Iran Vs. Barbie Dolls

iran vs barbie dolls

Sorry, Iranian Twilight fans! Sounds like those Breaking Dawn Barbies are gonna be off-limits!

Yesterday, shopkeepers in Tehran, Iran announced that "morality police" have been amping up efforts against sales of Barbie dolls in the county.

Here's what a toy shop owner in norther Tehran had to say about it:

"About three weeks ago they (the morality police) came to our shop, asking us to remove all the Barbies."

More from another toy shop manager in Tehran:

"We still sell Barbies but secretly and put these in the window to make the police think we are just selling these kinds of dolls."

The dolls he's referring to are Sara and Dara. The female doll is dressed in accordance with Iran's rule that all women must cover their hair and wear loose-fitting clothes. As for the male doll - he wears a variety of "traditional dress."

We hope that these morality police will have a change of heart…but we doubt it will happen.

Our thoughts go out to the Iranian children who may be missing out on some of the greatest dolls of all time!

Such a bummer.

Yeah duh, welcome to the world of muslims Perez, the people you defend. They also are not allowed to show their arms or wrists or legs or ankles, even in the hottest temperatures. This is just a glimpse of how women are viewed in this barbaric religion.

That's right…today, no Barbies in Iran. Tomorrow, no Barbies in the WORLD! Tell me again how you admire these people?????

I liked the twilight movies, thought they were entertaining, but I just don't see why there's all this fuss, people getting tattoos of twilight related things, and going ape shit about it, it just seems so odd.

Re: Swedeheart – You should not criticize what you can't understand. Only fundamentalist muslims treat their women that way. The rest, or at least quite a few of them have an archaic vision of women. Same with Jews, same with… catholics.
