Cute, but do Americans really think Canadians sound like that? That is a sorta kinda Newfie accent. I would be better if it was things Newfies say - and done it full on Newfie, eh?

  2. 2

It's like, where's the eastern Canada expression. I remember, like when I talk to the teenagers, its like, hesitation, then "like" then eh?

  3. 3

Okay so I got the have a good laugh as a proud Canadian at my own expense. It still baffles me though on how Americans perceive us. I live an hour from the border into new york and you would think that Americans would know something about there closest neighbor and yet every time I cross the border I amazed at the ignorance towards our country. My best friend in high school moved to Canada from Rochester NY only a 4 hour drive from my home town and she truly believed that she was going to have to move into an igloo and have penguins running around everywhere. She wasn't stupid it was just a complete lack of knowledge not only of our geography but our culture. I have nothing against a good laugh, and I will admit we love our Tim Hortons, but just because Maple Syrup is made here does not mean it is a staple in our diet we eat in on our pancakes and waffles and that is about it.

  4. 4

I'M SO FUCKING TIRED OF THESE GAY ASS SKITS!!!!!! You ruin everything with over exposure. And the use of "LOLz". That is the gayest thing ever…other than Glee!

  5. 5

ha i just got a double double from timmies.

    lmfao thats pretty funny.
except that fucking accent WTF haha I hope to god i dont talk like that….

& I do correct people when they say soda intead of pop lol.

  6. 6

Re: rosebud99 – I agree, a Newfie version would be the best! As a "mainlander" living in NL for the past decade I still get a good laugh at some of the sayings around here!

  7. 7

I thought "pop" was a midwestern/great lakes area thing.

But yeah, its totally pronounced "pop!" Who says soda?!

  8. 8

the guys that made this are Canadian btw.
What American would know that we say Double Double aha! They don't even understand that when we go to the States.

  9. 9

If this is about Canadians, why do they sound like they're from North Dakota? Also, as IF Mario even got a quarter of these jokes. Sheep.

  10. 10

@rosebudd99 Hi Im a Newfounlander, and number one we dont say "eh" thats the "mainlanders" aka alberta,BC ETC… Anyways Canadiens DO NOT sound like that. Its more ignorant than anything. Newfies say "Wadda ya at by" …Just had to clear that up.

    11

Ok…fiiiiirst of all Canadian's don't sound like fucking Fargo characters from North Dakota. Second of all, these videos need to fucking DIE! they're not funny, they're just annoying now. And if you're going to do a video, do it right - this is the most inaccurate portrayal of Canadian's I've ever seen. I love our American neighbours, but when idiots like this have a perception of us like this, I can't help but call these people ignorant retards who need to travel more and educated themselves on different cultures because this is just so out of hand.

  12. 12

If there ever was a Newfie verison of this it better be a Newfie and not some dumbass that Doesn't no what the F there talking about. Just sayin'

  13. 13

funny!! the accent is annoying but I bet they did it since people assume all Canadians speak like that. Good video tho!

  14. 14

    finally!! :)
    Just went to Timmies too!

But agreed, not all canadians talk like this… Still waiting on the "Shit French Canadians Say"

  15. 15

i'm canadien I i drink soda, I've never heard any of my friends say pop in my life.

  16. 16

just so you guys know, they are 100% canadian haha! this is supposed to be a joke. because no one is really like that here..

  17. 17

I'm a Canadian and I had a good laugh at this. I was a camp counselor in New York one summer and while I definitely don't speak with an accent, I was made fun of for always saying 'Sorry'. The only flaw with this video? A true Canadian would never ask for a dozen timbits… we all know they come in 10 packs and 20 packs (aka the 'snack' pack)! haha Also, it's a 2-4. Never heard of a 2-6. Otherwise, well done

  18. 18

Re: vanessamooney – Sorry eh, I'm from Alberta, but have some friends from Newfoundland.

  19. 19

Where are the CHEAP comments? Worst tippers ever! Eat at home then!

  20. 20

Instead of "Shit Canadians Say"' its should be "Shit a Newfie Says" …lol Good for a chuckle though.

  21. 21

ahahaha This should be Shit Americans think Canadians say…As a Canadian..I am offended.

    Re: msjackson85 – people from alberta call quarts 2-6's … it's odd

  23. mrobi says – reply to this

    23

I live in Nova Scotia, other than the accent all of these sayings are pretty accurate. Definitely had a good laugh.

  24. 24

OMG I LOVED THIS!! I'm Canadian and I thought it was really funny and true!
"SHOOT!!!!!" and "Im gonna head down to timmies, want anything"
BTW why are people offended? Take a joke!! and the guys who made this are canadians!! get over yourself

  25. 25

Re: Lady_Love – Why are you offended?? It's meant to be funny, not insulting. And the people who created this are Canadian. Im Canadian too and I thought it was funny and true! Learn to laugh and not to get so uptight about things. :|

  26. 26

Re: msjackson85 – It is a 2-4 of beer (2 dozen), and a 26'er of bacardi (as in a 26oz bottle which is now metric so about 750ml) or a 60 pounder - the big 1.5 litre bottles.

  27. 27

Omg I just bragged to my neighbour today that I bought my new snow shovel from Canadian Tire.

  28. 28

what do you mean youve never heard of a 2-6? its 26 ounces of hard liquor.

  29. @v@ says – reply to this

    29

Re: mrobi – A reference to 26 ouncers.

  30. 30

cant. stop. staring. at. his. teeth.

  31. 31

-20 with the windchill lol, I would LOVE if the majority of our winter days were that warm but they are more like -40 with the windchill. btw if he was really canadian he would be eating poutine!

  32. fid says – reply to this

    32

I'm Canadian and I can take a joke and don't find this offensive at all. The only thing that was offensive was that it wasn't very funny and went on for too long. There are a lot more funny videos out there that spoof Canadian culture.

But it's like on HIMYM, when Robin acts all Canadian, she starts talking like how very few Canadians speak. It's because it's for all North American audiences, and people find it funny to think we speak like that.

However, I do say "sorry" a lot.

  33. 33

Re: amItheonlyone – So before the HST came in, most of use would just add up the tax on the bill to calculate our tip (15%). After a few decades of doing this it becomes a habit. I almost got caught a couple of times in the states just adding up the tax. Your taxes are so low, you get a low tip usually by total mistake. Sorry you've had bad experiences!

  34. 34

I would LOVE to see a video of ”Shit french canadians says”. With a lot of ”Criss, Tabarnack, Osti de caliss”!!! Lol! :P

  35. 35

Lol this was pretty funny, but the accent was completely wrong! :P aha the pop thing was so true though :P and I hafta admit, while I don't pour maple syrup on everything I eat, my friends always yell at me for using waaaaay too much on my pancakes :P

  36. 36

It sounds more like the movie Fargo than anything else and that's in the US. The hockey stuff is TOTALLY TRUE along with the national anthem. We do that all the time. We say pass me a beer, not Molson, as no one drinks it here. I haven't had syrup in years. I always say sorry. All the time. Otherwise I can laugh at myself.

I'd love the see the Shit Americans Say.

  37. 37

My favorite Canadians are Julian, Ricky, and Bubbles….long live the Trailer Park Boys!!!!

  38. 38

Re: @v@ – I'm betting you've had a couple bouts of the 26 oz. flu, eh?

  39. 39

I'm Canadian and I hate Tim Hortons.

  40. 40

And Fluoride is poisonous, which is why we don't have it in our water system. Prolonged intake makes you stupid.

  41. 41

Re: mrobi – in 'Toba a 2-6 refers to a 26 ounce bottle of rye or what have you.

  42. 42

As a Canadian I could relate to about 5% of the content of this video. I didn't find it funny either. If anything I find it offensive because of how little is known about ALL of Canada (not just one province) and because the person in the video seems like a dimwit.

  43. 43

Molson isn't a specific type of beer, it's a whole company…you'd ask someone to pass you a Canadian or a Dry etc.

  44. 44

I am glad I am not the only one that thought it sounded like an outtake reel from Fargo -
But yes, it is pop, not soda.
My favourite? "I have to take a wicked piss"
That is from all of the double doubles.

  45. 45

    This isn't funny.

  46. 46

Re: mrobi – tee hee..Us in NS don't worry too much about the 2-6…the two fours are what count…lmao

  47. 47

Re: rosebud99Re: rosebud99 – Exactly. lols.. I was going to make this comment myself.

  48. 48

Re: vanessamooney – Actually, first off, i was born and raised in BC and now live in Alberta, and we are not "mainlanders", We have a coast just like Newfoundland as well, so don't try to make yourself sound better than us. Also, he does sound like a newfie in this video because we sure as hell don't speak and sound like that. You guys do sound like a bunch of idiots when you talk just like how this guy sounds in this video. Record your voice and compare! Maybe then you guys will realize just how retarded you guys sound. I know newfies that won't even talk like newfies because they know they sound ridiculous. For the record i live around a bunch of newfies and you guys do say eh all the time. So learn more about your fucking province, go hunt your moose, catch your fish, eat lobster and stay out of our god damn fucking province.

  49. 49

lol I live in Ottawa, Ontario and a few of the saying are spot on, BUT we don't have accents like that! we don't say Abooot in place of about unless we are newfie's lol Pretty funny though!

  50. 50

LOl love this but wheres the "get-er-done"

  51. 51

I'm from Eastern Canada, and This IS what people from the maritimes sound like ! haha

  52. @v@ says – reply to this

    52

Re: Phibes – Only once, and switched to the odd cold beer or tequila ever since. (Never, ever chase a beer with a shot of Southern Comfort. Ever.)

  53. 53

calm your hormones people. it doesnt sound like anyone form canada be it newfies or people from alberta BC whatever. this is just how america thinks we speak. so for the love of god stop getting mad at people from different provinces over these damn comments on perezhilton.

  54. 54

Re: msjackson85 – Thank you! I was so confused at what a 2-6 was? It's 2-4. I was funny, but at least get it right…

  55. 55

Re: rosebud99 – Sounds nothing like a Newfie accent! We'd call it a Mainlander accent actually, super different!

  56. 56

Moose, maple syrup, and hockey. 3 things I couldn't spend my canadian day without. not.

  57. 57

… Why does he have an Irish accent?

  58. 58

Re: WaldoRocks – Why so much Newfie hate? I have lived in both Newfoundland and Alberta and I can honestly say I have never heard anyone from either province (or any other part of Canada) speak like this. Do Newfoundlanders have an accent? Of course they do it just doesn't sound like this. Also mainlander is not a condescending term towards the rest of Canada and has nothing to do with having a coast. It is simply a term used to describe people who live on the mainland the same way that people who live on an island are known as islanders.

  59. 59

I have gotta say.. if you don't live in Toronto or Vancouver chances are you have some sort of accent… why everyone keeps saying this is clearly newfoundland's accent needs to stop assuming like the american's do. If you travel anywhere in the East (i'd know i'm from there) you will hear more of an accent.. even people in the prairie's have an accent.

As far as the 2-6? that's what people here in Toronto refer to as a "quart" of vodka. 26 ounces.. not referring to beer.
Mickey = pint of vodka (13 ounces)
    2-6 = quart
    60 ounces = a 66'er.

I can take a great laugh at this video because really other than the moose sightings (from my living area anyway) and the maple syrup obsession this is pretty accurate! OWN IT!! I love it!

the twoonie and loonie parts as well as apologizing for everything is completely spot on!
they did a GREAT job! I passed it along to my american friends (michigan, illinois and minnesota seem to be well educated it seems…) and they thought it was fabulous!
we can all have a great laugh and to be honest this is what i'm HOPING i portray to the Americans.. sweet, simple, kind, hockey and beer loving folk!

  60. 60

A lot of the sayings were spot on, but the accent was a miss. I am from Newfoundland and it didn't match any Newfie I have ever heard. It was like they tried to take all accents across Canada and mash it into one strange accent, lol.

  61. @v@ says – reply to this

    61

Re: lilo_canadiano – Baloney. Other major cities have no accents either.

  62. 62

A lot of it is pretty accurate, except for the exaggerated Bob and Doug Mackenzie accents, and the moose talk. No one in Canada speaks like that. That's America's and Hollywood's stereotypical perception.

  63. 63

I think what this showed is that Canadians can laugh at themselves, instead of getting all upset because they felt insulted, which has happened so many times with these videos when the subject is Hispanics, blacks, gays, etc. That's what makes the country unique. There's nothing insulting about this, anyone who thinks otherwise is way too sensitive.

  64. 64

Canadians are boss, and do not talk like that!! wtf Americans are dumb and obese.

  65. 65

I don't understand why people are commenting on other provinces when they clearly know nothing about them. I also don't understand why people are commenting on whether or not someone should be offended. People should be free to feel whatever they feel, to find this funny or not, to be offended or not, without anyone commenting or telling them what they should or shouldn't feel.

  66. 66

    It's a 2-4, not a 2-6!

  67. 67

lol I got a good kick out of this! A lot of the sayings are true. No one says soda around here; it IS pop. Still trying to teach my non-Canadian friends that. And -20 with the windchill….christ, I say that ALL the time…"with the windchill"…

The accent is definitely Newfie. And I really don't think we say "aboot"… :P

  68. 68

    Re: abodediva

In Ontario, we call it a 26'r…
