Katy Perry Lands A SIXTH #1 Hit On Billboard's Pop Songs Chart!!!

| Filed under: Music MinuteMichael JacksonKaty PerryPerezTVBusiness Blitz

Katy Perry's Teenage Dream is Teenage Cream-ing the competition!

Last week, we learned about Katy's plans to re-release her hit album in a new set that is being referred to as The Complete Confection!

We were thinking that this move was probably an attempt by Ms. Perry to get her latest single The One That Got Away (above) to reach the #1 spot on the charts, which would be her SIXTH number one hit from Teenage Dream!

Now, it's looking like she's already partially accomplished that goal, because her new single has reached the #1 spot on Billboard's Pop Songs Chart!

This makes Katy the third artist ever to release six #1 hits from a single album on the chart!

Should be interesting to see if Katy is next able to reach #1 on the Hot 100 chart for the sixth time, which would dethrone Michael Jackson's record!

Congratulations, Katy! Can't wait to check out those new tracks on Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection!

P.S. CLICK HERE to check out the impressive promo music video for The Sims 3: Showtime - Katy Perry Collector's Edition, which features her #1 single The One That Got Away!

needs to be number 1 on the hot 100 for it to REALLY count. hot 100 is the main singles charts.

  2. 2

I can't believe artists are now able to re-release albums and people eat them up all over again. it's stupid.

  3. 3

uhh ok, good for her I guess, but who else releases 6 singles off an album? And she had to re-release her album to get it

  4. 4

Re: NotHatingJustStating – I agree…not a fan of the re-releases to just churn out more of a profit. Plus she's rereleasing it with songs that didn't make the cut for the original album? There's a reason they didn't make the cut! Lame.

oh BFD, this chick is pop fluff and nothing more…every crappy singer has hits these days.

Katy Perry is nothing compared to Michael Jackson. They shouldn't be in the same category. It's easier now to just download one song than it was back then.

Hit after hit after hit, not a big Katy fan, but this is what a album of the decade should do,
Not flop after flop after flop

Russell is better off witout that b***** who cares only about her career, money and fame. I hope he gets back with Teresa Palmer or Laura Gallacher! They were perfect together!

Katy's last album was good because she was inspired by her relationship with Russell. For example "Firework" lyrics was Russell's idea. I don't think she would ever have success.

Re: doooooler – She's just different from Jackson. She doesn't claim that, either. I don't think the broader demographic identifies with rap, so there doesn't seem to be much out there right now. (that's being promoted mainstream.) I think Katy's story telling Teenage Dream has managed to tap into a secret personal narrative for a broad group of people, probably mostly girls and women, hence its successful sales figures. I'm not much for pop, but I saw what she was trying to do, and she and her team did it.

I think Katy would be the PERFECT person to do a bio pic movie about Grace Slick! Same eyes and she could totally pull off the voice.

  12. 12

wow - never underestimate the musical taste of teenage girls or perez hilton …

  13. 13

WHO CARESSSSSSSS…….. SHE WONT DO IT. THAT CRAPPY SINGLE HAS DROPPED TO #37 ON ITUNES SINGLES CHART. DEFINITELY WONT MAKE 6 CONSECUTIVE SINGLES AND SURE AS HELL WONT GET 7 CONSECUTIVE SINGLES. WE KNOW WHO HOLDS THAT RECORD. WHEN MUSIC AND SANGING REALLY COUNTED NOT LIKE ALL THIS AUTO-TUNED ELECTRO-POPTART PUTER MADE CRAP WE HAVE TODAY…. MJ SHE DEF. IS NOT!! NEXT.

Re: KaiaKendie – Wow, she WOULD make a great Grace Slick. Grace's memoire/book (Somebody To Love) was an eye-opening read that I just couldn't put down. She, and her life were totally different than my preconceived perceptions, too.

She won't get that Hot 100 #1 until the rerelease. The One That Got Away has tumbled down iTunes Top 100 since the price rose again. Capitol knows it couldn't get to #1 with that $0.69 price tag, like Last Friday Night, then they need to move on to another song.

  16. 16

good for her, she's amazing!!!! and beautiful!

  17. 17

Good on her, but its very easy these days to click on a song on itunes and download it, its a completely different ball game now compared to 1987 when jacko did it, digital sales are alot easier to achieve than physical sales, which was all that was around in the late 80's… so good on her for selling but theres no way she would have done it if no digital

  18. 18

wtf?>? she better not hit #1 this song SUCKS she does not deserve to dethrone MJ!!! She's cheated her way up with all of these remixes

  19. 19

but it doesn't count unless it's hot 100. poor katy.

  20. 20

haha, wtf this whooore is nuts, why cant she accept the fact that she sucks and cant broke any records even with her thousand releases of the same single lol, its like her life is dependent on that stupid album, get a life whooore
