'Topless' Photo Gets Iranian Actress Banned From Iran

So dumb!

A beautiful Iranian actress has been banned from her home country because of this tasteful "nude" photo (above) she took for a French magazine.

Golshifteh Farahani, who played opposite Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe in Body of Lies, and is SUPER famous in Iran — but was just informed she's not welcomed back.

Farahani says that after her not-so-topless photograph was published in France’s Madame Le Figaro magazine…

“I was told by a Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guide official that Iran does not need any actors or artists. You may offer your artistic services somewhere else."

The Iranian government hasn't been a fan of Farahani's work for a long time.

The actress was forced to move to Paris back in 2008 after Iranian authorities said she broke a law by making a movie without permission. So crazy!

Gurlfriend is SO Brave! Her story reminds us to NEVER take our rights for granted!

    God bless the USA

Santorum and Gingrich and Perry definitely wouldn't have her here either. Romney would say 'Oh my gosh." and probably not let her in.

I am surprised they didn't stone her to death already. Again, Perez, the religion you defend so often on your site, Islam, is the reason behind this. Look up "Sharia Law" and burst your little American bubble.

As fucked up as this may be, it's Iran, what did she expect? She clearly doesn't care about being banner or about her one country. If people can't walk around without a veil there, what did she expect would happen after a nude shot? no matter how tasteful it is

Re: Swedeheart – Sen när försvarar Perez eller någon annan Islam? Lite vanföreställning av dig att tro att folk försvara Islam och att det är upp till dig att störa den friden.

Suddenly your little gay issues don't seem so important do they FatHead.

like really…. being banned from Iran aint exactly a detriment. Hmmmm… go live in Iran and be censored to death or go live in Paris… hmmmm. Such a tough decision. Get realz. Next.

She might as well move to LA where nudity gets you noticed!

oh no, you mean i cant go back to one of the most opressive and shitty countries in the world! WINNING!

Re: Alexima – I second your opinion.

Situations like this tear me apart. Sure, we have to respect other cultures, but it's hard to understand things like this when we see it through American eyes. I agree with Re: kriemkriem – . She knows her country better than we do, so why would she pose semi-nude without expecting to get banned? I think she knew exactly what she was doing.

Iran is known to be a shit hole that thrives on oppressing women. Come to France, it's much more civilized here, + there's no Ayatollah al Nutjob, so it's win/win!

if only she'd do a porno - we'd make her queen of america …

oh no, got banned from Iran thats gotta be….oh wait, surely thats gotta be a relief.

    Re: dlstxmale – Seriously.

Brilliant - she gets publicity and refugee status in another (better) country!

I wish America had some values. Instead we have TV stations trying to get the Supreme Court to allow "Fuck" during primtime. Sometimes the peaple need to say "enough!!" Banning nudity is at least a step - whereas we are allowing our culture to drop into the toilet without a second thought.

Perez - What rights for granted? She might need "permission" but we Americans need to REPORT all the money we made elsewhere and then get taxed for it. I'd rather get permission than charged!

Actually that's not the picture of why she was banned, there's other pictures which she basically looked like she posed for Playboy, tasteless if you ask me. Stop informing your audience false information

    She had a lucky escape.

Paris isn't such a bad place to operate out of. She should continue to do great stuff and really show the world the people of Iran have abilities, talent, and the ladies have beauty and there are some men that are lookers (like everywhere). Religious Fundamentalist don't bring much to anyone's table…
