ABC Sitcom Work It Gets Laid Off After Two Episodes

Work it fired

Well, that didn't last long.

After just two terrible episodes (according to the critics and just about everybody watching), ABC's Work It has been cancelled.

The show, which featured two men dressing up as women so they could find work, premiered to dismal ratings and immediately sparked LGBT advocacy organizations to campaign against it.

Herndon Graddick, Senior Director of Programs and Communications at GLAAD, called the offensive show "outdated" as he explained:

“While many of ABC’s positive and groundbreaking portrayals of LGBT people have been critical and popular successes, the public had little interest in this outdated show. As a result of this campaign, an important dialogue has been started in Hollywood and mainstream media about the real discrimination faced by transgender people today.”

Reruns of Tim Allen's Last Man Standing will replace the cancelled show's 8:30 p.m. time slot on Tuesdays for the rest of January until new episodes of Cougar Town fill in.

Are U happy Work It got the axe or would U have liked the show to continue?

  2. 2

How many posts need be done on a crappy cancelled pilot

  3. 3

Good, it's a rehash of Bosom Buddies, only offensive and awful.

  4. 4

This looks so generic and stupid. Tim Allen is trash.

i don't understand how a major American corporation, so dependent on popular culture, can be so off base putting this show on national TV…just a stupid mistake and speaks very poorly of the management at ABC…I can't imagine Dan B would have ever let this happen.

  6. 6

Bummer…I thought Work It was hilarious!

  7. 7

next to be cancelled are you there chelsea? that was awful too.

  8. 8

Hollywood needs some new blood. It's all crap or remakes.

  9. 9

    they should just re-write it
it had a potential to be funny just re-write it
because anyone would know these are really men dressed as women

I found some parts to be quite funny. This program is not related to the transgendered community.

Looks like you're showing reruns too. Luckily, GLAAD was still in the closet when Bosom Buddies aired. Too bad they couldn't have stayed there, instead of campaigning against anything they see as even slightly offensive.

I liked it the first time I saw it when it was called "Bosom Buddies." Exept BB was actually funny…

  13. 13

you tool, trannys ARE NOT transgenders. quit trying to make an issue where none exists. it was cancelled because it was a horrible remake of bosom buddies and and the old MM FILM. GETTING AWFULLY REPETITIVE

  14. 14

It's really annoying me that the group that got offended by this was GLAAD…simply because I watched the first episode online (mainly to see how bad it was) and while it makes no comments about actual transgender people, it made plenty about women. It was horribly sexist and offensive with how the women characters were written.

besides this would never work… now if they dressed hispanic they'd be a shoe in for any job here

  16. 16

I didn't know when it was on but I saw it on HULU and it was okay.

  17. 17

you need to start coordinating with your team about what gets posted… too many repeats!!!!!

  18. 18

it was much better when it was called "bosom buddies" and tom hanks was in it.

  19. 19

that show was insulting to ALL men and women

  20. 20

    is cross dressing transgender?

I would off like the show to continue. It was funny and it had potential. I don't understand how sitcoms never get a chance. I guess is all about reality tv now. sigh
