This is creepy because I seriously just finished watching Mansfield Park… And here he is again.

  2. 2

This is odd….he played dual roles in Royal National Theatre production of 'Frankenstein' with Benedict Cumberbatch last year, and this show is a direct ripoff of BBC's 'Sherlock' starring Benedict in the title role….I feel weird about the whole situation…

Yeah wonderstruck, I was just going to say…I already now how Sherlock Holmes is in the 21st century. It's called "Sherlock," and the second season just aired last month in the UK!

This is just a copy of the bbc version! Why can't American channels air British programs? I always have to watch them on the internet or buy the dvds it soo annoying!! The remakes are never as good….plus Sherlock Holmes in NY just doesn't make sense all the books are centered around England/London

Why why why do we need another Sherlock remake? The BBC have already done this and done it brilliantly. We have the Guy Ritchie movies. Do we need a 3rd Sherlock, the second to be done in the modern era? It just seems like an American producer went "It worked in the UK, we can make our own version…..and set it in America!". It also seems like they went to Frankenstien and said "We can't have Benedict, lets have Johnny". American versions of British tv shows are never good. This is weird and wrong!

Don't get me wrong…I like Jonny Lee Miller, but this is horrible. If they want Sherlock Holmes, they should just pay the BBC for the rights to show their "Sherlock". It's brilliant, and NO ONE will be able to do it as well. Benedict Cumberbatch is PERFECTION as Sherlock. CBS seriously needs to just leave this one alone.

Why CBS is trying to improve perfection is beyond me. They are not going to surpass Benedict Cumberbatch or Martin Freeman. And shame on you Perez for not featuring more of these two wonderful actors. Less Snookie and Kim and more Benedict and Martin!

I created an account on this site just to say I think this is dreadful news, and I'm astonished that Jonny Lee Miller (love him in everything he's done) would agree to this role. I thought he and Benedict were good friends…seems a betrayal but I'm guessing we don't know the whole story. It also makes Frankenstein (where they swapped roles every other night) a little weird in retrospect.

For those who haven't seen season two of Sherlock yet, it will air in May on PBS, and will probably show up on Amazon video and Netflix around that time. All three episodes top "The Great Game" from season one. The fact that CBS is touching this idea at all is utter sacrilege. Give some original writers/stories a chance, there certainly plenty of them out their vying for attention. Totally shameless.

I have a feeling this is going to be a big disaster. I agree with everyone that said that the U.S should show British shows instead of trying to copy them. Sherlock is an amazing show and Benedict is such a talented actor and does a great Sherlock. There wont be any competition.

OH dear Jonny…..I miss your last US adventure ELI STONE, which I found very amusing, but
Benedict owns this character. Money isn't everything. ……

  11. 11

We already know what it would be like. It's called Sherlock, and it's on BBC. Why do channels here in the US have to take brilliant Brit TV ideas and basically shit all over them?

  12. 12

This is bizarre and awful on so many levels. Number 1, why would they have a British actor (I'm not hating, I'm sure he's great) play the American version of a British character?? It makes absolutely no sense. And why someone so closely connected to Benedict Cumberbatch, who is seriously the best incarnation of Sherlock Holmes, like, EVER. Just why. But first and foremost, WHY ARE THEY EVEN MAKING THIS SHOW?? Everyone who's interested in this can just go watch Sherlock! There's no way anything else can even come close to it's greatness…

so CBS justifies this rip off of the great BBC sherlock program because americans need more sex, more guns, and subtitles? oh wait never mind, they can't read so it would have to be dubbed "american"…
