Good For Her!!! Ignorance and Bigotry Suck!!

  2. 2

It is a known fact that AIDS was brought into this country by a French gay man who just came from a vacation in Africa and spread throughout the bath houses in the 1970's with all the gay sex. This has been documented.

So he is somewhat accurate in his information.

  3. 3

Re: triple M – No he IS NOT a known fact. That is a myth about the gay Canadian (not French from France) flight attendant (not a pilot)–it was one theory about 20 years ago and has been proven to be untrue. BTW AIDS in this world is over 90% a heterosexual disease, close to 100% in Africa and Asia where the most people living with HIV are. You can't blame gays for making all the str8s in Africa and Asia HIV+. His statement, and yours, shows how a little bit of ignorance goes a long way.

  4. 4

Re: triple M – To say that he is somewhat accurate in his information would be a HUGE leap in logic. No one (and I mean NO ONE) knows where hiv started.. there are cases dating back to the 1950's in africa (and no they are not gay). People have been infected by eating bush meat (chimpanzee flesh) and lets not rule out heterosexual sex. It may be that the man you suspect as being patient zero may have contributed to the outbreak in gay men but that doesn't explain how he got it. Only paranoid bigots leap to rumors and internet gossip to explain a horrible pandemic that is afflicting millions of people world wide, So unless you know something even the experts don't keep quiet or you show your ignorance.

  5. 5

She's just as guilty of discrimination. She denied someone service because of their beliefs. Hypocritical, huh?

  6. 6

Re: AprilB – There's a difference between denying someone because you don't agree with their opinion and denying someone because of whom they are–who they were born as. You can always change your opinion.

  7. 7

Wow, so much for freedom of speech. I wonder what people would have said if he threw someone out of a restaurant because they loved gays? It's OK one way, but not the other. Liberals only think freedome of speech applies to them.

  8. 8

I bet a lot of her customers share a similar viewpoint as this guy, she just doesn't know it. Maybe she should ask every person their views before they are seated. And I bet she loses as many customers as she gains. She's clearly showing discrimination by blocking 1 person. I hope he sues her hillbilly ass off.

The bitch running the restaurant is an idiot

  10. 10

Re: Lady Who? – Ahhh, bless your little heart. I'm sure there are idiots just like him and I am sure they can leave too! What I'm even more sure of is that there are enough sane, rational, thinking people who are willing to take their places on principle alone. I hope he sues her too, that would spark a movement! but alas he won't. He doesn't want to make this a bigger Civil Rights protest than it is. He's embarrassed and he wants it to go away.

On another note, what was he even going there? Isn't this place ironically located on Gay St? :)

  11. 11

That guy is one very evil & sick MF!

  12. 12

of course you love it mr tolerance..i mean bully. force me to have a dude in a miniskirt welcoming my guests to a company i own, but sure you can refuse service to someone who is christian. sounds like a great country you want bully

  13. 13

Re: REPUB – hey your name says its ALL!

  14. 14

who votes for these crazy people? scary. he also said that it is virtually impossible to get aids through heterosexual sex. I wonder if the women around the world with hiv/aids would agree with his views about transmission being almost impossible. this guy is an idiot!

  15. 15

Re: REPUB – Republicans are all for freedom unless it's the freedom to do something they don't like. Republicans = Hypocrites.

  16. 16

Re: bobo99 – No one is BORN a Christian. It's forced on them by their parents. Get a grip. Should there be protection of people who believe Elvis is still alive, or UFOs, or the Easter bunny? The delusional should be given medical treatment, not tax breaks and special status.

  17. 17

Re: JennyJJJ – it's always nice to see you on this site defending the hateful and bigoted. no one is taking away his freedom of speech. obviously he has been free to spew his un-factual homophobic remarks but he shouldn't be surprised if people like martha boggs don't want him as a customer. who knows, maybe she has a gay child, brother, sister, mother or father. maybe she's gay herself. or maybe she's just a decent human being who believes that ALL tax paying, law abiding people deserve the same rights, unlike sen. campbell. and come on he wants to pass the "can't say gay" law. LOL!! that's got to be some sort of joke.

  18. 18

That poor ignorant man! Why on earth would he babble such nonsense. He makes Sarah Palin look like a Rhodes Scholar. Don't these babbling idiots have advisors to keep them from saying stupid stuff like this? You'd think anyone working for him would advise him to keep his yap shut.

  19. Uruha says – reply to this

Re: AttFinch – JennyJJJ is a psycho. She bitches about nonsense in every post possible. Thanks for calling her out! She's such a dumbass she'll probably get AIDS from Senator Campbell.

  20. 20

He seems like such a boring person.

  21. Uruha says – reply to this

Re: Lady Who? – Every time you post, it causes the world brain damage. There's difference as fat as your ass between a publicly elected government official and someone who owns a private business. Are you really this idiotic?

  22. 22

Just adding this, everything he basically stated was an assumption:

"Most people realize that AIDS came from the homosexual community" - Assumption, no 100% and I mean 100% without a doubt, facts state that homosexuals contracted AIDS first.
"it was one guy screwing a monkey, IF I RECALL CORRECTLY, and then having sex with men" - he even said the words, recall correctly… pure assumption once again. No facts to back up his statement, just a hunch.
"It was an airline pilot, if I recall." - Read the statement above this. Same thing, he even says recall again.

  23. 23

"What's the average lifespan of a homosexual? it's very short. Google it yourself." - What does sexual orientation have to do with your lifespan ? Sure, homosexuals may contract aids with unprotected/risky sex, but so can straight people. You have just as much chance of being diagnosed with cancer as somebody else. Does being straight prevent cancer in any form of scientific way? No. So please, do not tell me to google false information. You have no sources once again, and even if you did, I highly doubt they are valid. Any grade 10 student taking basic health science can tell you that!
""Homosexuals represent about 2 to 3 percent of the population yet you look at television and plays and theaters, it's 50 percent of the theaters, probably more than that, 50 percent of the theaters based on something about homosexuality." - Did you know that most statistics are made up? Congratulations for grabbing falsified numbers out of your ass to try to sound like you have a point. God I hate ignorance and lack of education, it honestly hinders the growth of society. I also would like to point out sexual orientation does not show in any way how productive you are towards a job. There isn't a GAY WAY to do things, as there isn't a STRAIGHT WAY to do things.

  24. 24

Well fatass, hope you get kicked out of a restaurant. Your agenda is just as bad as his.

  25. 25

yes he took it to a ridiculous level and showed how truelly uneducated and stupid he is how these people make it in politics i dont know unless people vote purely based on hatred of others..

disliking gay people is one thing but being so stupid is another how does someone so stupid get to be a senator thats insane..

  26. FS says – reply to this

His name is Stacey Campfield……get it right. and he's an ass.

  27. 27

Lived in Knoxville and ate at the Bistro. Its a nice restaurant with good food. Knoxville is a college town, surprised he would actually think people there would support him & his hate. Dumb arse. Defiantly eating at the Bistro when I go to visit my friends & family!

  28. 28

    Re: AprilB
Private buisnesses have the right to reject patrons from their establishment if they want (with the exception of minorities, after civil rights movement). She could reject anyone for anything, its her business.

  29. 29

I understand why this appears to be a step in the right direction, but it actually is not. This is a prime example of someone adhering to the mantra, "Two wrongs make a right." That saying actually goes, "Two wrong DON'T make a right." As a gay man, I am impressed by her courage to deny him service. I know that is not easy to do. However, the right thing to do, would have been to serve him respectfully, and show him how to treat people. Remember, Gandhi said, "Be the change you wish to see in the world." Be the example. By refusing him service, all she did was prove she is no better than he is. And that is certainly not true, because her heart was definitely in the right place. If we aren't solving the problem, we are only feeding it. Just love.

  30. 30

Um, okay, so Stacey Campbell presented his information on HIV/AIDS in a very irresponsible manner. Second, Stacey is in charge of the Don't Say Gay Bill, which would be incredibly harmful to students. If you don't understand it, it basically states that homosexuality should not be discussed in the schools. Right, so most people are like "I don't want my baby learnin' about no gays." Wrong. It would prevent lgbt students from going to their counselors or teachers and talking to them regarding anything from bullying, coming out, and any gay-str8 alliance. Bottom line, you could say two wrongs don't make a right, however, when a fucking senator comes out presenting ass-backwards information and citing from Wikipedia, he doesn't deserve Ms. Boggs soup.

  31. 31

Funny…How the First amendment and free speech only apply when they support your beliefs, and your beliefs alone. Do I agree with what this guys says? No. But that does not mean he does not have a right to be a moron & say what he wants. What happened here? Discrimination, plain and simple. AND against the law. Remember this little post the next time a B&B owner decides not to rent a room due to someone who conflicts with their beliefs…Exact same thing, guy. Though I doubt you would ever be big enough to admit it, nor open enough to see it that way. You know there is a word for that: Hypocrite.

  32. 32

yayyyyy! I'm from knoxville! I would def eat there the next chance I get. this lady deserves an award!

  33. 33

Re: JennyJJJ – Lulz. stupid homophobic people such as you are so annoying.

  34. 34

To all the right wing morons bitching about him having a right to free speech, if he has the right to talk all that stupid shit then she has the right to deny him entrance into HER restaraunt. its HER restaraunt, her choice. if you don;t like it go cry in the corner with him, just make sure there are no "nasty homos" in the corner with you, dumbass bigots. ew.

  35. 35

Blatant discrimination. Equality for all! Oops, not for everyone.

  36. 36

    Good for her!

  37. 37

Oh my god. Typical ignorant Republican. Jesus, get your facts straight you idiot!

  38. 38

Good for her! This resteraunt's name is officially now downloaded into my brain's long-term memory.

If it's even spelled correctly, that is. Seriously, whomever you are writing this article, could you maybe try to practice proper grammar and maybe spell out things like the word "you"? Ignorant bigots may be attempting to destroy our love and peace, but there's no reason for ignorant gossip-mongers with a web page to destroy our language as well. Seriously. Take a damned English composition course. I almost couldn't finish this short article. Call me crazy, but I've come to expect a bit more from the people attempting to acquire any sort of power.

  39. 39

This is a GREAT example of how these situations should be handled. Senator Campbell has every right to his close-minded and incorrect beliefs, and has every right to say what they are. That's freedom of speech. And the restaurant, as a privately owned establishment, has every right to deny him service.

Regardless of which "side" you're on in this argument, this is a great example of freedom at work.

Hey, even this guy is learning as he goes…just saying, and for every action there is a reaction. Speak with your pocketbooks.

  41. mizzb says – reply to this

Question: if you support or defend this senator or at least feel he is entitled to any right to spew hatred, why on earth are you on THIS website? Go hit up Glen Beck or some other right-winger who shares your convoluted views.

  42. 42

Freedom of speech is one thing. Stupidity is another. There's far more than 2% of people who're gay/bi. It's just a lot of people do not come out openly for fear of its stigma. HIV ran rampant in Africa. The reason most people saw it as a homosexual disease is cause without marriage it became common practice for homosexuals to find some secret places to…do their things, which does mean a lot of less safer methods. Since then, heterosexuals have skyrocketed in the rate in which they'd get AIDs, considering the lifestyle of unprotected sex started to become more well practiced. There is SOME validity to the lifespan of gay people. You do RUN the risk of anal cancer, but it isn't like women run the risk of vaginal cancer either. Gay bashing would be the other.
The woman does have the right not to serve anyone she wants. She just runs the risks of losing the business of like minded people, but seeing how she didn't want to serve him, do you think she'd care to serve anyone else?
For those who say it's hypocritical. It's not. He's refusing to play politics for the rights of gay people, she's refusing the right to serve people of his mindset. It's actually pretty even if you think about it. It would be hypocritical if she said he had to give gays their rights and start loving them and THEN refuse to serve him.
