Surprise, Surprise! Somebody Else Suing James Cameron For Stealing The Idea For Avatar!

another writer suing over avatar idea

There have been so many lawsuits that they should probably start teaching classes about suing James Cameron over Avatar in law schools! LOLz!

To recap - way back in March '10, author Zhoe Shaomou filed a lawsuit against James Cameron over stealing the idea for Avatar, and he was seeking $145 million in copyright infringement.

Then earlier this month, sci-fi enthusiast Eric Ryder sued Mr. Cameron because he claimed he came up with the idea for Avatar while working for James' production co. back in '97.

Now, sci-fi writer Bryant Moore is suing James for over $2 BILLION, because….drum roll…..he claims the Avatar director stole his idea for the movie!

APPARENTLY, the concept was taken from Bryant's screenplays Aquatica and Descendants: The Pollination. Uh huh.

Oh, and according to the lawsuit, similarities in Avatar and Bryant's scripts include the following…

"…bioluminescent flora/plant life, unbreathable atmospheres, matriarch support of hero vs. heroine, spiritual connections to environment and reincarnation, appearance of mist in scene, sunlight to moonlight, crackling from gargantuan foliage, blue skin/green skin and battle scene on limbs/branches.

Sorry Bryant, but we've heard it way too many times before! Unless U can provide some seriously concrete evidence that the idea was stolen, we don't see this lawsuit going anywhere.

What do U think? Did this guy ACTUALLY come up with the idea for Avatar???

Been involved in such lawsuits and even when writers can produce paychecks for their writing efforts on a script in question — that doesn't matter. You have to prove section by section that your exact work was used and even then, it has to equal a certain percentage in order to get screen credit and/or sue. CONCEPT is not a suing issue. No one can sue for "concept" — it's just not possible. Intellectual property is another thing all together. Should Bryant prove he "pitched" the idea past Cameron at some point, that would be intellectual property stolen

Seriously, who gives a shit? It's all knock-offs from pochahontas but nobody cares. Avatar is an awesome movie, Cameron is an awesome director so all the more power to him that he made it. Move on with your lives guys…

Honestly, Avatar is shit. It is technically perfect, that's true, but the plot sucks and so does the script. You could watch it for 5 minutes and already be able to tell how it's gonna end. Just eye candy…
