letterman extortionist gets a job

This is an appropriate place for this guy to get a job! LOLz!

Joe Halderman, a former CBS News producer who tried to blackmail David Letterman back in '09, has just been hired on Investigation Discovery's On the Case with Paula Zahn.

As a reminder, Joe tried to extort $2 million from Dave, and he "threatened to release embarrassing details about the late night host's personal life."

Joe will work as a producer on ID's hour-long documentary crime program. Not bad for a guy who just got out of prison last year!

Here's what On the Case EP Scott Weinberger had to say about hiring Joe in a statement:

"On behalf of On The Case’s production team, we have been impressed with Joe Halderman’s professional accomplishments as an Emmy award-winning producer for 48 Hours and CBS News."

"With the network’s prior approval, the team has brought Halderman on as a producer for On The Case. We are confident that Halderman will make significant contributions to the success of our award-winning investigative newsmagazine."

Let's hope ID doesn't regret this move! We're all about second chances - but this guy makes us very nervous.

What do U think? Will Letterman's extortionist behave himself on his new show???

Yeah, must be nice. I have three degrees, and no prison time on my record and can't find a job.

Re: Candy Barr – difference is the dude has the experience and track record as producer. his blackmail of letterman had nothing to do with his prior employment with 48hrs or CBS News. anyway, even if the dude attempts fraud or same shit again all the show has to do is fire him and bring him up on charges and he's sent to the big house. his career would really be finito then… next.

Paula Zahn does anything for publicity. She thinks she owns the upper east side of Manhattan. She clearly must not like Letterman. There's no reason to hire an extortionist unless you're trying hard to give the finger to industry insiders at CBS. Zahn loses jobs everywhere - from CBS to CNN and every point in between. And for a reason.
