Carlton Alfonso Ribero Says Fresh Prince's Aunt Viv Was Crazy!

| Filed under: TV NewsCelebrity FeudsWill Smith

As we all by now, Janet Hubert, the actress who played Aunt Viv on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air hated Will Smith and blames him for getting her fired from the show.

Wellllll, it looks like there was more to it than just that.

In a stand-up routine that Carlton Alfonso Ribero did a couple years ago, he shared some insight into why she was taken off the show, even calling her "crazy!"

Ribero suggests that she was a bad seed on the show and made it difficult to get along with her. He even recalls her fighting and yelling at other cast members, so naturally, he totally takes Will's side and agrees that she should have been taken off the show.

Hear what else he has to say about her and the cast at around the 2:28 mark (above).

….anytime you throw mud at someone , you get just as much on you as you get on them……will Smith does seem arrogant, her complaint about the racist nature of " The dozens" type pre-show humor is valid-AND I can totally see will Smith doing it…Crazy…with integrity perhaps…and coming from an IDIOT who publically Rapped That " He Likes White Girls"…or what ever at some ludracris club…well…Mr. Smith's case is better If everyone just shuts up…He needs to focus on his family and lay off the doughnuts..his Ass is well….HUGE!!!

Of course he's going to take Will's side! Why wouldn't he take the side of one of Hollywood's most successful actors? Granted, I believe Will over crazy Aunt Viv, but there's no way he'd take her side, even if she was right.

At first, I didn't like the change. But seeing her today, she's just bitter and classless. Just looking at her you could tell she's this uppidy black woman who think she's better than everyone else. Like when Perez quoted her saying that she was in the business for so long and they gave that snotty nosed punk his own show. I would have stfu, rode it out and wait for my turn to come. I haven't seen her in anything since. Maybe Broardway? She looks like one of thes Broadway brats. I love Alfonso. I still do the Carton dance, when someone tries to dance with me in the club.

Re: linwoo – You lost me after the first phrase. Just use complete sentences and you'll sound a lot more coherent and a lot less rambly.

Re: trinigirl123 – "uppity black woman" Really? Come on son, it's 2011! The rest of what you said I agree with however.

She is bitter and she certainly seemed entitled. She came across as a THE-AH-TAH actor who was much too good for this kind of step and fetchit fare! But you set yourself up for failure when you contract yourself to obligations you see and beneath you. I bet she hates Tyler Perry! LOL!

Re: LadaLove – -OK…Let me dumb this down for you. The dozens is name calling that is a throwback to slavery …when Blacks were sold a dozen at a time. The insults begin with You'r momma is so Black, old, ugly, fat etc….and it is a very insulting thing. As an educated Black woman and a moral woman I find this offensive. The woman you speak of was offended too, and complained to producers years ago, then she was fired from the show. She is a very well established actress and takes on many roles in the theater. The actor, Alfonzo Ribiera's ONLY claim to fame in recent years was a drunken onstage wrant where he "Rapped" about liking white girls.I would hardly call that a Valid performance. He was a drunken fool.As per Will Smith's Innappropriate " Dozens" type " Your Momma " Jokes, he came under criticizm by many different people including the NAACP. She may have been a diva, but this woman has some very valid points. That should clear things up for ya LaDaLove

Re: linwoo – Interesting. Even if her points were valid, the set appears to have been just too unpleasant for everyone else because of it. A set may not be the time and the place. It was a sitcom, and it would be a big damper on the funny if it were a chronic thing. Love your posts.

Alfonso is so funny! I loved this! Aunt Viv, "Mom #1" must have been a wacko! LOL

Alfonso WHO? I guess he's hoping Will, will throw him a bone, but he won't;ask D.J.Jazzy Jeff. I don't care, I really liked Janet Hubert! I I thought that Daphe Reed was bland and dull compared to Janet Hubert. Janet Hubert hit it dead on when she played Aunt Viv. She acted like a strong African America women, who had gone thru the civil rights movement of the 60's. Daphe Reed played Aunt Viv too comatosed. She was more like Donna Reed of the 50's. I was really dissapointed with the change. Say what you want, but Janet Hubert was WAY better than Daphe Reed. I would really like to see Janet Hubert in that kind roll again. As for Will Smith and fam. personally, I'm really sick of them. Talk about a whole family being so full of themselves.

Re: happygurl – Yeah, Janet was really, really good, in spite of being a bad social fit on that particular set.

Janet Hunert was the better Aunt Viv. I never liked the change when the new actress came along. That said, if you bite the hand the feeds you, you are going to get fired. She can really only blame herself for that.

    Re: happygurl

Actually, Will Smith was in the studio just a few weeks ago, recording a new track with Jazzy Jeff for Men in Black III. They are definitely still friends.
