A moment of silence to honor such an incredible accomplishment.

Uh! Did you hear that? Somewhere, Whitney Houston is shaking in her boots!

Adele's album 21 has done what most people would've guessed was unthinkable. As of this week, the disc has spent an astounding 17 weeks at the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. Not since The Bodyguard soundtrack - which bowed out after 20 weeks at #1 - has an album maintained the prized spot.

She's already sunk Titanic's record … could Whitney's be next? That would be a colossal achievement, one that would cause quite the stir in the music community!

Can she do it? CAN SHE DO IT? Stay tuned!

MEHHH…. MUSIC RECORDS THESE DAYS DONT MEAN SHIT. LIKE KATY PERRY TRUYING TO BEAT MJ'S HIT SINGLES RECORD. TOTALLY PATHETIC. BACK IN THE DAY BEING #1 REALLY MEANT BEING NUMBER #1 AND GETTING A GAZILLION SALES. THESE DAYS MAKING A FEW K HERE AND THERE IS SUPPOSED TO BE SHIT?? SMFH… SHE MAY BEAT WHITNEY'S BODY GUARD BUT CERTAINLY WONT BEAT HER SALES. TBG SOLD OVER 44 MILLION WORLDWIDE. IS ADELE EVEN AT 10 MIL YET?? EXACTLY… NEXT.

A billboard No 1 doesn't mean shit, only 40% of the rating comes from real sales, the rest is their weird-ass formula that includes airplay, which means nothing if it doesn't convert into sales. I'm not hating on Adele, her SALES figures speak for themselves, I just don't think a Billboard No 1, no matter how many weeks, is anything to get really excited about. Having the best selling album WORLDWIDE of 2011 is something to get excited about ;o)

Re: xcalibur – but these days artists have to deal with illegal downloads so of course real live sales are not going to compare….thanks to technology!

Re: chickie63 – FACT IS ILLEGAL DOWNLOADS COMPRISE OF ONLY 5% OF SALES, MAX. EVEN IF YOU ADD THAT BACK IT STILL DOESNT ACCOUNT FOR HUGE DECLINE IN SALES… THOUGH LACKLUSTRE MUSIC QUALITY AND FAKE ASS ARTISTS WHO PRODUCE MUSIC THAT THE GENERAL PUBLIC DONT GIVE A RATS ASS ABOUT WOULD BE ALOT MORE ACCOUNTABLE. NEXT.

    Re: xcalibur

Adele is still number 1 on the world album charts (31 weeks) and yes she has sold more than 10 million albums. The figure is now around 18 million. Stop being so negative.

    Re: xcaliburRe: xcalibur

Adele is still number 1 on the world album charts (31 weeks) and yes she has sold more than 10 million albums. The figure is now around 18 million. And yes illegal downloading is causing a major problem. Average album sales have declined over the past decades. Plus another trend is that more people are purchasing digital tracks. Hence the combined singles sales of 21 easily dwarfed those of The Body Guard. Stop being so negative and condescending to the other posters.
