chills.

  16. 16

Re: The Audge – You clearly have no talent, otherwise you would be famous. Therefore, following your logic, you're not qualified to judge her singing.

  17. 17

Poor Lloyd Webber… he must be crying for allowing this lol . Obviously it wasnt good in the standards of that kind of music. But it was good in another note cause got to consider she is a simple pop singer. Obviously there were notes she couldnt manage and they lowered some keys for her to be able to sing it comfortably, I think the ending was nicely prepared. I still dislike her tho but she did an ok job. Next time she should just keep singing her generic music and stop messing around with the big scores.

  18. 18

SHE IS A CLASSICALLY TRAINED OPERA SINGER! If you ask me she should be singing music like this for a living because her pop songs are shitty and she always sounds terrible when she performs them. but THIS, this Phantom song is wonderful & this is where her career is, if you ask me. I'm not a fan of hers AT ALL but this was lovely, weak in some spots but over all a very good job she did.

  19. 19

when it comes to her singing shes highly underrated. i think when it comes to her singles/albums shes doing the wrong kind of songs, she needs to move away from the mainstream pop and go more soulful.

  20. 20

clearly the author of this piece has NO idea of what they speak, michael crawford is the best & most well known of all the phantoms & Nicole sounds likes a frightened school girl WAY in over her head, hard to watch without saying UUGGGHHHH

  21. 21

she did ok for a pop singer

  22. 22

WTF????? Are you people on drugs???? Audge…you nailed it right on. She did ok at the end, but the rest of it???? Seriously people….she was stunt casting with mid level talent. Yeah…she looked good, but most of the song until the end…she was sub par.

  23. 23

    lol that was funny. trash.

  24. 24

that was horrible! that'd be good if it was from a community theatre but no. just bad.
i have 2nd hand embarrassment for her :(

  25. 25

Umm….you do realize that even in the stage show the high note at the end is pre-recorded. All in all, she did a fair job. Not great, not terrible.

  26. 26

I have to disagree with you Perez, that was not done just well I thought it was GREAT! I had no idea she was such a great actress and singer!!!

  27. 27

Re: The Audge – What do you consider AWESOME then? That was freaking gorgeous to anybody who likes musicals.

  28. 28

    Beautiful! She nailed it.

  29. 29

The students at the music school I work at would blow this chick out of the water. Overrated.

    30

    Bravo! Beautiful!
Considering this isn't her genre, she certainly stepped out and up; she did a wonderful job! I had a goosebumps moment. They were all terrific.
    World's her oyster.

  31. 31

You have got to be kidding. This is not even the key the song is song in. Her articulation is terrible. She can't change octaves smoothly. There is no clarity to her tone which is the most important part of the angelic vocal role of Christine.

  32. 32

Re: sookie949 – YES! Michael Crawford was the best!

  33. 33

Re: The Audge – Right on Audge!

  34. 34

Wow Wow Wow. This has always been my favorite play and I was worried when I heard she's be singing the part of Christine, but she nailed it. Anyone who says otherwise needs to get their hearing checked or step up and show what they can do. That was really well done

  35. 35

Re: The Audge – Wow. Your a bit of a wank for saying that. Do you even know anything about Opera singing? She's hitting soprano notes, which is VERY HIGH, people like Britney Spears for example can't even hit that high of a note. That girl has massive vocal range. I wasn't really that much a fan of Nicole - but after watching this I certainly am. Very surprised and amazed of how much capacity in vocals she has. Bravo Nicole!

  36. 36

Re: mothrarockstar – NOTHING was prerecorded. What you see in this performance is 100% LIVE. If you don't believe me, some of the Phantoms (like John Owen-Jones who was the first Phantom/guy to sing) actually tweeted saying it was all Nicole, everything was live. FYI, the Royal Variety Show never does any pre-recordings. They never allow it. Might want to do your research before making a false comment.

  37. 37

I didn't say if she was pre-recorded or not. What I'm saying is that even in the broadway show, the final note of that song is pre-recorded. It has been since Sarah Brightman originated the role. It's done because doing as many shows as they do hitting that note consistently is harmful for your voice.

  38. 38

that was so disgusting i couldnt even make it to the end she has a repulsive voice and she is too slow.

  39. 39

THAT WAS HORRIBLE….when the guy started to sing he blew her away. She does not belong singing that song. Why would they invite her to sing that? It's one of my favorite songs ever!

  40. 40

    Average at best.

  41. 41

    AMAZEBALLS

  42. 42

She is not singing the last crescendo. It's playback.

  43. 43

Re: ChopChop69 – No its not!!

  44. 44

I like Nicole because i feel she is a genuine person and very, very nice. But let's face it, the guys owned her! =) Her voice is good when it's the higher note. But when it's low, you can barely hear her. And sometimes i pity her too because she looks like a porn star and her mouth is horrid-looking. The dress is very gorgeous though.

  45. 45

she did a good job. But those guys were a league above. Such masculinity and power….ooh I wanna ride all four of them!

  46. 46

Re: xoxo_anonymous – OMG I agree. No one can touch Crawford. And yeah Nicole was just ok. She can't compete with Sarah Brightman.

  47. 47

That was absolutely NOT her singing once the final soprano notes start at the end of the song…it sounds too much like the recording. Sorry honey, try again.

Oh and for those of you claiming ALW wouldn't let someone who couldn't sing perform one of his songs I will now refer you to the film version of POTO where the Phantom himself could not sing to save his soul!

  48. 48

I don't think that she's a bad singer… I just think she shouldn't sing phantom… She doesn't have the right voice for christine.

  49. @v@ says – reply to this

    49

If she sang Phantom regularly, she could KILL it in every Christine criteria. The voice is a muscle, and can be polished and strengthened like an athlete. She sang sooo well for a one off.

  50. 50

Her voice is't bad but she's no Christine she's a pop star, I can't believe they put her up there with greats of musical theatre she was outshone completely…
