Washington State Set To Legalize Gay Marriage!!!

Washington gay marriage

WOO HOO!!!! Go Washington!!!

With democratic Senator Mary Margaret Haugen announcing that she plans on being the 25th vote necessary to pass the same-sex marriage bill out of the state Senate, Washington is about to become the 7th state to legalize gay marriage!

She said she came to her decision after taking time "to reconcile my religious beliefs with my beliefs as an American, as a legislator, and as a wife and mother who cannot deny to others the joys and benefits I enjoy. This is the right vote and it is the vote I will cast when this measure comes to the floor.”

That's totally the right mindset to be in if you are a lawmaker. We hate to break it to any legislator still on the fence about this issue, but your personal beliefs don't mean squat because you're representing the people, not whatever spiritual being may or may not be watching over you.

Gov. Chris Gregoire also announced her support for same-sex marriage earlier this month by saying, "It is time in Washington state for marriage equality. It is time; it’s the right thing to do.”

Yes it is! We're so, so, SO proud of Washington and can't wait for more states to take the same kind of action!

EQUALITY FOR ALL!!!

This is so sicking and I'm sad and disgusted that I live in Washington State.. It's Sodum and Gomorrah all over again, only a matter of time before God wipes all the sickness off this earth!

Re: Dia223 – Yeah, and as a citizen from a non-Washington state, I'm glad you live in Washington. You keep hoping for your 'god' to do that, okay? Here's hoping he has a better idea of what 'sickness' is than you do.

On another note, you bring a kind of freshness that we don't see much on this site. I actually laughed out loud, thinking you were joking. I'd appreciate it if you would post more often, since I don't really get to come into contact with many people who are completely batshit crazy.

There's plenty of 'real' bad people out there who do 'real' bad things. I think we can both agree that your 'god' has better things to do than throw a hissy fit at two people in love marrying each other.

You keep on keepin' on, though. If you truly hold these opinions, you've got a great road ahead of you as our country progresses. But, hey, we can't all be thinkers, right?

I, too, am a WA resident.

It's sad that society has deteriorated to recognizing sexual perversion as normal.

To the LGBT community of Washington - congratulations! There is a higher power that loves each and every one of you. Many blessings! ~ Massachusetts resident enjoying life in an equal state who didn't experience the sky falling or "wrath of God" when we passed marriage equality

I think it is good that Washington will be passing this law!! Who are we to say that the GLBT community aren't allowed to have the same rights as the straight community? Go Washington!!
