Lana Del Rey Tour Cancelled!
It hasn't exactly been smooth sailing for Lana Del Rey!
After her underwhelming performance on Saturday Night Live, critics everywhere raised some brows and started talking… and it wasn't pretty.
Then the internet went ablaze regarding her character. While other pop stars have changed their names or elaborated on their personal self for the sake of pop, many were questioning whether Lizzy Grant (her real name) created Lana or if it was solely the work of her marketing team.
So to distance herself from the backlash effects of her SNL performance, her management thinks it's best to cancel her tour and give her time to rejuvenate everything.
She was very upset. They figure it allows time for her to clear her head, then go back to selling tickets. More importantly, they figure, the extra time gives them more distance from SNL.
Interscope had nothing to do with booking or postponing a tour. Jimmy Iovine is excited and thankful that Lana is performing at a Grammy event in his honor this week.
Another reason to postpone the tour?? They think if she underwhelms again, it could greatly hinder album sales and they'd rather not risk it!!

I love Lana, but distancing herself from the SNL debacle for a few months is probably for the best. This will be to her benefit—hopefully she can work up a bit more confidence.

I don't care if she came up with the name, or if a 98 year old chipmunk did. If the tickets were cheap, and she was nearby, I would go. I like voice.
What prevents me from wanting to go is that performance! If that's what a tour with her is like..then…..ehh. No movement!
She's horrible anyway. Just like all the pop artists, they are studio creations, then when they try to sing live, this is what you get. And the name change is because she came from a very priveleged upbringing and her "people" didn't want to turn off the masses with a rich girl trying to sell albums.
It sounds like Lizzie / Lana's PR machine misfired. Madonna's tour starts May 29th and that's all that matters to me.
She looks just like the older sister of Molly Ringwald in the movie 16 Candles.

i don't think she was horrible, I mean it's not Ashley Simpsons SNL performance or anything. I think what happened here is a wannabe got frightened by the scope of performing on the Saturday Night Live Stage. I mean, fake name, fake style, and fake english accent for this song…She knew we'd see right through it and her confidence couldn't carry her voice.
I've never even heard of this person.

Ugh people are cruel. I'd love Lana and her music even if her name was Lil Bo Peep. She is unique but since she's not cookie cutter people shut her down. I know there are pop singers out there who can't sing for shit and rely completely on autotune and people can't get enough. I also believe SNL didn't have to have Kristen Wiig imitate her a few weeks later during the Channing Tatum episode.

I don't get why people are so obsessed with her real name. Her fisrt album was called "Lizzie Grant a.k.a Lana Del Rey" The name was there, so what's the big deal? lolz Her SNL performance was bad it's a fact, but she'll have time to show her talent. Anyway, i'm still waiting Perez to post her performance on Letterman not only every bad news about her

I heard the controversy, & now I've heard the performance. Wish I could go back. That was as painful as listening to Katy Perry "sing" live. It's not ONLY downloading that's destroying the music industry!

This story is COMPLETELY false!!! She's in LA this very moment getting ready to perform at Amoeba Records. She herself has said that there will be no tour until the Fall. Get your facts straight before you start spreading hateful lies. You're the biggest bully of them all, Perez. Once a bully, ALWAYS a bully.
Also, you can find loads of videos of Lana performing live, and she is GREAT!
There is absolutely nothing wrong with this performance. SNL isn't the place to showcase an artist like her; her style is soulful and mellow, not a Rihanna performance with lots of tits, booty shaking and lip-synching. She looked beautiful and her vocals were lovely although not utterly perfect - no live performance is. Anyone ever heard of AUTOTUNE? That's why people sound perfect. That's not real life and for a RL performance, this was great. Go back to your garbage Top 40 nonsense, haters.
Re: SpookyCupcake – Prior to autotune and those who use it, singers used to be required to master their craft enough to get through a live performance before they were ever given a platform like SNL. Sure, she may not be the only one, but there's no denying it……that "performance" sucked!
