It's official: Hugh Jackman has the Broadway bug once again!

The actor has officially signed up to star in Aaron Sorkin's Houdini, which has music written by Stephen Schwartz and is to be directed by Jack O'Brien during the 2013-2014 season!

The actor explains:

“I have been deeply fascinated by the life of Harry Houdini since I was young, and in many ways I’ve been preparing for this role my whole life. I am thrilled to be collaborating with this collection of artists who are all at the top of their game.”

And Sorkin elaborates:

“Rather than being a biography, Houdini, told in a contemporary tone, tells the story of an epic battle that took place between the world’s greatest illusionist and a trio of women, known as ‘Spiritualists,’ who convinced millions of people, including the editors of Scientific American and The New York Times, that they could communicate with the dead,. The chance to collaborate with Stephen Schwartz, Jack O’Brien and Hugh Jackman on a new Broadway musical is a huge gift.”

Indeed, it is!

Talk about a dream team!

This is going to be absolutely incredible! We cannot wait!

Reserving tickets NOW! How about U??

Great collection of talent, great casting, and great to see something ORIGINAL for a change - and not just the umpteenth musical adaptation of some recent movie musical or comedy.

Butter face, I am thinking. I saw the show in NYC…he was good, but not so amazingly brilliant like so many claim…he is a tad overexposed for my taste…supposedly a good guy and all, but I am tired of his mug…just sayin. Yes, we also know he spends way too much time at the gym to only show off his physique in his next movie….such a tired concept.

love Hugh Jackman. Would be amazing if he could lead a legitimate revival of "Carousel"'.

    also,

BITCH, CUT IT WITH THE FUCKING ADVERTS! I CAN'T EVEN READ, SCROLL, OR COMMENT ON HALF OF THE FUCKING 'ARTICLES'

Re: sanfran1 – Someone who spends too much time at the gym and nothing else, is capable of doing just a lot of push-ups, not sing and dance for two consecutive hours with such skill and talent. Like it or not, Jackman is one of the best actors of his generation, the only one who can keep up with the great actors of Hollywood's golden era. There were people who saw the show up to five times consecutively and did not return for just a fact of 'overexposure' and I'm talking about a very demanding audience, people accustomed to the quality standards of Broadway. The total box office is eloquent: the show, which ran for 10 weeks and routinely sold out the 1,176-seat theater, earned a massive $14,638,428.
