Nicki Minaj Doesn't Get The Fuss Over Her Roman Holiday Exorcism Performance!

| Filed under: Music MinuteFilm FlickersNicki MinajGrammys

Whether or not she had intended to make a statement, there's no denying that Nicki Minaj's Roman Holiday performance - and subsequent exorcism - at the Grammys definitely raised some eyebrows!

But according to the rapper, she doesn't get the big deal - as the whole spectacle is just a preview of a movie on which she's written for her alter-ego!

She explains:

"I don't know what is the big issue? You know how people write plays and movies? That's what I did. I wrote that and I gave the world a tiny little preview of what was to come. And so I have to perform it on the set in which it would be in the movie, right?"

Oh man! If that's just a PREVIEW of the set, then we can't even begin to imagine what else she has in store for us with…well, whatever is coming!

But so long as there's more Roman on the way, and more of those incredible theatrics, consider us pumped!

    Why would she?

People can do weird right and the people like it. This performance wasn't weird in a good way it was a "i'm gonna copy Lady Gaga and (ugh hate to say it) Madonna act"…with the religious images. If she's going to redo the religion thing she needs to do something different. I can think a million ways to piss off the church in much more clever ways.

I hate this stupid fucking alter ego shit. It's so childish. If you don't like being yourself, change yourself, don't invent some stupid fucking alter ego. What a joke, grow the fuck up.

  4. 4

Lame, gimicky and over done……oh wait….JUST LIKE HER!!!

  5. 5

All for shock value, A pathetic attempt I might add, to make up for a lack of talent

  6. 6

She reminds me of you blaming your hatred on your alter-ego. Whoever she is, she still sucks.

Who cares that Madonna, the Wayne Brothers, or Lady Gaga have all done this before. I'm not offended about the observation on Catholicism, I'm just offended that this was done at the Grammys with very little detail to the songs. It was lame. What's next? Rappers lip synching on live tv because they're promoting a bigger gimmick?

I don't think anyone has been talking about it because they were offended by it, people have been talking about it because it was an absolutely terrible "performance".

"You know how people write plays and movies? That's what I did." - Spoken like a truly uneducated twit. Did she really say that? Jesus. "You know how people like, write songs and stuff? Well, like, that's also what I kinda do. My name is Nicki, and I'm in 4th grade". This is the mentality of most "artists" (I actually threw up) today. They honestly, truly have no talent. But it's not their fault. It's the people that buy her crap. They should be ashamed of themselves for making this fool remotely mentioned. Really? Then again, people can't BLAME them either, because their fucking IQ is barely pushing 75. Welcome to America. Home of the mentally challenged.

Nice Ben & Jerry's ad, previous comments off post. If you start doing that too often, I might be outta here.

Re: hoochpit – Alter ego duck and cover; after all, SHE didn't present a Satanic exorcism song, her alter ego did.

If that was the preview, I'd hate to sit through the torture of what her little "movie" would be like.

  13. 13

I wasn't offended, I was embarrassed for her. She should just admit that she sucked so we can all try to forget about it.

I was SOOOO embarrased for her! it was soo awful

Nicki Minaj's appeal still fascinates me.

It's like she feels she needs to push boundaries. Last year was a great year for her cause she did what she was good at.

She can't pull of this performance artist shit like Gaga can. Walking down with a pope at the Grammys was her equivalent to Gaga's egg/vessel Grammy moment except Nicki's 'statement' was so obvious and unoriginal. Getting exorcised on stage reminded me of Gaga dying on stage at the VMAs

I cringed throughout her whole performance, I'm so glad the crowd didn't give her a standing ovation (which they did to almost every other performance)

YA'LL NEED TO GIVE UP ON THE HATE!!! Nicki is breaking down barriers! What she's DOING no rap chick has DONE BEFORE EVER!!!! They all did that hood rat bullshit, Nicki is proving RAP ISN'T STREET ONLY!!!!

  19. 19

It wasn't the Catholic stuff that offended me..(I did think it was LAME as hell) it was her SHITTY SONG…………….ALSO STOP LYING NICKI she knew damn well the church would be pissed off..SHE WAS HOPING THEY WOULD BE so she could get attention from it.

I don't mind Nicki Minaj, I can take her or leave her. But even God knows that she did this for "shock value" and it wasn't shocking it was just plain stuuuupid!

  21. 21

It was a big deal because it was a stupid spectacle. Bizarre in a horrible way.

  22. 22

What I don't get is why the producers of the Grammy's thought her act was appropriate for the Grammy's? I remember previous shows being a bit more classy in the selection of acts to perform. Also they used to have a broader range of genres and artists perform. I think the high ratings were because people tuned in to see Whitney tributes. And what the heck was the "dance music" segment? There were so many good top 10 dance hits to choose from this year and they picked the ones they did which I thought were not the best. I also think Chris Brown performing twice was a bit much. Same with the Foo Fighters. If Chris and Foo F had only done 1 song each some of the many other great artists this year could have had a chance to perform on the Grammy's.

  23. 23

There is one reason as to why she did it that comes to mind, and it's a disturbing one.

  24. 24

I'm sorry but she needs to watch her "performance" over again because it was just terrible. Does she really think that it was good? I'm not offended because it was religious, it was just ridiculous. Why on earth would the Grammys even ask her to perform? I'm sorry, but she's getting too much for me. She actually thinks that she gave a great performance. It was just tacky.

  25. 25

Don't even see what was 'offensive' about it. Being offended doesn't mean you're right. So you're offended? And, so what? Deal with it, get over it, move on.
