With Ratings Like This, The Revolution May Only Have One Season To Live!

the revolution

The Revolution is a brand-new ABC talk show hosted by Ty Pennington, Tim Gunn, Dr. Tiffanie Davis Henry, Dr. Jennifer Ashton, and celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak.

Aimed toward a broad range of personalities, they take lifestyle topics and discuss them from every angle to help audiences make positive choices in their own lives.

Unfortunately, the show had a weak premiere. Nielsen reports a 1.9 rating… which is far below the 2.4 rating One Life To Live maintained in the same time slot.

We're betting there's a lot of intentional avoidance since many of those at home ’round that time were watching OLTL… and we all know how loyal soap fans can be!!

We hope they can pick it up, though. Otherwise ABC might consider rebuilding Llanview after all!!!

    good bring back my soaps

  2. 2

Good, haven't watched ABC daytime since they took off their two best soaps! Bah Humbug, ABC!

  3. 3

Well acted, scripted drama with continuity and a loyal following versus yet another ho hum, low budget reality rip off hybrid. ABC deserves what it gets.

  4. 4

Good. They shouldn't have cancelled AMC or OLTL with such a flippant attitude. I hope both of these new shows go dark. WTF is having one show on that tells you about food (which is what the Food Network is for) and then have another show about…this shit?

  5. 5

A truly boring concept. How quickly can ABC regroup their AMC and OLTL? Bring it!!!

  6. 6

Who did ABC consult with before they made the decision to take OLTL off the air? Stupid move ABC…stupid move.

  7. 7

I hope this and the Chew go down in disgrace for having replaced the soaps AMC and OLTL! The viewers don't want to see this stuff or they would have already been ewatching it on another channel! We WANT our soaps!!!!

  8. 8

That's what ABC gets for canceling a show that has 62 years and generations of loyal followers.

  10. 10

They are trying to do what Oprah already did but THEY ARE NOT OPRAH! And Oprah had the lead in of 3 soaps! Bring back Landview!

  11. 11

ABC screwed up big time taking off All My Children and One Life To Live. I have not watched ABC except for GH on Soapnet. ABC may want to start making plans to be the lowest rated network. Soap opera fans are loyal and united. Getting stronger daily. I think they need to get moving and fast. If soap fans get hooked on other network soaps to pass the time they may not go back to a network that upset them in the first place. We will never watch the replacement shows!!!!!

  12. 12

This news doesn't surprise me or the millions of other OLTL fans. ABC screwed the pooch on when it decided to cancel daytime drama. I just hope the sponsors are paying attention. I quit watching ABC/Disney/ESPN back in April (except the soaps) when they announced the cancellations. Guess what? I don't miss those networks at all.

  13. 13

Though, I am sad OLTL is gone, keep in mind The Revolution premiered on MLK day-a holiday for a lot people, who wouldn't be home in front of the tv that day.

  14. 14

Re: TruthSquad – I would think that more people would be home to watch on MLK day if they are off from work

  15. 15

I would think there would be more people home to watch if they were off for MLK day.

  16. 16

I never liked the soaps but I'm not interested in another shitty makeover talk show. Bleeeh! I'm already worn out from Kelly and the view. I don't need more people telling me this and that.

  17. 17

I hope both The Chew and Revolution FAIL

  18. 18

ABC made a huge mistake by cancelling the soaps. Who wants to spend the day watching one stupid talk show after another? Both these new shows suck and won't last long. ABC should try to fix their mistake asap and bring OLTL back!!!!

  19. 19

Keep living and you'll keep learning ABC…

  20. 20

Well, well, well - big surprise huh? I hope the ratings continue to decline…ABC really messed up on this one…and I couldn't be happier! Oh yeah…I could - bring back by damn soaps!!

  21. 21

We hope they can pick it up, though. Otherwise ABC might consider rebuilding Llanview after all!!! Let Then!! OLTL! Forever!!

  22. 22

I was never a soap opera watcher (well, except a bit while in college) but I did happen to see the first of "The Revolution". It was worse than "The Chew" (and I didn't think such would be possible). ABC reallllllly dropped the ball on its programming. I liken it to the debacle which Coca-Cola suffered years ago when it introduced its "new" Coke. What an epic television fail both of these shows are. And these multi-host shows are the biggest, sloppiest, most annoying MESSES. They ought to fix themselves before handing out there Reader's Digest and Mademoiselle magazine-level "advice" every day.

    :o )

As a 24 year fan of OLTL and a passionate believer that the genre is truly worth saving! Generations of women from grandma to mom too dAUghter and this is almost every story that you read. ABC didnt consider the viewers and what they didnt see coming was the blatent defiance from the soapers now they are hiding and dont want too hear us. Well to late you ABC messed with the wrong market of viewers and a 17% loss its first day was a exclamation point on the movement. Wise up ABC give us what we want cause its only gonna get worse!

  26. 26

I so love that the rating are in the toitet. I want Llanview rebuilt now!

  27. 27

Bring on the Revocation, and bring back One Life To Live!

  28. 28

Perez can't you PLEASE help us save OLTL? Most of us would even pay a separate cable channel or internet fee to watch it. I will never watch anything on ABC after this. How can a network be so blind as to turn away a loyal audience base?

  29. 29

Glad abc is flopping on the shows they used to replace Daytime tv

  30. 30

we want our shows back no one wants yet another self improvment show the proof isin the ratings

  31. 31

Sorry but I'm glad the shows are not doing good. Abc should of never canceled All My Children and One Life To Live. Maybe they will bring it back.

  32. 32

Are they surprised "The Revulsion” is not getting viewers ? Stupid premise and you will NEVER get anyone who watched the soaps. Brian Frons statement that we can be "TRAINED" to watch this show and "the Spew" is downright funny.General Hospital is the ONLY show on ABC/DISNEY ALLOWED in my home.We will NOT give up on our soaps BUT we WILL give up ABC/DISNEY

  33. 33

Brian Frons and cohorts certainly destroyed ABC daytime!! I predict these shows will ultimately be replaced. I bet some kingpins at ABC are pulling their hair out. GOOD. Bring back the soaps and we loyal soap fans will return to your programming. Not until then.

  34. 34

I love it! I want my soaps back!

  35. 35

I am so glad that these shows are doing so badly. (big smile on my face) They should have listened to us, the fans of daytime, and we could have made life much easier for the producers. I want our point to be proven that the loyalty of the daytime viewer over 49 is valuable, and they had no right to discount us like what we watch means nothing. So you reap what you sow ABC/Disney, you reap what you sow. I applaud all of our daytime soap stars for all the fine work that they have done over the years. If ABC/Disney what's ratings, put our soaps back on and employ all those people that you put out of their jobs.

  36. 36

WEll I am one of those that will never watch any other show in that time slot than OLTL,, One life to live was entertainment now only for housewives, but for disabled folks and nursing homes, One Life to Live was something they looked forward to everyday and now its gone,, I will never watch The revolution

  37. 37

I will never watch the revolution !!!!!! Never EVER

  38. 38

Believe me, no one has to avoid ABC's programming intentionally. It's horrible. Thanks, ABC, for taking off a show I've loved for over three decades and replacing it with this dreck. If you need me, executives, I'll be watching soaps on another network.

  39. 39

GOOD! Hope they flop along with The Chew.
    Bring back ANCIENT &it TOLL!!

  40. 40

That's right we run the ratings not you abc. We don't give a hoot's tail about this reality BS. There is not competition in reality tv, there is an abundance of this being shoved down our throat. In the begining it was cool, but after a while it burns you out, unlike 43 years of One Life To Live

  41. 41

you"ll have to rebuild Llanview before i would watch the shows that took OLTL and AMC off the air. Brian Fronc should be ashamed of himself. He CANNOT TRAIN us to like what we dont want. They didnt listen to their viewers and now they r paying the price. Good. We do count and we WILL NOT b trained to watch anything we dont want.

  42. 42

Since ABC cancelled the daytime dramas

I think ABC should call all of the morning line up and most of the afternoon line up

ABC: I will not watch it on a train, I will not watch it in the rain.

May the Revolution die a swift death and take the Chew with it.

A curse on ABC. At least give the rights of our shows back to Agnes Nixon.
