| Filed under: Music MinuteX FactorMelanie Amaro

What an amazing moment this is going to be for our girl, Melanie Amaro. She rose to the occasion on The X Factor and won the glory of being their first star, and now she has her first single out, appropriately a cover of Respect!

Have a listen to the track in the video (above) and make sure you listen for it again when it debuts on TV Sunday … during her Pepsi Super Bowl commercial!!!

Enjoy that spotlight girl!!!

    Who?? And who cares???

Otis is rolling in his grave….

This is absolutely awful. She can sing, but my problem with her was I never felt that her emotion was connected to her voice. Plus this track is just a terrible injustice to an amazing classic.

God this is awful. I am not one of those who hate covers either and are only dedicated to the originals. This is truly awful. She seems so off key and she is over singing . Is Simon guiding her career? He should remove himself if he is advising her to do music like this.

Awful and disrespectful. How does a dink like this get exposure? Try LP, Into the Wild. Citi ad. Bad bank. Good song.

Wtf? Aretha mixed with Chris Brown? Truly is nothing original anymore. Am sure she wasn't expected to rehash something great with something crap into something atrocious. Poor girl.

The first thing they put out is a cover song?? That's pretty sad. Plus why remake an Aretha song? No one will top the original. This was a stupid move.

She has a great voice, but this song is awful. It sounds like a remix of the song from the early 00's, rather than a remake. I thought it was quite obvious that this girl should be marketed as a balladeer.

It sounds like any other club song I hear every time I go to the club.

I don't recall hearing anything in my life I instantly hated as much as this drivel. I think I did hear her sing before but this is not singing to me. Could pass for completely computerized noise.

Wow!! This is very disappointing. I was hoping for much better than this after all the hype. She is NOT staying true to her genre at all. Even when it was rock/dance/70's week, she did nothing as fast as this song. Too bad, because Melanie can sing..this sounds horrible!

  12. 12

well thats a very old backing track! Show me love and a million other dance records were using it like 15 years ago!

and the song is sooo obvious. Too obvious. wheres her individuality? karaoke dance dross.

  13. 13

TERRIBLE CHOICE!! peeps need to let ORIGINAL MUSIC BE… disappointing..

  14. 14

gross!! yuk!!!………josh waz fucking robbed !!

Everyone needs to quit hating on her. She has an AMAZING voice! If Mariah sang this sone (and she's done re-makes before) everyone would be raving about it. Otis would be proud someone jazzed it up and made it hip and fun. How can people say she has no emotion? JOSH AND CHRIS RENE LOST..GET OVER IT AND GROW UP. Melanie Amaro is a star and I'm happy for her. She deserved to win because she was the best on the show. MOVE ON PEOPLE!

Still don't get why Simon loved this girl so much

Melanie deserves much better than this! Surely Simon and the crew could have come up with something original like they do for the American Idol winners. X-Factor have failed Melanie horribly.
