CW Goes Canadian For New TV Series

The CW has inked a new deal to bring Canada's The L.A. Complex to its summer programming.

Sort of like Melrose Place, L.A. Complex features around twenty year olds trying to make it into hollywood.

Except they're Canadian.

This will be CW's second crack at Canadian TV. It tried 18 to Life but pulled the plug after three episodes.

L.A. Complex is also produced by the same company as teen hit, Degrassi.

Which is like 90210. But Canadian. See where this is going.

Then again, Degrassi did give us Wheelchair Jimmy so L.A. Complex has potential.

Check out the video above to see the trailer for L.A. Complex

Psst, Perez. Degrassi TNG is based on the original series which started in 1987…3 years before 90210 came out. Just sayin.

Degrassi is nothing like 90210. The only thing they have in common Shenae Grimes.

The original Degrassi was created before the original 90210. They also have little in common besides being about the lives of teenagers.

you talk about canada like it's a foreign concept to you - have you ever actually been here? and degrassi is nothing like 90210. i don't get why being canadian makes a show any different.

Actually Degrassi Junior High was made in the 80's (kids of Degrassi Street in the late 70's/early 80's). And if you know anything and actually did any research, you'd know that 90210 copied the original Degrassi in many ways.

The reason Degrassi (original) is so superb, is because they don't make it Hollywood with 30 something year old actors pretending to be teenagers, it actually had real tweens/teenagers, with really risque (for the time, and even now) subject matter. It was certainly more raw and realistic and I loved that about the show growing up. It was certainly more relatable.

Nickelodean has a show like that and it's called Big Time Rush.

Don't forget Perez, Degrassi also gave you DRAKE. That's right Aubrey from Toronto was on Degrassi.
