Quote Of The Day

sophia-bush-to-fox-news-web.jpg

"I will not vote for a candidate who thinks you can ‘pray away the gay,’ I will not vote for a candidate who thinks that he has more rights to my uterus than I do, I will not vote for a candidate who thinks that it’s okay to dump toxic waste in the ocean. I’m afraid for our country that people like this (current Republican candidates) could even be thought of as the president. I live in a country where I believe all men are created equal, not just wealthy white guys. I believe all men, all women, regardless of race, gender, socioeconomic background, you deserve the same rights. If that’s not where our country is going, then I’ll leave. I don’t need to live here. I’m out! I’ll go to Canada, peace! See you later."

Sophia Bush to Fox News about voting in the 2012 election.

    Amen. Love her!

  2. 2

Right on Sophia! I'm Canadian and I love my country but make no mistake, the grass isnt always greener. Sure, we have universal healthcare here, but it'll cost you 40% of your wages AND you'll likely die waiting for treatment as the wait times for most services are insane.Judicial system? A joke. At least in the US life in prison means life in prison. Here, you can kill in cold blood and be out in 8 years with a Masters degree paid for by the taxpayers. Oh and 1/3 of our country cant decide if they actually even want to be Canadians.

  3. 3

GOOD RIDDANCE! Get this bitch out of our country. What a fucking loon. "Rights to my womb" fucking rofl. We don't need morons in this country that think it's a constitutional right to suck babies brains out with a vacuum and fork.

  4. 4

I guess u will be moving to Canada - Obama is just the same! What has he done for gay rights? Nothing - and the Dems never will - Dems say they are for it but like to send their tax dollars and then some too much by making them have to file their taxes as single…… wake up kool aid girl!

  5. 5

Re: Gay Republican – I'm with you.

  6. 6

Please do leave! Just to be sure… you are going to cut all ties? Correct? That means no more jobs in American film or TV. We wouldn't want anyone to think you were a hypocrite!

    7

Good for her! But I hope she knows she will pay a lottttt of taxes!

Re: Gay Republican – oh shut the fuck up. you shouldnt control what others do with their body. GET OVER YOURSELF YOU FUCKING IDIOT.

  9. REPUB says – reply to this

    9

when ar eyou fricking people gonna get in the real world Marriage is not a RIGHT it is a privilege

  10. 10

Re: scooby1972 – how about the end of dont ask dont tell? you praise him for a week then youre right back to bashing him. fucking moron.

  11. 11

Re: imsodone – Same thoughts!! Dont come to America for a job you loser! Stay up there and become something to the great canadians! Stay here with this President and you will more successful on welfare!! Free baby delivery, free food, rental assistants, free daycare! Why am I working???? Same 90+ % that will vote for him!!! Wake up assholes!! No President is going to change the abortion wether he agrees or not you fools! There are beliefs they might feel but cant do NOTHING to change it! Unless like Obuma with backdoor BULLSHIT he does!!!

  12. 12

I am sorry! Who the fuck is she? Presidents last name??

  13. 13

yeaaah! come to canada!!! she's perfect!

  14. 14

props to sophia bush for speaking her mind!! also canada would love to have you!! i agree with your statement.

  15. 15

Re: REPUB – marriage is not just for one religion so to hold all marriages to the standards of one single religion is wrong. and when being married gives you RIGHTS to your spouse and kids then marriage does become a right. dumbass

  16. 16

Thumbs up for Sophia's statement! However, I find it funny when people always pull out going to Canada as an option to escape the US's problems. The people running for Republican presidency are very similar to who are actually IN power in Canada right now- the Conservatives. @sandip71 pointed out some of the issues here. That said, those issues remain regardless of who is in power, Liberal or Conservative. Same with the USA, Democrat or Republican, there are always the same issues it seems. Both sides campaign their extremes but when in power rarely fullfill those things. I think it's always best to stay where your 'home' is and fight to make it how you want it to be.

  17. 17

@sandip71.. actually that's not true. I know a 17 year old.. stabbed him mom 17 times and was out of jail at 24 free and clear. our laws and system are not great. but don't pay your taxes even one penny and you'll go to prison for life. It's stupid and unethical

  18. 18

Re: d20beckham – Everyone has the EQUAL right to marry someone of the OPPOSITE sex. Every is EQUALLY barred from marrying someone of the SAME sex. That is equality. Also I dare you to find me a real religion in this country that condones same-sex marriages, most of them say gays should get the death penalty.

  19. 19

someone in her wage bracket already pays over 40% in taxes. So it would be the same for her in Canada just with free health care

  20. 20

Re: Gay Republican – marriage isnt always about religion so the RIGHT to get married shouldnt be based on religion. thats a fact and you cannot dispute it. atheists can get married and that ceremony and marriage have NOTHING to do with god or religion then barring gay people from marrying no longer makes sense. case and point. fucking idiot.

  21. 21

She has the right to her own opinion. But has apparently she bought the old political liberal line. When liberals ( and conservatives) cant win an argument, they paint EVERYONE on the other side as an extremist. ITs easy but, not honest.

  22. 22

She is very intelligent and I believe in everything she said there. Love her! I also love the time she spends doing charity work.

  23. 23

Re: sandip71 – Every country has it's short comings. I have heard about how lenient your judicial system is, but make no mistake, just because ours is harsher, doesn't mean it's any more effective. We still have high crime rates all across the U.S.

Re: Gay Republican – Do you even have a fucking womb to be this livid. From your previous posts, I gather you're male. It kills me how men are the main ones who are "pro-life" when not ONE of you can lay down and have one.

Re: d20beckham – Exactly! People forget so quickly about the repeal of "Don't Ask Don't Tell". By the way, I am all for gay rights, but when we are in an extreme economic crisis, gay rights can not be at the top of the list. SORRY!

Re: REPUB – Are you fucking serious? Marriage is a privilege? If it were a privilege, it would be more exclusive. ANY two individuals at ANY time can run out and get married, as long as they are not of the same sex and of a certain age (depending on the state). Meaning, any drunk soriety girl can marry any drunken loser she meets at a club a minute after meeting him because she has the RIGHT to do so. While two people who have been together for years do not have the same luxury, based solely on the fact that they are of the same gender. That's called discrimination because they are being denied a right, not a privilege.

  24. 24

Such a silly, foolish, little girl!

  25. 25

Re: Gay Republican – Great explanation, I completely agree!

  26. 26

Re: Gay Republican – I guess it's it's a good thing when a woman brings an unwanted child in the world… lmfao. Fucking ignorant.

  27. 27

Good Bye… Don't let the border hit you on the behind. Idiot.

  28. 28

I feel as though either way, The United States is screwed in the upcoming election. Obama is too naive, even after four years in office, to maintain control in office. The republicans are too opinionated to gain the support and respect of the majority of citizens. Celebrities feel way to entitled in their role, especially when it comes to their political beliefs. Many endorse Obama because he "supports" gay rights, however, he was all words and no action on that matter. Then they like his stance on Green Energy, even though his investment cost the taxpayers billions of dollars just for a failed attempt. You can say all you want that he was put in office just to clean up Bush's mess, but he has already spent more money than any other president for the past 50 years and many of them served two terms in office and Obama has just spent one. What we need is a president who is willing to fix the economy, cut back on spending, and yes put stricter restrictions on the welfare system (gasp .. yes i said it.) For every story you hear on the liberal or conservative news station, there is another one. Everyone needs to accept that, learn from both sides and try to find a middle ground between the two and determine the best candidate. It is not fair or smart to judge a person on their personal beliefs, especially when they do not affect the more important matters.

  29. 29

    Re: sandip71 – Well said !!!

  30. 30

Way to go Sophia! You are a breath of fresh air!

  31. 31

Re: iammktb – That was the theme of the Million Mom March: I don't need a brain — I've got a womb. Liberals are always frightened by diversity of opinion. They think a fair way to decide passionately contested issues is for the federal government to issue uncompromising edicts giving liberals everything they want, and then to suppress all criticism of the edicts. The fascistic order, completely supplanting all democratic processes, is then known as a victory for "choice." As the Grand Inquisitor said in The Brothers Karamazov: "They have vanquished freedom and have done so to make men happy."
That's what the Supreme Court did in Roe vs. Wade, and has repeatedly done in periodic codicils to its original edict. Just this past term, in Stenberg vs. Carhart, the court expanded the apocryphal abortion right to an all-new right to stick a fork in the head of a half-born baby. The first lunacy keeps being rewritten to give abortion enthusiasts everything they could possibly want.

  32. 32

Re: KarrieBelle – On all of these comment threads, people go off on these hateful, ignorant, and horribly misspelled rants and it's so nice to see someone who will take the time to write out a thoughtful argument that embraces and defends all types of lifestyles for the fairness and liberty of equal rights

  33. 33

Re: KarrieBelle – yeah so I am a woman and how dare you say a man cant be pro-life. men in this country have to sit by and watch their babies get vacuumed out and never get born due to the decision they were not allowed to be a part of. Yes i have had a baby and it bothered me that I had to sign something that said the fathr of my child was allowed in the room because we were not married. That child is half the fathers and he deserves half the decision in the situation. How ignorant of you to say a man can not be pro life. Not all men are scum some men want there babies instead of having them killed out of selfishness. I also have an adopted sister. If you are pregnant give the baby up for adoption. With Abortion or Adoption you are going to have a mental battle with it in the future, at least with adoption you know your baby is alive and happy. With abortion the mother goes on for life regreting her decision, and if not regretting it she definitly thinks about it (yes, I have friends who have had them). Do not bash men just because some of them are scum bags. Some of them actually value the sanctity of life.

  34. 34

Re: Gay Republican – religious marriage is not necessary for legal marriage. i think the people who want to marry are primarily concerned about legal marruage, so why should religion have anything to with that. kinda of a church in state thing. if you're religion doesn't like it, then don't marry another dude. or quit it and go for it. who could begin to care who you, or anyone else marries.

  35. 35

Re: KarrieBelle – Spot on, on all accounts!!

  36. 36

UMMM, really…read her comment! most of you havent read it right! I live in Australia and just saying, we have way better politics that you guys! more human rights! i dont believe that Australia is 100% Perfect, but she raises valid points and i think other people that are in the public eye should take some of her grace, beacuse she is so nutural. she is very popular in Australia! Trust me from the outside looking in on America..it doesnt look too good! her opinions are certainly valid! i didnt even have an account for this site until i saw all of your slander towards her! i had to comment..some of you guys are awful!

  37. 37

Re: sandip71 – Clearly you've never been to the hospital. I've gone and had to wait less than 2 hours. My dad has has to go to the hospital for a seizure and then found out he had a brain tumor through further testing. He had the surgery within a week and a half. So good for you for spreading the misconception on long Canadian wait times. (Hope you were able to catch the sarcasm there)

  38. 38

Re: Jackay00 – She would definitely NOT pay 40% right now - based solely on the fact that she makes so much money. Didn't you hear, the people in this county who make the most money are taxed at a much lower rate than those who make significantly less than they do. Mitt himself admitted that his tax rate was probably somewhere around 15%.

  39. 39

Re: KarrieBelle – Instead of abortion, maybe you abortion lovers could use birth control correctly or just get spayed if you're going to carelessly f*** anything every time your in heat!

  40. 40

Re: KMTKK1020 – as well intentioned as your heartfelt edict may be, you should spend some time looking into the statistics of adopted children. Not every child is lucky enough to end up in a loving home that supports them the same way they may support their biological children. So before you go condemning a child to the government run abomination of adoption agencies, consider the majority and not the well fed minority.

  41. 41

Re: KMTKK1020 – Blame society honey, for it has set it up to make things much easier for a man to walk away from the situation of parenthood, than a woman. There are for more deadbeat dads than moms. And before everyone starts talking about how great their dads were, I assure you there is no need. I have a great dad too, but that still doesn't excuse the fact that generally speaking, more responsibility falls on the woman's end. Sad, but very true.

Re: smithygirl – That is a very ignorant thing to say. Me being pro choice, is not being an "abortion lover". I am sure no woman "loves" having an abortion. For some it may be a very tragic circumstance as to why she had to pick that option. Regardless of what a woman's reasons are for having an abortion, they are HER reasons and only SHE has to live with it. For the record, I am on birth control, but if some reason my birth control failed and I were to get pregnant anyways, I find it comforting to know that I have options, instead of being forced to carry and give birth to a child I do not want just so that people like yourself can feel righteous.

  42. 42

Re: smithygirl – I'm sorry but I don't think that ANYONE is an abortion lover. I'm sure no one is ever happy about being in a situation that could require an abortion. Having the choice is what is important to some people (hence pro choice).

  43. 43

Re: smithygirl – congrats you win for most ignorant comment of the post. and on perez hilton thats hard to accomplish because of all the fucking morons.

  44. 44

Re: KarrieBelle – There are more deadbeat dads than moms. Yes because deadbeat moms have the option of killing their babies.

  45. 45

Re: d20beckhamRe: jaystarr – Listen, it's not 1812 it's 2012. So if you don't want to be pregnant, use birth control, it's everywhere, no matter how poor you are, it's free too! No excuses! It's about personal responsibility! I'd have to say that there are more stupid, lazy, sluts in the abortion line than there are in the "I'm not pregnant" line. I cannot believe that you seriously think a comment about taking proactive responsibility to avoid pregnancy and avoiding the need to have an abortion is the dumbest thing you've heard! The dumbest I've read is your "do want ever feels good, regardless of the complications attitude" comment! That's why I made the "spay" comment, because animals don't know any better! Grow a brain!

  46. 46

Re: iammktb – Your comment is disgusting. Just because the woman bringing the child into the world doesn't want the child, that does not mean that there aren't thousands of parents unable to conceive that would gladly adopt. YOU are the ignorant one.

  47. 47

Re: jaystarr – Yes there are lots of "pro choice"
I choose to take birth control, CORRECTLY
I choose not to have sex, because I'm not on birth control
I choose to take care of my body, so I never end up having to be "pro choice"
It's all about personal responsibility and it's a hell of a lot easier than an abortion!
It is a choice to be lazy, stupid, and to have a "it will never happen to me" attitude!

  48. 48

LOOOOOOOL she should not come to canada right now…..with the conservatives……. stephen harper (he's disgusting) is just like George W Bush :(

  49. 49

Re: VirginGirl – Better that, than having a child for all the wrong reasons. What's funny here is the same people who are "pro-life" usually support the death penalty and usually are very opposed about all the social programs that young single mothers get if they fall into a lower income bracket.

Abortion is not a birth control device and I hope no woman is using it as such. However, no birth control is 100%. Shit happens! Rape happens! What do you tell a woman who's been raped? Should she be forced to walk around carrying the fetus of her attacker? Then again, why would any of you pro-lifers care? She's the one who has to live with it, not you!

  50. 50

Re: Gay Republican – You're probably a dumb red neck. You think it's better for two 15 - year olds, to have a baby than to get an abortion before a fetus even has a heart beat? Really? To fuck up TWO kids;'s future along with the soon-to-be born baby, who will NEVER have the amazing life like a fully working adult can provide? A marriage is a right, if you've ever read you're country's constitution which I highly doubt you did. Along with neither in the old or new testimonial bibles does it say that gays are frowned upon, it is an INTERPRETATION that has been done by dumb assholes like you. Last point, you do realize you are commenting on a site that is made by a proud openly gay, right? so far you are the one who seem like a hypocrite.

  51. 51

Re: KarrieBelle – You don't want to be stereotyped as an abortion lover and yet you put my stance against abortion into a stereotypical conservative pool of beliefs. I believe that pro-choice people are discriminating against the unborn baby. If you don't want your worth to based on your intelligence or how you look like than a fetus' worth shouldn't be based on that as well.

  52. 52

    Cheers to that!!

  53. 53

don't go, stay and keep talking!

  54. 54

Re: scooby1972 – Obama hasn't done too much for gay rights, but he also hasn't done anything AGAINST them like some of these other candidates would be happy to do.

  55. 55

Re: Gay Republican – reguardless of whidh religion also or dosnt allow gays, the point is religous beliefs should not become law. what about people who dont believe in any god…thats not equal for them, or if one religon gets their belief made into law and another doesnt…great now we have religion fighting for power. you have seen what happens when that occurs havent you?

  56. 56

obama hasnt done much to fight for gay rights..thank you congress for that too, sorry thank the republicans in congress. they stone walled him every chance they got, made him produce a birth certificate for no reason (he is u.s citizents and the republican acusers either were wrong or made it all up), threatened to shut down gov. he was too dealing with those children plus oh yeah trying to reverse bush's economic collaspe and save our country. you obama haters really make your selfs look dumb like conspiracy theorists. nothing you say makes sense and you contradict yourselves all the time

  57. 57

mitt is against raising tax on teh wealthy
then mitt is found to be paying income tax rate lower than most middle class his reason because most wealthy poeple have lots of money in investments which are taxed lower….so why so up in arms about a little tax raise, how again is that unfair?

obama critized for taking a 10 christmas vaca. bush took 1/4 of the year off for vacation during 2 wars and a crumbling economy

they critized obama for being ineffective.. republicans have been historically the least effective in history, and have threatened to shut down the gov 3 times. last

oh last republican president tripled our national debt, got us into 2 wars one of which based on lies and ruined our rep around the world and are republican congress agian most ineffective in history. everytime republicans gain power the country goes to sh@t

obama's thing he hasnt cleaned up bush's mess quick enough

  58. 58

the end point is they are all corrupt they are all in it for money, power and the trapping that come with that. they all pander and they all push the agenda of their biggest contributors. (argue it all you want but the republicans dont want to raise taxes on the wealthy because they will loose their campaign money and kick backs, and they themselves would be voting to take money out of their own pockets. and these guys find all the loop holes to keep as much of it as they can. but im not gonna say democrats arent innocent of the same. basically we get stuck in this democrat vs. republican thing so the country is polarized in it. what then happens is we the voters dont think to much about who the best or worst canidate really is and just vote because they arent the republican canidate or the democratic canidate. i guarantee if we voted out congress etc. that way of being would change. they do it because we let them get away with it

  59. 59

Most insightful thing I've heard a celebrity say all year. Granted, we're still in Januray, but a great comment nonetheless. Clever woman. She should just move to Canada as soon as possible, I doubt things will change for the better. Pack your bags, travel safe.

  60. 60

Re: Gay Republican – "I dare you to find me a real religion in this country that condones same-sex marriages, most of them say gays should get the death penalty." And that said it all. A real religion condones hate towards innocents and murder of innocents. Ain't that sumthin', Bubba?

  61. 61

Re: VirginGirl – First of all I said "usually" so as not to generalize. Secondly, to call abortion "discrimination" is just asinine! Quit acting like there is some sort of coalition of women against fetuses! If anything, your strong anti abortion stance is discrimination. You have no idea what makes a woman choose to have an abortion. There could be many reasons why she came to such a difficult decision and she alone will have to live with it. If you're against abortion, fine, no one will make you have one. However, you shouldn't deny that right to me or anyone else because you will not have to live with my decision, I WILL!

  62. 62

she's so naive, i'm sorry if gay marriage and abortion is not at the top of my list of concerns. what about trying to find a way survive in this economy? of course she isn't concerned with that… like most celebrities that some people choose to follow. republicans will NOT take away your "right" to an abortion, that's safe trust me. Gay marriage? that is slowly being taken care of at the state level and is not as pressing as our economic crisis. at least i know that keeping more of our money is at the top of the republican's agenda, and that's most important. sorry.

  63. 63

Re: toolman85 – it's 15% tax off investment earnings for everyone, because that money has already been taxed… hello. that's fair. i don't want my investments to be double and triple taxed! we don't need to raise taxes we need to cut government frivolous spending.

  64. 64

Re: Yenkme – Always complaining shut the fuck up, bitter white whore.

  65. 65

Re: smithygirlRe: KMTKK1020 – Can't believe you are unable to see the grey area here. It's not a fact all unwanted pregnancies are the result of laziness and only happen to girls who sleep around. As many have said and what you fail to understand is that birth control is not 100%. You might get unlucky and not have the means to raise a child, it happens, what then? What if a 12-year old girl gets raped? Would you honestly advise a child to not abort the baby but to have it and give it up for adoption? Madness.
