In their 10pm slot, they went down 10% from the previous week, earning themselves a 2.3 score.

The week before, they went down a whopping 26%!!!

We wonder how Katharine McPhee feels about this!! She might need a new job soon!!

Here's the thing about SMASH, and I speak as a theatre person myself. It's too much insider baseball. We are supposed to care about these characters in this world that unless you are a part of it, it seems somewhat flimsy. (This is why cop shows, crime procedurals, and hospital shows do so well–high stakes drama.) AND unlike Glee, the show is super earnest. Have you ever laughed during Smash? Have you even smiled??? To just appreciate it because I'm watching good storytelling and talented performers doesn't feel that rewarding at all. Where will I feel my catharsis?? I think the cast is talented, but the show needs to lighten up and figure out how to do more fun numbers outside of the Marilyn show. Actually, it probably won't last. Which character do you even root for?

Well, the world only has enough homo's to support 1 singing talent contest, and 1 t.v. show. The voice is crushing american idol, the gays have spoken, and Glee is killing Smash, again, spoken. Let's move on.

EXACTLY BertieLover! I too am a Broadway Theater nut and make multiple trips a year to NYC to see my fave stars. I even have plans to see Christian Borle (Tom) in the next couple months in Peter and the Star Catchers. While I pay big money to fly into NYC to see these exact people on a stage, they are boring me to tears on my TV screen each week. This Marilyn is blah… and they are delving into too many of these peoples relationships and making them thin and meaningless. They would have been better off building Tom's relationships with Debra and Ivy, but then there are the families and friends from other shows and then we have this assistant and going into his life. They would have been better off sticking with 4-5 core characters and their relationships with each other and peppered in the rest like Glee did the first season. Yes… now they have numerous extra characters, but the core was built upon, which Smash did not and it is failing to keep even huge theater nuts engaged.

I forgot when it was on!

I am not a huge Broadway person but I can appreciate a great musical. That said, I enjoy the show a lot but I think the second episode was really weak. The obvious choice won the role and predictably slept with her boss. This week's was definitely better but I feel like the show needs a little more momentum to keep people engaged.

The time slot is just way wrong. Ten pm is just way to late for that show to be airing. They need a 8pm time slot.

Is there a reason for all of this Marilyn obsession these days. Amovie up for an Oscar and now this. And to top it off Lindsay L. playing dress up as Marilyn every opportunity she gets. Playboy and Vanity fair. What gives?

I like this show and I'm a big fan of Katharine McPhee but even I don't always watch this show on Monday at 10. I catch the repeats on demand on my own time. I hope NBC doesn't give up on it.
