The Pope Says Gay Marriage Will "Undermine The Future Of Humanity!"

| Filed under: Gay Gay GayPolitikBarack Obama

pope-fears-gay-marriage-will-destroy-future-web.jpg

We're beginning to think Pope Benedict isn't a fan of gay marriage.

The Pope addressed diplomats of over 180 countries Monday January 10th on social and economic issues, many of which focused on children (who knew?)

The new surge against marriage equality comes as European countries such as Spain and the Netherlands have legalized gay marriage. This cannot happen in the Pope's backyard!

Regarding homosexuality, the Catholic church teaches that homosexual TENDENCIES are not sinful but homosexual ACTS are. We don't really know where to start about how contradictary that sounds.

In the States, gay marriage continues to cause some ruckus. When New York State passed gay marriage, NY Archbishop Timothy Dolan wrote a letter to President Obama critcizing his lack of instituting a federal ban on gay marriage.

He stated that such a policy "precipitate a national conflict between church and state of enormous proportions."

Last time we checked the Constitution, those two things aren't even SUPPOSED to coexist…

At all!!!

But don't fret; for all his hard work, Dolan is getting promoted to cardinal!

Plus, the Catholic church is willing to accept those willing to leave their Protestant Christianity for Roman Catholic if they think their denomination is getting too gay.

Some denominations have allowed gay marriage, women priests, gay clergy and gay bishops so many are leaving for the Catholic church.

Anglicans have especially been antsy, stating their church is getting too liberal. Benedict has decreed that any Anglican converting to Catholicism can be allowed to keep some of their traditions.

How accepting of you!

HA!

Give me a fuckin' break!!! I am very supportive of gay rights and always have been but this is the POPE we are talking about!! No one is saying that religion is right or current or fair! But each individual has the right to their own beliefs and the head of the Roman Catholic Church is obviously not going to support gay marriage!!!! How is you telling the Pope, or any other religious person their viewpoints are wrong any less hypocritical than a religious person saying your way of life is wrong?

  2. 2

Well it sure as hell aint gonna help humanity! Selfish pricks who put their own desires ahead of a childs need to have both a mother and a father demonstrate from the outset they dont deserve a baby. Cue all arguments about abusive hetro couples etc yaaawwwwwn

To any catholic experiencing guilt or shame over being gay and feeling as though there is something wrong with them - please do not let it define you. There is nothing wrong with you and there is nothing wrong with being with another human being of consenting age regardless of their sex. The Pope is entitled to his opinion. I'm entitled to mine. And every time a person, no matter who they are, says something negative about being gay or gay people - I will be there to counter respond. Enough with this mental abuse on others.

Re: Truth_Is_A-Virus – I've read your posts and it's clear you are not equipped to judge who has children and who doesn't. You are seemingly full of inner turmoil that you blame on others as you can't face that you are the only solution to your problem. I would rather see a gay couple share their love and family with a child then a spitefull ,hate filled judgemental person like yourself who would share your bigotry with an innocent child

This is interesting to note as many of the priests in the Catholic Church are gay. Also of interest is the fact that, in a world where over population is at a crisis level and we are using up many of the resources on the planet, a lessening of the birth rate is a welcome thing. Gays will not outnumber heteros but definitely are an equal part of our population and doing their bit for population control.

" Gay marriage will undermine the future of humanity" -The Pope
"Gay marriage is perfectly fine and everyone should agree with me." - Perez
"Everyone who doesn't agree with me is wrong." - Perez
"Christians are wrong and should be made fun of." - Perez
"The Mormons should be punished." - Perez
"I am right and everyone else can suck it." -Perez

Everyone does have a right to their opinion, but they should not have the right to impose their beliefs on others through legislation. If your religion denies marriage rights to gays, fine, but you should not use your religious beliefs to deny marriage to people outside of your religion. Keep your religious beliefs within the confines of your own church and keep government secular.

The Catholic Church and the secret pedophile club has already done that. Wouldn't you think? Religious people are so the worst offenders of all.

  9. 9

Pedophiles are sick. Gays are good people. The Catholic Church is full of pedophiles, so why anyone takes anything they say seriously is beyond my comprehension. The religious fanatics in this country are what is bringing down this country. They have their heads so far up their butts it's ridiculous. Biggest biggots and two-faced group of people I've ever met. Nothing about them says they think God loves everyone. Hypocrites.

Re: Mergers – 'many' of the priests are gay? Since when is that a fact? Besides, it clearly states he believes tendencies are fine, acting upon them is sinful. So, in his view, for a priest to be gay is also fine, seeing as he has sworn to celibacy.

  11. 11

Re: michihunt – Not suprised that everthing is so black and white to you - must be fun to have such a limited view

  12. 12

Give me a break! You want people to accept your freedom of choice but you are completely intollerant of people's freedom of belief/religion. Why do you even care what the Pope thinks? Are you a practising Catholic? Beyond that - it isn't the church that makes the laws, it is the government. I highly doubt the Pope is the only religious leader that is against gay marriage yet you have no qualms about putting him and his religious beliefs down…but again, he is supposed to care about what you think is fair?
Talk to the government - not the pope.
I'm really sick of hearing you complain about gay marriage. I am completely impartial to gay marriage and I am Catholic. Could care less either way to be honest with you as it does not effect me - what bothers me is that you make such a stink about gay marriage..what about abolishing things like arranged marriages where if the woman decides she does not love that person or wants to leave she just can't, and if she does she will be killed.
There are more important things in the world right now in my opinion.

  13. 13

And id ask the pope how many gays does god have to create!!

  14. 14

Last time we checked the Constitution, those two things aren't even SUPPOSED to coexist…

Since when, in the US of A, is church and state separated ?
    "In God we trust"
    remember that ?
The USA is so close to being a theocracy.

    Re: rosebud99 – PREACH!!!

  16. 16

Yes, I think heteros have destroyed humanity with greed, abuse, violence, war and sexism to name JUST a few. The catholic church is one of the MOST currupt organizations there is!! Taking peoples money, protecting pedophiles and protecting Nazis after WWII….and they make a statement about GAYS???????/ Wow, what an inbred ignorance there is with that thinking….Someone has to always hate, sad.

  17. 17

Re: SpiceGuy – Most sensible comment I've read.

  18. 18

anti-christ? he is the perfect example. over population is major part of what is wrong with this world, can't feed them don't have them! why does he have such an attitude against birth control? if the planet is to survive, birth control must be implemented and ppl should not be ashamed of practicing it. it is for the good of all of US! but his pedo buddies won't reproduce right? so i guess it is a non issue for the church

  19. 19

seriously perez, do you honestly think your little rants will change the course of a religion that has had the same beliefs for the past 2000 years? you're entitled to your own opinion and the church is entitled to theirs, there would be uproar if the pope one day agreed to gay marriage, it must be a gradual thing, it may be difficult to accept right now, but religion will not change over night.

  20. 20

He looks like something out of "Weekend at Bernie's"

  21. 21

If you want to be a Christian, be a Protestant. Episcopal (Anglican), Presbyterian or Lutheran are probably the best. Or just do your own thing. The Catholic Church is absolutely ridiculous and absurd and clownish, and has been for centuries. Forget gay marriage, what is even more vomit inducing is their Mary worship (Marian Cults), Saint worship and REQUIRED confessions to a priest. You got to be fucking kidding. Martin Luther saw through all that bullshit a long time ago and started up the Protestant Reformation. The Catholic Church is disgusting, and so is the Pope, what they call "God's Vicar on Earth" . Get over yourself, Santa Claus. Go stroke all your virgin mary statues. Disgusting.

  22. 22

oh please people you need to understand this is the Pope. People have a right to their own beliefs and the head of the Roman Catholic Church is obviously not going to support gay marriage. he is preaching to his religious group. i am a Catholic with a gay brother. Does not mean i have to agree with the Pope but i will respect him. This country is getting so rediculas about Gay Rights. Yes you have a right to be gay and happy in whatever religion you may choose but DO NOT SHOVE

  23. 23

I consider myself a Catholic and I support gay rights fully…always have. It kills me to see that there is such a battle between church and state and wish that the church would just accept it already. Enough with the Bible battles, pointing fingers, and constant just lack of respect for humanity. Everyone has a right to their own opinion and everyone should have the right to love who they want. God's main message is LOVE. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't deny love to the people he created.

  25. 25

No wonder the Catholic church's are closing along with the schools. It's God's choice to make people what they are.

    Amen

  26. ritaj says – reply to this

    26

I'm Catholic and there aren't any Catholic churches or schools closing anywhere close to where I live, and as a matter of fact, the Church is growing in my area.

Some of you people posting comments on here really need to do some research about the Church because you are posting false statements as facts. You should really be more tolerant and accepting if you are going to ask others to be tolerant and accepting. Some of you have really shown how hypocritical you are.

  27. 27

How can the NY Archbishop want a FEDERAL ban on gay marriage? Bastard must not know that marriage is a STATE issue. If there isn't federal legislation to make it legal nationwide, what makes him think it can be banned nationwide? I swear these conservative hoes need to learn about separation of church and state.

  28. 28

Re: Genghis Khan – You do realise that 'the catholic church' differs from country to country, right? I've never had to deal with the required confessions you're talking about, although I have a friend in Italy who, voluntarily, goes to confession from time to time, just to get things off his chest. What's so horrid about that? And as others have already said, this is the freakin' Pope. How is this statement shocking or surprising or even new?

  29. 29

Many of you are generalizing that all Catholics are this or that. Okay, well, you haven't met all of them. I am a Roman Catholic. I believe that homosexuality is great. Let love be spread. If gays want to marry, let them do that. I have no problem w/ it. For those who assume that Catholics hate gays. Lol, no. Please, shut it. Stop stereotyping people because they are in a certain faith. It only makes you hypocritical.

  30. 30

Homosexuality has been around a lot longer than Catholicism…its sad that some people cant see past what they've been brainwashed with for centuries…
