This is every exciting! We know this is gonna be a good one for young audiences, something that could spawn a new generation of theater lovers.
Of course, it will be nothing without Whitney Houston as the Fairy Godmother! LOL!
The very first Broadway-bound production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella is aimed for the 2012-13 season and the production has just announced a director to get them off the ground. Mark Brokaw, who has directed everything from A Little Night Music for the Kennedy Center to the play How I Learned to Drive (which he won a Lucille Lortel Award for), is the man for the job.
According to the press release, there will be something special in-store for long time lovers of Rodgers & Hammerstein. In addition to musical numbers from the original score — including "In My Own Little Corner," "Impossible/It's Possible," "Ten Minutes Ago" and "Do I Love You Because You're Beautiful?", this new production will include several songs from the Rodgers & Hammerstein trunk.
Oooh! Like what, like what!
We never thought anyone could top Julie Andrews. Then Lesley Ann Warren came along. Then Brandy. Each of them gave the role something really different but really beautiful. Who will be the next princess, we wonder!
