Archie Announces Two Year Mormon Mission!

| Filed under: Music MinutePerezTVDavid Archuleta

We'll miss U, Archie!

Check out the video (above) of David Archuleta announcing plans to go on a two year Mormon mission.

We'll be sad to lose two years of David's music, but we certainly understand how important this is to him, and we hope it's a fulfilling experience.

Good luck, and safe travels, David! See ya in 2014!!!

He's probably hoping that while he is gone, the homo's stop calling him Archie.

Wow.. remind me never to listen to this creepy mormon's music ever again. So weird. This is why people have negative aspects towards religions.

    Well, it's odd about Archuleta…

He's a big star in Asia, and has a big latin following. And his former label, Jive, had been sabotaging a number of their clients (like Ciara) when David left earlier this year (he quit, contrary to rumor) before Jive melted down and died a couple of months ago…

David was then apparently approached by a couple of other labels, but they reportedly wanted to push him in the same direction as Jive had attempted and he'd resisted: sexy sashaying and posing, which just isn't him. (And who would think it was?)

This month, he's appearing in the highest-rated program PBS airs each year, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert. And he's great.

Anyway, he seems to want to do this mission — or has been told that he wants it. So good luck to the dear boy.

If he comes to my door, I'll give him some cookies and a puppy.

    aww good for him!

  5. 5

    He's "walking" his beliefs.
    There's no money in it.
He takes a risk that whatever 'career' his has will evaporate…permanently…in his absence.
Life is short. (And so is he. lol!)

That's right Archie, go pray the gay away.

This is a big deal in my religion, and I'm proud of him for going even when there is a lot for him to leave behind. Godspeed, David!

To all the haters, it's HIS choice. There is nothing wrong with him doing something for himself for a change. I don't know why everyone has to hate on Mormons. David will be missed for sure but everyone still loves him and will enjoy his music when he gets back.
Stop the hate on him. Why are you even commenting on this if you don't like him.

  9. 9

good riddance, his music??? it sucks

Not familiar with his music, but a friend is Mormon, and do not get why so many people are against their religion. My friend's daughter also spent a year or two doing missionary work, that is what their church believes in, so what? Many other Christian churches also sponsor missionary work - it is not just a Mormon thing. I am not Mormon myself, but see a lot of hate and ignorance out there.

No one will remember him in two years. I barely remember him now.

Re: lettheskyfall – Your comment makes absolutely no sense. Why is it that people have negative aspects towards religions? What makes him a creepy mormon? Do you know him personally? I know his family personally, and very well. They are all wonderful people who are kind hearted and well intentioned. they'd never wish any bad on anyone, yet you, an ignorant moron, who can't even put together a decent comment on this post, is talking garbage about someone you don't even know. You have issues, and you need to learn how to gather your thoughts into a complete point.

ya know, good for him! To be honest I've always seen him following this path instead of a huge music career. He'll go on his mission, get back home, get married and have kids and he probably won't have a huge music career. his career is already fizzling…. but I think this path is more him.

I'm not Mormon, but I respect David's decision to follow his faith and to go on his Mission. I always admire him as a singer but more as a person. He has an amazing voice, and for those who had been in his concert/s knew how amazing and good he was (still is). I'll miss him so much but, two years will be a long, long time for his loyal fans without him. I rather wait for two whole years than listening to those kind of songs that JB, Joe Jonas or other mediocre voice singers's songs. David didn't do nothing bad to others, he always says good things about others. I believe those who hate him and think that he is weird because he is different with them. He always tries to follow the rule and guided by his faith. Some people like JBmore than David A. JB is a little boy who already so messed-up though he is just 17 YO. David is a good example, he is a whole package. The comments from the haters even make David more lovable. Go on your mission David, May God bless you, guide you, help you and protect you always. I'll still be your fan the next 2 years or ten years as long as can be.

For a kid brainwashed by a fake religion that is based on 19th century's racist conman teachings, he's doing well for himself. Heee
