You go, gurl!

Mollie Thomas will be the first openly gay participant in the Miss California pageant or any other major pageant for that matter!

On Wednesday, January 4th, Mollie will be having a send off party as she begins her journey to become Miss California on Friday January 6th.

For all you Angelinos, visit her Wednesday at The Foundry at 7pm.

For more info, hit up her Facebook page:

It is great to see others take the step to shed stereotypes, increase LGBT awareness, and reach for the stars to pursue their dreams.

Good luck Mollie!

I thought you wanted gays to be treated equally, but again you put the gay person on a pedestal above everyone else, just because they are gay. Where is your story about all the rest of the contestants?

Re: sensfan999 – try reading the headline before you comment in future please. i know people like you are desperate to express your homophobia in any way you can but it doesn't take much effort to read.

Um Perez where have you been? There's another openly gay contestant AND she's wearing a suit instead of an evening gown! Miss Downtown Long Beach Jenelle Hutcherson who also was the first Miss Long Beach contestant to wear a suit in competition. Where's her good luck, article/profile?
