Will Scotland Finally Gain Independence From The UK???

scotland may become independent

We can't believe this is actually happening!

Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond has announced that Scottish voters will get the chance to vote on whether or not they want independence from the UK in 2014.

Salmond chose '14 because he wants the vote to take place "just after the 700th anniversary of a renowned Scottish victory over the English at Bannockburn."

UK Prime Minister David Cameron isn't so pleased with Salmond's decision to delay the vote until 2014. He's agreed to help Scotland organize a vote, but he wants it to take place soon, and he wants a straightforward "yes or no" vote.

Sounds to us like the UK is ready to make a clean break with Scotland! We'll keep an ear out to see if the Scottish first minister pushes up the vote date.

What do U think? Will Scotland become independent from the UK by 2014???

But if Scotland breaks from England (yeh yeh yeh and wales etc) who will they be able to bore with all their Braveheart shit? Coz the rest of the world sure doesnt give a crap.

If they want independence then go for it - but stop expecting our money for prescriptions and education. Good luck!

And this is celebrity news how?

Totally agree with Raye_UK. Lets see how long Scottish undergraduates have £0 tuition fees for after they 'break free.' -

Um do you English know nothing? We are the ones supporting you. Right now the UK is the 6th richest country in the world; if Scotland goes independant Scotland will become 6th richest and the Uk will drop down to 16th. David Cameron wants the vote as soon as possible because he is hoping people will say No, as he is scared of us taking all of our oil money away from him and his stupid government. David Cameron couldn't run a bake sale never mind a country.

    Hope not!

Hope we become independant. Seems English people are completely deluded about the economy. Scotland brings in more money than it spends and will be able to pay off its share of the dept faster than the rest of the UK if we get independance. We do not sponge off the rest of the UK in any way. Cameron is panicing that he is going to lose Scotland,I hope he does and we become free from Tory rein.

Don't be so ridiculous, Scotland does not want to break from the rest of the UK, this is all the work of the madman that is Alex Salmond who has ridiculous ideas of Scotland (I mean the man is still obsessing over the Battle of Bannockburn which happened in 1314 for goodness sake!!). The sooner this vote is over with the better and then we can all continue to work together in unity just like we have done all of these years.

hahahahahaha FUNNIEST THING IVE READ ALL DAY –> "Um do you English know nothing? We are the ones supporting you. Right now the UK is the 6th richest country in the world" You haggises wont even have the pound to support you with independence, good luck coping with the shitty euro! lol!!!!!!!

OMG how fecking ignorant are you morons??? Cause last time i checked we drank Scottish bottled wate,r enjoyed Scottish salmon and erm where does most of our gas come from? oh yeah thats right the NORTH Sea and for you twats out there its north of Scotland. We have viable independant income, pay for our own education system and generate a substantial income from Tourism! Hail 2014 when we're independant

A comment to the Scots here, you due realise that the oil is technically in English Waters and England owns 40% of the oil generated. And you would not keep the pound, you would have to take on the euro (which isn't doing so well at the moment).

Scotland should be independent. Hope it happens!

I'm not sure the English people leaving comments here truely understand what they're writing. As the Scots see it, they're are only pros to independance. Relationships between English and Scottish have been deteriorating for years (thanks, Thatcher.) and everyone would prefer a clean divorce to a bickering break-up.

I'm Scottish and I really don't want an independent Scotland. I don't want to have to cross the border with a passport to go on a tip to london or have to apply for a work visa if I get a job in the south! Don't get me wrong I love Scotland but I don't hate English people and I don't understand the animosity that seems to continue between everyone. :(

i dont think that the queen will approve that

Scotland can take a vote when it's good ready to. They want to examine it properly, like a good Scot would. Cameron doesn't want them to have prep time? I wonder why, lol.
Imagine being out from under England's spending and 'financial' bunch. Scotland might even balance their budget and have some left over.

Re: Katie91 – I'm English and I feel the same. There should definitely be separate English, Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish Parliaments but I don't particularly think we should all be separate countries. Also would Scotland have to join the Euro if it went it alone?
