| Filed under: TV NewsSilly!ZportzSaturday Night Live

Losing weight and doing comedy! Charles Barkley is on a roll!

Check out the SNL sketch (above) in which Barkley hosts a new Discovery ID show called White People Problems.

Probably one of the more offensive Saturday Night Live sketches that's been aired in a while…but also a funny one for anybody who can take a joke!

Do U think this SNL sketch was HIGHlarious? Were U offended? A little bit of both???

I'm white and my family and I thought it was hilarious!

  2. 2

If this was "Gay people problems" would U be offended?

  3. 3

I thought it was funny but I'm sure if some other "group" - gay, black, hispanic, asian - were made fun of - then all H-ll would break loose. Let's face it, white people and fat people are the only two groups you can make fun of and get away with it.

  4. 4

I was waiting to laugh and then it ended.

  5. 5

I didn't care one way or the other, I just wish it was funny.

  6. 6

I didn't find it offensive accept them calling it comedy. That whole episode kind of sucked.
If you go to hulu (its free) you can watch the clip there without Mario getting credit.

Seriously if it was about any other race or gay's i don't think people would find it so funny. it probably wouldn't have even been left on air. i actually think its a funny clip! but i am just so sick of the contradiction!! its fine to be racially funny towards white people but do it to another race and its all over the news for being racists and unacceptable… #rantover

  8. 8

yes i am ofended, yes im white and yes i can take a joke however this kind of sketch no longer brings a smile to my face as i am so sick of it becoming only okay to take the piss out of white people. A nursery rhyme named ba ba black sheep is no longer sung in schools and the ludicrousness ba ba blue sheep has taken its place ….can you see where i am going with this?

  9. mw says – reply to this

    9

    that was funny

  10. 10

such a huge double standard when it comes to making negative remarks about whites. If this skit was about blacks then they would be milking the "racism" card for all its worth. But since a black guy was in it poking fun of whites we are supposed to go ha ha. It wasn't funny . I will no longer be watching SNL or any other program that participates in reverse racism. The term reverse racism shouldn't even exist as racism is racism.

Re: boxergal – Ummm, Black people were made fun of, if you didn't notice because you're probably conditioned to stereotypes given to Black people. What about the part about Black people being lazy and not caring about their work ethic? Get over it, both White and Black people were being made fun of. Grrr, so annoyed with White people and their victim mentalities.

  12. 12

    Re: Ohiogirl – ……and Christians.

  13. 13

Perez…pick a side. Either its not OK to make fun or it is. The making fun part should not be dependent upon your race, sex, religous affiliation etc. Once we start "deciding" whats funny based on categories and who not to offend, that is censorship. So sick of all the PC. If its not funny if its directed at another race, sexual preference etc. then why is it OK directed at white people?

  14. 14

Re: Ohiogirl – You said it for me! So much for equal opportunity for all! THIS IS AMERICA still, after all!!!!

  15. 15

    FUNNY!!!!

  16. 16

    It wasn't that funny really…

  17. 17

Re: Lajoliefille – white people and their victim mentalities? You make me laugh. How many stories in the last 3 months has Perez posted about Muslims, gays, or another class of people (not whites) being discriminated against. And white people have the victim mentality. As was stated earlier, if you're a white Christian in this nation you better be ready to bend over and take it as the saying goes. Wait, am I going to offend someone with that?

  18. 18

The entire episode was awful (the only saving grace was vocal powerhouse Kelly Clarkson). So far this year I'd say best episodes: 1) Jimmy Fallon 2) Melissa McCarthy and an honorable mention to Jason Segel. The writing for Charles Barkley was awful, and he was awful as host. Why he was back for a 3rd hosting gig is beyond me when they have no idea how to write for him.

  19. 19

Re: Lajoliefille – I am white and I thought it was funny but I'm wondering if it would have been funny or acceptable if it was a white person making a joke about a black person "being lazy and not caring about their work ethic".

  20. 20

Re: brwneyedgirl – I have to agree "if you're a white Christian in this nation you better be ready to bend over and take it as the saying goes". Seems majority groups are fair target for racism/discrimination etc.

  21. 21

This is the definition of racism. Replace any other race/ethnicity with "white" and the stereotypes that follow and people would be so upset.

  22. 22

I'm white… wasn't offended by anything they said but it just wasn't funny, at all.

  23. 23

    Fabulous!

  24. 24

For everyone saying it's only acceptable to make fun of whites on TV, that IS NOT true. Shows make fun of blacks, Asians, Latinos, gays, fat ppl, etc all the time!!! Watch something else, this one thing making fun of white ppl comes out and all of a sudden its this huge conspiracy about how its only ok to make fun of whites. No one watches Family Guy, they make fun of EVERYONE. That being said, it was only kind of funny. I thought they should have pushed it a little more on the comedy side.

  25. 25

wow i'm surprised to see so many people complaining that white people always get made fun of. uhm no you fucking don't. do any of you watch south park, family guy, american dad, the boondocks, etc. there are plenty of shows that make fun of EVERYONE. i thought they were kinda making fun of black people too by having them say oh i wasn't listening or idk man i went on break. but oh no poor white people can't take a joke boo hoo stfu. man the fuck up and learn how to take a joke because other races had to put up with DECADES of abuse at the hands of whites and some people in this day & age probably still have to put up with racism.

  26. 26

It is only not offensive because the stereotypes were positive of white people -
the first couple had a mature friendship, the next showed a woman concerned about her children's health and the last showed a couple with wealth and generosity to their friends.
I am white and wasn't offended bc the stereotypes were flattering.

  27. 27

Re: Perez Generation – You did also get the joke about black people always taking breaks at work right. It was funny. Stop taking yourself so seriously.

  28. 28

well this is awkward… I thought it was hilarious, the whole episode was! I can't wait for Sir Charles to host his 4th episode!

  29. 29

I'm white and I don't think it was bad. I think they could have done better actually. Thats extreme stereotyping - most people realize only old right wing republicans act like that. But, it is what it is. The things I could do with "black people problems" would blow this out of the water and man I could do all sorts of things with "latino people problems". I think they could have made this much better but it was alright I guess.

  30. 30

Re: thebigboot – We should do gay people problems. And cuban people problems: "Man, I my wallet must have dropped out of the raft on the way over here amigo…damn! Castro gets more of my money!"

  31. 31

Re: Lajoliefille – Grrr so sick of black people and their victim mentalities.

  32. 32

Re: shaishai – YOU MAN THE FUCK UP. Stop milking your fucking black card.

  33. 33

    Re: Mimi the Magnificent
I think she was pointing out that as a White American being made fun of is the worst thing your people ever had to deal with. for example, Jewish people get made fun of constantly in the media, they don't complain about it all the time and their people were used ,abused and even went through a genocide, White Americans really need to grow some balls, your the only group of people that can't take a joke.

  34. 34

Re: brwneyedgirl – white people and their victim mentalities? You make me laugh. Oh boy, here go again. Look, turn on your television. Pop in a Hollywood movie. As far as I know, minorities aren't the ones being portrayed as living the posh or rich lifestyles in the media, wanna know why? Because the majority of minorities are the ones with the wealth and that's just the fact. Honestly, if you're complaining because of that, in a way you're perpetuating what that skit was already satirizing. Poor white people, they're being shown dealing with First world issues! Let's call the UN to see what we can do about this. Seriously, get over it. Welcome to the world where there is a white superiority complex.

  35. 35

    Re: Mimi the Magnificent
    Fail. Not Black.

  36. 36

Re: yagmai – Wake-up call! The skit was written by white writers. Indirectly, white people pointed out that blacks have "horrible work ethics."

  37. 37

Well I am always asleep when this is on and will not watch then long of a video so guess I will go by the Cooments. By the way please stop wwith the extra clcick.

  38. 38

    Re: shaishaiRe: Lajoliefille
So true! I'm white and I was not offended at all. But being from a small town in CT, I can attest to the racism I see by many of my family members and neighbors towards any other person who is non white and non Christian/Catholic. Its disgusting and annoying! I've seen the boondocks and omg they are awful when it comes to making fun of their own race! So there are shows out there that make fun of all races and sometimes its funny, Americans are so fucking uptight and can't take a joke get over yourselves! Listening to one of my best friends who happens to be an African American I can say that I've never had to deal with the many things she has dealt with as an African American in this country and it sickens me that in fucking 2012 we still have race issues in this so called great country! But that's okay for those who have hate in their hearts just because someone is a different race, there's a special place in hell for you.

  39. 39

Wah Wah Wah…racism…whatever. Ugh, so glad I didn't stay up to watch that episode. FAIL

  40. 40

Re: Lajoliefille – Fuck off. Black people play the victim..at all times. They live and breathe just to be able to pull out that race card.

  41. 41

Re: mochaddict – I will not "fuck off." Perhaps, black people do pull the race card but that still won't erase the actual racism they experience. I've traveled enough in the world to know. Now get me a latte.

  42. 42

Ignorant. I am white and have never had any of these problems. 1. I have never flown in a plane because I cant afford it. 2. I don't give a shit how a chicken was raised because I am not the one killing it or eating it. 3. I don't have a "summer house" because like a plane ticket, I cant afford it. This should have been called RICH PEOPLE PROBLEMS, no matter what color they are.

  43. 43

    And we care?
