Amanda Seyfried And Taylor Swift Offered Female Leads In Les Misérables!

We cannot even BEGIN to discuss how excited we are for this!

The cast is worth ticket prices ALONE!

Tom Hooper is hard at work on his film adaptation of the Broadway smash Les Misérables, with Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Sacha Baron Cohen having already signed on, and Eddie Redmayne recently taking the role of Marius and Aaron Tveit as Enjolras!

But now, we're hearing that two young ladies have been offered the arguably most-anticipated roles, and it appears that Amanda Seyfried will playing Cosette, while Taylor Swift takes on Eponine!

Oh man!

We already know how fantastic Amanda is, but if our T-Swizzle can pull this role off, then WOW!

This could project her into Jennifer Hudson territory!

What do U think?? Are U excited with the new casting developments?!

Fucking YES! Great cast! lea would have been so safe and boring. Lets bring on the breakdowns!!! lol

  2. 2

WORST. IDEA. EVER. This movie just went down the toilet. Sure, they have big names that will draw in lots of people. But Les Mis is a classic. One of the best musicals ever written. Thanks Hollywood, for destroying it.

  3. 3

    um no.
I love this musical but…no to Taylor Swift. Plus there is no way she looks like Helena Bonham Carter and Sasha Baron Cohen's kid.

  4. 4

I think that Amanda Seyfried is beautiful however this is not the most appealing photo of her…

  5. 5

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL poor taylor…the next leann rimes.

  6. 6

has anyone on the casting board ever actually seen/heard anything from taylor swift's body of work? cute girl, but absolutely in NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM vocally qualified to play ANY character that has ever been on broadway, and let's not forget her absolutely terrible performance in "valentine's day".

    as for the rest? excellent.

  7. 7

They are going to absolutely ruin the greatest musical ever written if this is true. At least Lea Michelle has actually been on Broadway, would not have been such a stretch. What are they thinking casting these people. If they want good people all they had to do was go and see who is in Les Mis in the UK's West End at the Queen's Theatre

  8. 8

Taylor. just no. she can't hit the notes. she can't act. she'd need a HELL OF A LOT of auton-tune. this bitch always gets everything handed to her. smh. BAD IDEA.

  9. 9

Taylor Swift? This is gonna be so sad. I was excited to see what they would do with this AMAZING classic. But now with Taylor Swift it's gonna be a joke. Lea Michele was born to play Eponine. Her voice is 100x stronger than Taylor Swift's. Whatever…saves me the money I was gonna spend on the movie ticket.

  10. 10

Using Taylor just to get more money at the box office is just sad. Then again that's Hollywood I suppose. She has no acting talent and now one of the greatest musicals is going to be ruined. Did they seriously even turn on "Valentine's Day" before casting her?

  11. 11

biggest mistake they made was making this a star studded movie, they needed broadway caliber talent and taylor swift can't sing broadway or act for shit, dissappointed Lea should have gotten it

    Re: Petey35Re: Petey35

I agree. Guess I'll have to make do with the movie version that isn't a musical starring Liam Neeson. I love Hugh Jackman, but I. just. can't.

Working with a Les Mis vocal coach could be the best thing to ever happen to Swift. Moving her technique to another echelon would stand her in good stead for the rest of her stage life and perhaps help to save her voice. She would also be contributory catnip for the show's bottom line and bring a whole new demographic of young viewers to consider the classics.

    Lea Michele IS Eponine…PERIOD!

  15. 15

I love Taylor, but she doesn't have the right voice for this. She won't be able to hit the notes and she's not the greatest actress.

  16. 16

NO! NO! NO! NO! WHAT THE HELL?????? Taylor Swift shouldn't go NEAR a Broadway role!!!

  17. 17

are you KIDDING?! i freaking love taylor, but she's going to murder this part. she better not accept it. amanda i'm fine with. I think Amanda would be a great Cosette. But Taylor can hardly sing her three note country songs and she's a terrible actress, as evidence in Valentine's Day.
Again, I love Taylor to death. I know all her songs, and I go to her concerts every time she's in town. But she does not belong in the broadway world, let alone something as incredible as Les Mis.

  18. 18

Sell-outs. All they want are the tweens money.

  19. 19

Wow… Lea should of gotten the part. Well at Hugh Jackman is in then.. a damn shame.

  20. 20

worst idea ever, evn if they autotune her voice she can't act to save her life.
lea michele or evan rachel wood were the best choices.

  21. 21

Another remake? UGH! I am so tired of all the remakes. I don't care that this is going to be a musical, its already been done. Move on. Hit on something we've not seen before. If Hollywood must do remakes, then do something older than 20 or 30 years old.

  22. 22

WORST IDEA EVER MADE! How could they ever think that Taylor Swift (for all that I love her) and Amanda Seyfried could take anything over Lea Michele. There just asking for this film to be a soulless auto-tuned piece of crap, Les Mis is a classic and should be treated that way, with voices that will do it justest.

  23. 23

I'm literally throwing up right now. The entire cast is full of big name actors who can't sing broadway. Are they trying to turn Les Mis into a comedy????? This is an outrage.

  24. 24

at first i was super excited to see one of my favorite musicals ever being adapted into a film, but now after seeing that taylor swift might be casted i'm not even going to bother watching it. amanda seyfried is eh, i think the girl who was in sweeney todd would have been better though.

  25. 25

Dear God really??? really??? gag…Such pandering from producers, no balls. Seyfried maybe but Swift doing "On my Own", what a travesty that will be. Eponine needs to be able to SING…really sing. Titanic in the making. Too bad. I was excited about this until today…

  26. 26

Taylor didn't audition. She was offered the role. That means that the professional directors obviously know something that the haters don't; talent. If they offer her the part as Eponine that means that they think that Taylor has the talent to perfom the role. There is no way in hell they would offer the role to somebody who would make the entire production crumble down.
People need to stop freaking out. She hasn't even said if she will accept the offer or not. If you think she is a shite singer then go to one of her concerts and try to stay bitchy throughout the whole thing because I guarentee you that you will be blown away by how good her vocals are. If you think she's a shite actress then maybe you might want to know that Taylor was told by the director to act up the ditzy personality of her character in Valentine's Day.
The director will work with Taylor to make sure that she is up to standard both acting wise and vocally, he isn't going to say "here" *gives script* "now don't screw it up" *walks away*
She won't have been offered the role because of her fanbase. All the other potential Eponine's have fanbases too.. Duh.
You won't know what the movie will look like until it comes out in December next year, so everyone take a frigging chill pill and calm down.

  27. 27

Taylor Swift as Eponine. I'm waiting for the punchline.

  28. 28

Oh no what a shameeeeeeee. Taylor Swift is going to ruin OUR FRENCH classic.it's pathetic and shame on the director for taking her instead of Lea michele who has talent and an amazing voice. This movie will flop, at least in France cause our teenagers won't go see it just because there is Taylor Swift. I prefer to watch Frenc versions by the way than this one. SHAME SHAME SHAME

  29. 29

No longer want to see this film, it's bad enough having a JoBro on the 25th anniversary DVD…

  30. 30

Comparing Lea Michele and Taylor Swift vocally is not even a competition. Swift's talent lies largely in her songwriting, and Michele could undoubtedly sing circles around Swift. And to those who account Taylor's performance in "Valentine's Day" to the character she was playing up, ditzy characters do not necessarily limit an actor's possible performance. For example, Jennifer Aniston took the role of Rachel in "Friends" beyond the ditzy, spoiled, one-dimensional character that it could have been. Let's face it, if the role of Eponine was to be chosen based on experience and qualifications, Lea Michele deserved it over Swift, hands down. Based on the largest possible fan base to draw to theaters, Swift definitely has a larger constituency. The priorities of these casting directors seems skewed to me. Who knows though, maybe Swift will surprise the doubters. However, comparing the countless videos of Michele and Swift singing (live) that are available online, Michele's vocal and acting abilities seem to easily elevate her above Swift.

  31. 31

lea shouldve take eponine role !!! taylor sucks at actingggg !

  32. 32

amanda should definitely take this role! she has an amazing voice, perfect for broadway :)

  33. 33

guys give taylor a chance, she wouldnt have been asked if if she couldnt sing or act. besides she will most likely be working with a broadway singing coach. stop saying she cant act because shes only had one role that she had to be dizzy in. take a chill pill

  34. 34

Taylor will be terrific in Les Miz. O'm so excited that she got the role. Congratulations, Taylor. You go, girl!

  35. 35

Seriously??????????? I'm sorry but Les Mis is one of the best musicals to ever be on Broadway and the fact that Taylor Swift was offered the part over Lea Michele is ridiculous. Taylor is a country singer and Lea Michele was practically raised on Broadway. Not only that but she was in Les Mis as a child!!!!!!!! Not only the singing but Taylor Swift's acting in Valentines Day should be enough to not let her be in this movie. I was really excited about this movie and if she ends up taking the role of Eponine I won't even go to the theaters. If anything she is going to ruin this movie.
