| Filed under: Music MinuteJessie James Decker

She's back!

Jessie James' new single, When You Say My Name, has just dropped, and it is the PERFECT blend of the country-pop hybrid we've come to love so much about her music!

Give it a listen (above)!

So much soul in that voice!

You've never sounded better, gurl!

Can't wait to hear what else you've been working on!

She just sounds like Leann Rimes. Nothing original here. She looked like Shania Twain in her first video. That girl isn't a real blonde.

Ummm no, this song is average at best and I can't believe you used the term soul in your description.

To Whom It May Concern at Jessie's record label:

You truly have a talent on your hands. She is a great song writer and amazing vocalist. However, this song as a first single choice is crap. Will it get many ads on country radio? No. Why not? Because you are competing with the likes of Miranda, Kellie Pickler, Carrie Underwood and so many more that already have established star power behind them. If Jessie was an established artist, releasing a mediocre song like this would be okay. However, she is not yet, and should be releasing a strong single with a memorable hook (this song has ZERO memorable hook) that showcases her vocal ability. I feel bad for Jessie because she deserves a fair chance, and this song unfortunately will not give her one unless you all are really tight friends with the directors of corporate programming at Clear Channel, Cumulus, and the like and can get them to do you a favor and add it to rotation. (But even then, it isn't strong enough to last long) I am only commenting because I feel so strongly that Jessie deserves a fair chance (her demo stuff is way better than this!) and I urge you to reconsider the single choice. You've already got a good bit invested and could do great things with this artist, please take this into consideration.

Jessie is one of the most underrated artists out there. She has a phenomenal voice, is a talent songwriter, and a great live performer. Unfortunately, the industry has screwed her over time and time again. Say My Name is cute and catchy, but I can't see it being her breakthrough on country radio. A lot of her demo material floating around on the net is amazing. I'm not sure why that never sees the light of day with an official release. This song is nice, but forgettable, and like the other poster said, won't stand up against the likes of Carrie, Taylor and Miranda. I would love to see Jessie go the country/adult contemporary route with a little pop twist (like Faith Hill's "Breath" or Shania's "You're Still the One"). It's all going to come down to finding (and actually releasing) the right song for her because she is truly the whole package. However, I hope this is a moderate success and nice little introduction to pave the way for Jessie.
