Well, this is certainly better news than a Jack and Jill sequel! LOLz!
To recap - Back in May, we had heard that the Candy Land movie was still happening, and it was being referred to as "Lord of the Rings, but set in a world of candy."
Then in October, Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner assured the world that Candy Land would eventually see the light of the day.
Now, we've learned that Adam Sandler is officially attached to star in the board game flick!
Here's what Columbia Pictures president Doug Belgrad had to say about it:
"Candy Land is more than just a game. It is a brand that children, parents and grandparents know and love. The world of Candy Land offers an extraordinary canvas upon which to create a fantastical, live-action family adventure film with a larger than life part for Adam. We are thrilled to partner with Hasbro and Happy Madison on this project."
And more from Hasbro's Brian Goldner:
"The creative talent on board for this movie is amazing and we are excited to bring alive the world of Candy Land for kids and families everywhere. Sony/Columbia has been a wonderful creative partner as we develop another of our games, Risk, for the big screen. We are looking forward to working with Sony/Columbia and Adam Sandler and his team at Happy Madison Productions on this film."
If done correctly, this could be VERY cool. Put on UR game face, Adam Sandler! Our childhood memories are counting on U!
