There's no way we could be this lucky... right?!
According to TMZ, the two legendary singers apparently spoke about how much sense it'd make for them to work together at some point, and as it's being reported now,

If the fellas can round out the funds; they are funding the project themselves.
You might have noticed by now, but in case not, 3D movies are all the rage. Action flicks, animated movies - hell, we're pretty sure the entertained the thought of making Breaking Dawn in 3D for the hottest second until they realized there is no reason to see Kristen Stewart that close. Now Taylor Lautner on the other hand…(we kid, we kid!)
Anyway, what really has done well at the box office is 3D concert movies, though to be fair, the genre of music that makes the most $$$ is usually for a younger audience. Still Metallica is thinking of taking a stab at filming their own 3D concert movie and they are hoping to get it our by the summer of 2013.
The band is currently writing their follow-up album to 2008's Death Magnetic, so we imagine this 3D concert film will coincide with the release of that. As to why the band feels the need to pay for the flick themselves. Lars Ulrich said it best, explaining:
"We tend to pay for these things ourselves. The minute you take somebody else's money, you have to consider their opinions. And that's no fun."
Creative control doesn't come cheap!
We say focus on the music first. We think your fans are more interested in that than a 3D movie. Course, depending on the venue in which you film it in, we could see the fans coming out in droves to see it LIVE!
