Could General Hospital Live On…In Primetime???

general hospital may live on

Ya hear that, GH fans? There isn't LOTS of hope…but there's still some!

Last week, ABC's president announced that the network hadn't made a decision yet about whether or not they'll be cancelling General Hospital.

Now, ABC's entertainment chief Paul Lee has confirmed that the network is considering the possibility of airing GH "as an evening summer series."

Intriguing idea! We have a feeling there are TONS of fans out there who would give anything for their favorite soap to live on!

What do U think? Should they continue GH as a primetime show???

I now hate ABC Daytime executives and this is just another way to try to agonize the soap fans. I don't believe this is asincere thought on their part for one moment!

Leave General Hospital the way it is. People love GH and the shows that they're replacing these soaps with aren't doing well so they need to stop doing this.

General Hospital is a moneymaker for ABC. If they kick it to the street for Katie Couric, they will be making a huge mistake. Katie was last in the ratings when she anchored the CBS Evening News and daytime doesn't need another "talk show". We are being talked to death. Moving GH out of the time slot they have had for 49 years is insane. As long as ABC leaves it on the air GH fans will find it. That is what DVRs are for. But note to Paul Lee, just leave GH alone.

One Life had better ratings at a more competitive time slot, and the idiots at ABC canned it. They tried a primetime GH (GH Night Shift) in 2007 and it bombed. ABC Daytime hasnt learned that the best way to handle scripted daytime TV is to leave it alone. And if all this is to open more time for yet another insipid chat show with some makeover experts or some Katie Couric type - the really need to reconsider just airing informercials from noon to five. Theyd be far more intelligent and engaging than the current ABC Daytime lineup.
