Washington State Senate Passes Bill To Legalize Same-Sex Marriage!

| Filed under: Gay Gay GayPolitikLGBT

YES!!!! Our hearts are filled with so much joy!!! Another step closer to equality for all!!!

Last night, in a packed public gallery, the Washington state Senate passed a bill to legalize same-sex marriage! Should the bill be approved by the house, Washington will be the seventh state of the union to allow gay and lesbian couples to get married.

An uproar of applause erupted in the gallery as the Senate passed the measure on a 28-21 vote. What was AMAZING was that four Republicans crossed party lines and voted with majority Democrats to get the bill passed. See! They're all not that bad! LOL! (We kid, we kid.)

Now, all eyes are on the House, which is expected to approve it and could take action on it as early as next week.

We're overwhelmed with joy! Such a wonderful moment for the gay community of Washington. They should feel very proud to live in a place where their voices are as equally heard as the rest of their fellow citizens. And a HUGE congratulations to the Senators who voted for the passing of this bill, putting equality above any personal pledges.

    yay Washington!

The destruction of all that is good and right in the world continues to be destroyed by acts such as this. The world will be soon taken over by more swishy Mario's…and they call this progress?????

  6. 6

We should all be proud to be Americans today. Way to go, Washington!

Re: Lincoln1 – Can you explain to me how this 'destroys all that is good and right in the world'? If you truly believe that your 'god' is angered by two people coming together in love because of the way he made them then I feel sorry for you.

Can someone explain to me how defiling the constitution of marriage is viewed as progress? Marriage is between man and women…..period. That is why there are legal partnerships. They should have corrected the flaws in the legal partnerships so the LGBT spouses have the same rights as other spouses (ex. shared health insurance, deceased benefits, etc.) instead of destroying ones beliefs for anothers. Sickening……

    Re: saracat1 – yea?
before this, marriage is between the same race, period.
and now look at all these interracial couple.

Re: saracat1 – How does this destroy someone's beliefs? Is your faith that weak?

  13. 13

Re: saracat1 – I'll bet your faith is strong enough to survive this. You people used to say marriage between a white person and a black person was wrong, too. And before you tell me you're not racist (though I wouldn't be surprised…) wouldn't you be willing to bet that if you had lived 50 years ago you'd be against interracial marriage, too? Think about that honestly. f you think same sex marriage is a threat to your marriage then I think it's time you examined your own instead of trying to lessen mine.

You must have a pretty nice life if the fact that two people in love can now get married upsets you. Marriage is not a religious bond in the eyes of the united states government, nor should it be. Jews and Atheists can get married, for god's sake. I think you should be less concerned about what someone has between their legs and more concerned about why two people coming together in love because of the way god made them disgusts you. Same sex marriage is well on its way to this country, and whether or not you're on the right side of history is up to you.

Marriage is NOT a Right it is a PRIVILEGE

Re: REPUB – Who in the world has the authority to say that?

Re: joethehobo – The constitution, but that doesn't make it right either. Let the GLBT get married: they have all the right to lead miserable lives just like straight people!
