Jodie Foster Is Sending Her Beaver To Every Member Of The Academy!

jodie foster sending her beaver to every academy member

Sorry about that, but we HAD to go for that obvious joke! Ha!

Even though it didn't get nominated for any Oscars, we've just learned that Jodie Foster has sent DVD screeners of her Mel Gibson-starring movie The Beaver to EVERY member of the Academy!

Here's what Jodie writes about it in a letter that will accompany the DVDs:

"It is unusual to get a screener after the Oscar nominations have been announced, as the final chapter of award season is nearing, when nearly all of this year’s movies have been viewed and assessed. That is because this screener of The Beaver is not For Your Consideration. It is simply for your enjoyment."

"The Beaver is an unusual film, to say the least, with a voice and tone unlike any other. Mel Gibson’s performance is undeniably deep and raw. I am so proud of the work we did together."

It gets weirder, though. Jodie will actually be sending the "commercial consumer version" of the DVD, which is usually forbidden by the Academy. She probably got special permission to do this because the movie is not eligible for any awards at this time.

We're still not 100% sure what to make of this, but we suppose it'll give Jodie and Mel more newfound credibility with Academy members…if they like the movie that is.

What do U think? Would U watch The Beaver if U were given a free copy???

i have watched it i paid 7 bucs to watch it..i must say its not the kind of movie that i would send anywhere let alone to the academy but it was worth a watch .. i think the whole concept of a talking puppet kind of puts people off but it was ok..id give it a 6/10 and i watch alot of movies.. i also watched recently the 'whats your number" and i liked that better than bridesmaids dredging thru all ur old exs kind of hilarious really …

She probably sent this to tell them, you made a mistake in not nominating this movie, otherwise, that is the point of this? The critics didn't love it, it got mixed reviews even from the likes of Roger Ebert and the film wasn't commercially successful, so I really don't understand why she would send them a DVD version of it now.

she should also send they academy the carnage dvd and write a letter of how much she got her ass kicked by kate winslet in the acting department.

It's a very good movie. Not anything at all what people would expect by seeing the movie poster.

I really appreciated what Jodie Foster did here. Forgiveness is essential to forward momentum. We thrive as ourselves at peak efficiency when we understand the necessity of release. Why can't we move forward? Why can't we release? Why do we need someone to hate and pity?

Good for Jodie. It's a pretty extraordinary movie, imo, but you'd never know it.
