RuPaul Loves The Word 'Tranny'

RuPaul apologize

Uh oh! Some members of the LGBT community may not be too enthusiastic to watch the new season of RuPaul's Drag Race after this!

Openly gay celebs like Neil Patrick Harris and Lance Bass have apologized for using the term "tranny" in the past, but you'll never hear the most famous drag queen of them all apologizing for dropping the T-bomb!

During an interview to promote his Logo reality show, RuPaul responded to some current controversies within the gay community. While addressing the former N'SYNC singer's apology for using the derogatory term as a guest host on Access Hollywood, the drag queen said:

"It's ridiculous! It's ridiculous!… I love the word "tranny"…And I hate the fact that he's apologized. I wish he would have said, 'F-you, you tranny jerk!'"

When asked for his opinion on the ABC sitcom Work It, which has been criticized for mocking transgender women, RuPaul shared:

"Don't take life so seriously… We live in a culture where everyone is offended by everything."

That is true, however, it's hard not to take offense when mainstream society treats you like an outcast, or in the case of Work It, a joke. We can see where both opinions come from.

Do U think RuPaul has a point or should he be the next celeb apologizing for casually using the offesnive word?

    Team RuPaul.

  2. 2

I totally agree with Ru. Lighten up people or you'll be waisting your life on silly things

  3. 3

Go Ru Go! I love my Transgendered friends, but I have in the past used the Term Tranny to describe many people that are in the middle of Transitioning. And I use it for those who do drag and get breast implants, as I have never considered them to be Drag Queens or Female Impersonators.

  4. 4

Didn't Kelly Osborne have to apologize for this as well I can think of so many more things she should apologize for. I wish there was a politically correct list so we wouldn't make these mistakes.

  5. 5

I think it is redic how tranny is taken as offensive. I dont see why? Where were these haters when Cristian Siriano was on Project Runway and every other word out of his mouth was "tranny".

  6. 6

how is the tv show a insulting? its a joke…omg. i am so tired of this god damn political correct BS. wanna be treated like everyone else…act like everyone else. god damn over sensitive people…

  7. 7

Where is our personal responsibility to not get so offended? In my opinion, there are too many demands for apologies. Suck it up and work through it in our own damn minds and get over it already! This freaking society is too sensitive and gets offended at any little imagined offense.

  8. 8

The overly-sensitive, sympathy-seeking members of the gay community can go fuck themselves. RuPaul is 100% correct, the public is sick of whining little bitches like Hilton and his non-stop crusade to label everything as homophobic and offensive.

  9. 9

I love the word tranny, and I especially love it when he says it with "fuck you" in front of it, too.

  10. 10

He's so right! We most definitely do live in a time where it seems like everyone is offended by every little thing, and personally I feel it's pretty damn ridiculous. People have grown to feel comfortable in being way too sensitive, and it is fucking disgusting.

  11. 11

Re: notorious420 – i agree entirely with you, but what is your reaction to ni@@er? offended i'll bet. if you are gonna preach it,,, live it.

  12. 12

RuPaul is an icon and if he calls you a tranny it's probably a compliment.

  13. 13

Re: Comments off C off – fuck pc,, i'm politically incorrect and proud.

  14. 14

    x

  15. 15

I don't know why tranny is considered a no-no word when trannies themselves use that word, especially drag queens or those in the entertainment business. So I guess it is PC to call RuPaul or the people on her show trannies but it is not okay to call Chaz Bono a tranny.

  16. 16

How does he feel about the word f.a.g?

  17. 17

Re: raypearson – Yeah, I was being sarcastic. Say whatever, as long as I have the ability to walk away or change the channel.

  18. 18

There are words that I hate to hear I don't want to even type but to say others can't say them is ridiculous.

  19. 19

Work It didnt get cancelled b/c they made fun of Tranny's it got cancelled b/c it was just a BAD program! I've seen better drags and actors they could have chosen a better cast

  20. 20

I'm with RuPaul. I hear the word "tranny" used more among trannies than I do anyone else.
On a sidenote, RuPaul also sided with Shirley Q Liquor (a black character portrayed by a white gay man) when everyone was protesting SQL's shows and calling her racist.

  21. 21

yes the politically correct thing has gone overboard..

  22. 22

Well, one does have to consider the source. Coming from an uber tranny, "tranny" isn't going to sound all that offensive. lol. And aren't most words offensive dependent upon tone and intent anyway? I mean, someone can potentially call another person, "My little pork pie of lard" and it be endearing. While the next person, well, just couldn't get away with it. I think its less about the words and more about when a person knows he or she is being insulted (or trying actively or passive-aggressively to insult someone else).

  23. 23

Rupaul is awesome and for you Perez to go against him shows how little you value the gay community. You claim to love being gay yet you argue with the most famous tranny. RuPaul made people feel less uncomfortable to the point of accepting trannies. There are plenty to transgendered people that like the word, just as there are those that hate it and to criticize them shows your lack of respect for others opinions. Not everyone is an uptight asshole. Maybe you need more sex to unclog your constipation

  24. 24

Re: raypearson – That's different. Tranny is just a shortened way to say Transvestite. WTF is the big deal. They ARE Transvestites aren't they?? I QUIT READING THIS FKN SITE. I CAN'T STAND THESE STUPID UP IN A HUFF FOR NOTHING ARTICLES. WHO GIVES A FUCK!!

  25. 25

"or in the case of Work It, a joke." WELL OF COURSE. It would be hard to take a man dressed up as a woman seriously. Just like if I saw a girl wearing all pink driving a pink car. Being an LGBT once again, should not make you exempt from the ridicule you will receive from dressing like a nutcase.

  26. 26

Tranny is just an abbreviated word for transvestite. Anyone that gets offended by the use of the word tranny is an idiot. Thats all that needs to be said.

  27. 1finn says – reply to this

    27

As a gay man I don't like being called Gurl, girl, queen or any of those things that perez calls people and seems to think is OK. If RuPaul says it is OK I tend to believe him and perez is just trying to stir up trouble.

  28. 28

Re: 1finn – Never underestimate the hypocrisy of piggy hilton

  29. 29

Wow, completely different thing and YOU should know the difference. Ru Paul is a drag queen and is not transgender. Of course he is not offended by that word because he isn't a transgender person.

  30. 30

LOLZ U ARE SO WRONG FOR THAT PIC OF RUPAUL!!!!!! But I LOVE THAT TRANNY !!!!

  31. 31

Re: light2you – Not unless "tranny" can and/or does include transvestites. Then, as a drag queen, he would fall under the auspices of transvestite and therefore be a tranny. "Tranny" isn't always used only to mean a transgendered or transsexual individual.

  32. 32

Like ANYthing it all boils down to INTENT when a word is spoken or pulled put of context. Ei Paul is so right.

  33. 33

Re: Adorable Kevy – I couldn't agree with you more. I find it very silly when we change words so that they are politically correct when IMO, it's the way we say the words that makes them either acceptable or nasty. I've heard so many people use politically correct phrases in not so politically correct ways.

  34. 34

    wow

  35. 35

Yeah, I'm with RuPaul on this one, I don't understand what's so offensive about the word tranny. I've heard the word my whole life and just recently, suddenly it seems like the worst thing to say and I don't know where it came from. I think there's a place for political correctness, but I think some people have just taken it way too far.

  36. 36

I don't see the correlation to being cast as an "outcast". Let's see, men dress as women to get jobs that are hiring women. Hmmmmm, I don't hear anything about dressing as trannies, to get jobs hiring trannies. And as far as the word tranny goes, sticks and stones people, sticks and stones. I said it several years back, and I'll say it again…..it is going to get so that people can't say ANYTHING without offending someone. Brava Ru!!!

  37. 37

FINALLY someone with common sense!!!!! True words!!!!

  38. 38

I love using the word and most trannys don't even care and they still use it too. I didn't even know I couldn't use it until I saw it on Perez.

  39. 39

Tranny is for transvestites and not transgender transex people!
It is not offensive you can be gay, straight, bi, male or female and like to dress like the other gender and be a tranny and proud of it.
It was our word before it was theirs. Transgenders need to stop being so touchy and stealing everyone else's fun

  40. 40

Definition of being politically correct: trying to pick up a turd by the clean end.

  41. 41

    Re: raypearson
Well said. I'd like to see the answer!

  42. 42

So, is Ru ONLY referring to drag performers and crossdressers? Fine. Work it, own it, old man. If I, a transsexual woman, is on his list of trannies, I'll have to assume his bra is cutting off circulation upwards.

  43. 43

Re: Comments off C off – Kelly O was referring to the transsexual woman her two timing bf was dating. Him/her, it, and chick with a dick were uttered by her. Not cool.

  44. 44

RuRu Is THE drag Queen. He was the first person to step out fully and proudly to show exactly how *Fierce* and *Beautiful* those in the sub-culture can be, and thus, he brought a large degree of awareness and acceptability to wider society. Bitches can scream about using politically correct language all they want to NOW … before RuPaul, they were relegated into the darkest closet, and no one would have heard them at all. Change society, Boo … continue to give credence to being exactly who you are!
