    I graduated from Pepperdine in 1996. It is very conservative. BUT you know that when you accept the offer to become a student. They are firmly rooted in the outdated church of Christ morality system, but they don't hide that either, they are very up front about it. IF you want a traditional liberal education, you go to UCLA.

    I'm not sure what part of this you don't get. It's a private religious school. Not only do they have the right, but according to their religion, and every other religion in the world, it's a sin to act on homosexual feelings, therefore it would be hypocritical for them to allow this. You don't want equal, you want special. And by the way, while USC is private, it still receives federal monies so it has no choice but to allow diversity. Read a fucking book moron.

    It is a "Christian" university and private at that, so they do have the right to do what they did. If you're gay, don't go to a Christian university, simple as that. It's hard to convince Christians that homosexuality is not a huge sin. They put their religion first and foremost, so if that's the way they see it, go somewhere else. People are supposed to choose colleges that suit their needs anyway, and if someone is gay, I highly doubt a Christian college is the way for them to go. People shouldn't choose some sins as being worse than others, but they do (have you seen anyone flip out at someone for eating shellfish? No, but it too is a sin).

    I went to Pepperdine and I'm gay. I loved the school and the education. There are a group of gays and lesbians who want to improve the school they love to accept and discuss gay topics and not simply skirt the issue. I specifically chose Pepperdine University *because* it was a Christian school. Being gay and Christian is not mutually exclusive.

    Students are there to learn not to pray or get laid.

    Pepperdine states up front that it is a religious school. They have a right to practice their religious and educate how they see fit….they are a private university. Get over it.

    In other news Pepperdine disallows the 'Women Give Blow Job Club'…emphasize studying instead.

    Re: buck – It's about open discussion about the history and current political environment concerning LGBT individuals. Being a place of education, this is a critical part of human history and social interaction. I am sorry you feel that being gay is only about sex, you could certainly learn a lot through discussion and community.

    Re: buck – Why do you always focus on sex? Hundreds of politicians, philosophers, artists and writers were gay or lesbian and it influenced our history. I'm sorry that you are so deeply focus on male genitalia, but being gay to me is about love and community.
