In acting there is what they call "emoting" which in essence is the ability to express emotions through not just talking and singing but through facial expression. Nick Jonas cannot "emote". He has one expression the whole time he is singing which is a "sad, serious" look. I saw him in Les Miz and he was even worse. His Marius was a one dimensional character with no expression and it was very frustrating to watch.
Singing wise he does a better job in HowToSucceed then in Les Miz but it is not all about just the singing. The role of Finch requires charisma in spades which Jonas just does not have. This was just true stunt casting to make money. I believe our dear Perez is being sarcastic when he writes about Nick's "incredible personality". I mean…the guy is incredibly boring with his sad, hound dog face. Interesting to see if he can rake in the $$ the way Darren Criss did.

Yeah, I don't know who he is?

Re: astroboy – Well, I thought he was charming on GMA and I would go see him in his show. Darren Chriss always hams it up which I guess is what your referring to when you say " emoting" and Daniel Radcliffe, I heard was pretty good. Each to his own, I guess, but I personally find that hamming it up gets old real fast and quite annoying actually.

Re: ThIsIsFaLSe – That's like saying you don't know who Justin Bieber is. Nick Jonas is the youngest brother of the boy band "Jonas Brothers". Justin Bieber is extremely popular with the kids these days. They both have had crazy success. The Jonas Brothers just did it first. Nick is 19, Daniel Radcliffe is 22 and Darren Chriss turns 25 next week. They are all young, that's for sure. I heard they were all great in the part.

You've really started stalking him since he mentioned your name once in some interview. You're a predator, hope he knows that.

Re: be strong – Hamming it up is exactly what the role of Finch is supposed to do. Nick Jonas can't express himself that way. He seems too self conscious and worried about his singing. I just think he is a wooden actor with a limited range.

    OMG! He is so cute.
    Very classy.

Re: astroboy – I understand and agree with you but we have to recognize that he's doing amazing. I mean, people actually expect LESS from him because, yes, the guy has been on broadway a few times but that's NOT what he does all the time. He doesn't act, he doesn't do theater, he sings and play instruments.
For a person that doesn't act all the time, I think he's doing pretty great and people is loving it. Daniel is an actor, he was better acting than Nick, but Nick is better in singing because Nick is a singer. Do you understand what I mean?

Yeeeahh, I don't agree that he can't emote. Saw the show twice (rush tickets and some free ones) and he did amazing. I think he surpassed so many peoples expectations because in this show he does so much more than we've seen from him (less self-conscious, dancing and just acting silly). In the two shows I've seen him in he plays his role as Finch really well, he's gotten some really great applause and it was really enjoyable. And not for nothing I love Les Mis with all it's deep and serious themes but Les Mis was pretty boring as a concert. He obviously wouldn't be playing the main role for such a highly esteemed play if he was "wooden". Go see it then be a critic… just saying.
