Mileybird Digs Down Deep For Bob Dylan Cover For Amnesty International

| Filed under: Music MinuteInspirationMiley Cyrus

It doesn't even sound like her until she gets to the vibrato. But then it's like, "Oh, she's just being Miley!"

Miley Cyrus is one of dozens and dozens of artists who are featured on the new album Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International. In an homage to a great man and a great organization, some of the best in music got together to cover some of Dylan's best songs.

Here is Mileybird's contribution — a softer, more melodic version of You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go. Check out the video (above) to see Miley lay it down.

Not bad. Not bad. We can tell she really gave it her all.

I was really happy when you just left us and smoke your stuff and leaved us alone, MILEY. Dylan was a wordsmith and a bastion of rhythm and tones on the guitar. A poet that chronicled what a generation was feeling. People who take Dylan on, usually feel a soul kindred, I am not being fussy, I just mean like a Sheryl Crow or an morrisette (there have been greats take him on) might not usually be A dylan style but they could feel that talented rhaspy feel, may not be my favorites but I have heard them do it and get it. I was also Blown Away the first time I heard G love "Fixin' to Die" He changed it up and brought s/thing to it musically and I was G Love Who? It was amazing. I am not a huge Dylan fan but I have mad respect for him as any artist. Miley Cyrus is not an Artist or singer and the above makes me want to vomit hot coals. She is everything that Dylan poigniantly described a sellout to be.

Miley Cyrus? Covering Bob Dylan? Where can I buy a one-way ticket for Mars?

Re: Comments off C off – Uh yes, what you said! Just because you admire Dylan does NOT mean you should attempt to sing one of his songs. The only person allowed to destroy a Dylan song is Bob Dylan ;)

Re: Comments off C off – Sheryl Crow a great LOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOL

Re: Comments off C off – I see your point, but remember that Alanis Morrisette was a pop-star when she was Miley's age and only later became true to herself as an artist. Maybe Miley will too.

    Re: rosebud99 – FERGIE)))))) I chose 2 POP stars that were not "greats" and pointing out how they were somewhat could understand DYLAN. "(there have been greats take him on", {I left out too also}) I meant in addition to pop stars, I used those 2 examples( Crow + Morrisette) because they were on the pop charts , pop stars…..I misspoke I apologize. Thanx Rosebud for catching my error and just stating. ( ;

Dolly Parton “““““` inspired? Yup Yup!!

The only reasons she did a DYlan song is because , she , like Dylan, has no vocal range. He didn't need one he has talent. She has a vocal cord w/ a shake. To explain how cool her pot smoking is….Mayb he even gave her his blessing but musicians have to buy their own health insurance and meds are high. He doesn't own the rights to his own songs.

I'm not a fan of Miley Cyrus, but I must say that I really like this cover. I like the simplicity, it doesn't feel like it's all bells & whistles, it feels real. I'm pretty impressed.

  15. 15

Sounds better than before, very different - more mature. I thought it was good.
I couldn't stand this girl in the beginning, but she has a strong personality and she's tough, and I respect the latter. Not enough tough people in this world, let's hope she will use her toughness for something good.

  16. 16

She is truly one of the most disgusting looking people on the internet.

  17. 17

    Wow, very good. I'm impressed

"In an homage to a great man and a great organization, some of the best in music got together to cover some of Dylan's best songs"

And who did miley pay to get in on this?

  19. 19

All of those people hating need to get a life. Can you sing like this? She has really grown up and matured. This was an amazing cover for an amazing cause. Loved it and love her.

  20. 20

the only good thing about Miley is that hottie of a boyfriend she has! i bet they break up after The Hunger Games come out

  21. 21

Much better than some of her recent stuff. This low key song is in the wheelhouse of her vocal range. Like.

  22. 22

    so pretty

  23. 23

Well well well, seems like Miley is growing and maturing as an artist. She was a bit too young for my generation (I'm 29) .. but I must say, I do like a few of her songs - this one included. She looks cute too :)

  24. 24

she sounds really amazing and people need to stop hating because guess what she is rich, talened, famous, and beautiful and guess what most of you are not half of those

  25. 25

DAMN shes hot!!!!! as a singer she aint all that….

With this video Miley announced her self as a truly great musician in the making. Her interpretation of the Dylan song must surely make the great Bob proud himself. She displays the tremendous power and versatility of her voice as its soft vibrato/tremolo sweeps over you like a summer wind.

Moreover, we get a glimpse of her inner self, her personality and her intimate world of feelings on love and life. She shows us Miley has soul, depth and empathy.

But what makes the song and video so addictive is how the drab and dirty surrounding are contrasted by Miley's stunning beauty. When the camera pans away to the room, we are left craving for another view of her face, which flits in and out of the surrounding gloom like the sun breaking through shifting gray clouds.

The song is one of those gems that you just know is an all-timer once you hear it. And at the end she looks across at Johnzo with a flick of her eye lashes in a way that only certain women can.

  27. 27

Wow, this sounds great! I'm thoroughly impressed! Her voice just sounds so soft and folksy… makes me wish I was out walking through a field in the country on a warm summer day. This type music suits her soooooo much better than pop. Miley, please consider switching genre's. Thank you.

  28. 28

Re: lexi2463 – SHE'S not even half of those. She's certainly rich and famous. You can leave out talented and beautiful.

Not going to lie, I love Miley. But I love Bobby D WAY more. And the fact that people like Miley and Kesha got to cover one of his songs? Come on. It really just pisses me off. At least they're not all techno and stupid. All I can say is thank god they did not disrespect his songs.
