As we reported earlier, Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid are on the hunt for two hosts to fill the void left now by former host Steve Jones. There are lots of rumors floating around, but here is something that L.A. can confirm: two girls are a MUST for the job! As Reid told sources:

“We will likely have two girls. That, you can probably count on.”

But don't get too excited. Things mind change beyond next season, as they're looking for a co-ed team to tackle hosting duties later on!!

Here's what Simon said:

“I always wanted a boy and a girl to host the show and I think that’s definitely going to happen now. I think it’s going to make it more interesting.”

All of this news has us SUPER excited for next season!

With Brit's experience in the industry, and say Janet Jackson's wisdom -- we can't think of a better fit.

And at this point we'd be totally let down if it didn't happen! Ha!
